Hi,\n
\n
I recently bought a few pre-made amplifier modules for an 8-channel amplifier project (for a sound installation).\n
\n
The amp is based on the TDA7294 chip and is rated 85W nominal. Now I’m looking for a power supply, but I’m a bit lost (this isn’t really my strongest field, to put it mildly).\n
\n
Do I just need to add up the output power, 8*85W = 680W, or could I get away with using something smaller, like a 300W or 300VA?\n
\n
Also, the seller said that you need to use CV power supplies, CC won’t work and kill the circuit. Does that mean a switching supply can’t be used?\n
\n
It looks like the module has a rectifier and smoothing caps integrated, so I could potentially just use a transformer, right?\n

Best, N

Hi,\n
\n
Best, N

Hi im new here, cause im trans, also a bit into leftism (I like the red vibe and hate capitalism) but not committed mostly because im new to politics in general. This is a burner because the whole subject seems very heated and I don’t want my main account banned.\n
\n
so it was very surprising to me to see commies just… argue? Marxist Leninist, tankie, whatever, just seem to be like other commies, but ya’ll just hate them? I mean didn’t commies like the soviet union? I get China because of the weird capitalism its got, but I thought the soviets were like ya’lls trump card? I mean what else do ya’ll have? I mean I know it had baddies, but I thought ya’ll had like different views on it? I mean there was so much going on they at least have to had done *something*.\n
\n
Like apparently the lemmy developers are ‘tankies’, but who cares? They built the thing, and it seems like they’ve just let us do whatever we want, nothing bad right?\n
\n
It all just seems like different methods. being anarchist is fine (I don’t know what you do at all but it seems like you’re around at least), but being a ‘tankie’ makes you a fascist? Im just very very confused. Didn’t the USSR fight Nazis? I’m not giving them a kiss or anything but they killed quite a lot of Nazis, isn’t that at least kinda good?\n
\n
I only recently found out that commies even had like different ideologies. I want to get into leftism, but it seems to be about the same as if I just stayed out of it, everyone is spending all the time fighting people, but I thought your whole thing was fight the man, not fight other commies?\n
\n
And then I see leftists just lackluster in their critiques of America? I mean, anyone knows america hates commies, all of em, beat yall in '91 (honestly suprised yall still here). Now its ‘america is a flawed democracy’ and ‘bad nato but only when they do things’. I thought ya’ll at least had strong opinions? Why can’t you just hate america, thought that was yalls thing?\n
\n
Its very silly to try to adopt revolutionary things and then like… limp dick it. Like, NATO is a capitalist alliance, shouldn’t commies hate that? Seems very straightforward. I mean I know Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is very bad, but does that mean defending a capitalist state? Yall spend a lot of time arguing for NATO against these tankies (while I don’t understand their position, it seems to at least be in that ‘fuck the US’ thing I thought yall did). Although I see the whole thing as too much for me to understand, some of yall do sort of agree with NATO bad too, but somehow its good for them to fight another capitalist? How’s that doing anything for ya?\n
\n
Its all very confusing\n
\n
I admit I care little for yalls squabbles, yall seem to care an awful lot about footnotes in history when the future looks like a big chance. Like I dont know what the hell happened in the Spain civil war, but how does that like change anything? Nobody sides yall commies seem to care about it period. Don’t yall hate capitalism, why then do yall spend half the time getting angry at other commies?\n
\n
Its very silly in my view, and again very counterproductive\n
\n
Its souring to get into communism and hear that apparently all the big dudes and big things in it are bags of shit, and I should read a bunch of small guys that only yall seem to know. Like Marx is BIG, but apparently he’s bad now? Like I know its older, but isn’t capitalism? Doesn’t seemed to have changed very much, but the products sure have, but the system is still big guy owns thing, exploits worker, hoards wealth, an that sorta thing. He’s like the floorboards, but now he isn’t? Did yall convene after the 90s and hit a reset on the whole thing? Starting from scratch?\n
\n
I wanted to ask them their opinions, but they seem a little scary, so Ill talk to yall first. I just wants some clarifications about this issue.

+title: "whats going on with the 'tankie' thing"
+url: null
+body: """

Greetings y’all. I’ve been using ways to circumvent YouTube ads for years now. I’d much rather donate to creators directly instead of using Google as a middle man, needing YouTube Premium. If even pay for premium for just a add free version, if the price wouldn’t be so outrageous. I’ve So far used adblockers, Vanced and then Revanced.\n
\n
Since the recent developments in this matter, I’ve setup Tubearchivist, a self hosted solution to download YouTube videos for later consumption. It mostly works great, with a few minor things that bother me but I highly recommend it. ReVanced also still works, but nobody knows for how long.\n
\n
The question now is, if I should use a VPN to obscure my identity to Google. I don’t know if I’m being paranoid here but I wouldn’t put it past Google to block my account, if they see YouTube traffic for my IP address and no served ads. Revanced even uses my main Google account, so not that far fetched.\n
\n
So far, or at least to my knowledge, Google has never done this but I think they just might in the future. So I’m planning on putting tubearchivist behind a VPN via gluetun.\n

What do you think? I’m eager to hear your opinions on this.\n

I can also add my docker compose, if there’s interest and when I’m back on my PC.

What do you think? I’m eager to hear your opinions on this.\n
\n
I can also add my docker compose, if there’s interest and when I’m back on my PC.

I’d like a place where warranties aren’t a factor when discussing BIFL items. I know that some feel otherwise but for me the appeal of BIFL is NOT frugality (though it often overlaps) but rather in owning high quality, long lasting, repairable items. It also has an aspect of sustainability as I hope to only buy one of something and not have to consume multiples of the same thing when I replace them with a warranty. Also worth noting is that warranties are only good as long as the company issuing them still exists and honors them but high quality things will continue to work.\n

Anyway, excited to see this community here but I’d like a rule against warranties being considered when assessing if something is BIFL.

I am using ProtonVPN, and have (or so I thought) set up qBittorrent to bind to the network interface that ProtonVPN is using (tun0). The connection symbol turns red if I turn off the VPN, and downloads will stop. However, when checking the torrent address on ipleak.net, it seems that this bind is not working properly - my real IP shows up after I have disconnected my VPN. I thought that there shouldn’t be any connections made when traffic is not via the tun0 interface, so that my real IP should never be known by the detection tool. Am I wrong?\n

I have not configured the kill switch, but perhaps I should do so?

I am using ProtonVPN, and have (or so I thought) set up qBittorrent to bind to the network interface that ProtonVPN is using (tun0). Hi there! I like to listen to the “Slightly something else” podcast. Although it is gaming-related, they have these ad-segments that have some kind of targetting, as it is always in the language from where I’ve downloaded the episone.\n
\n
Yesterday I was really surprised that the ad seemed very well targeted, because it has been referencing a very specific topic concerning my flatmates and me that doesn’t have anything to do with gaming.\n
\n
My first theory was that my IP was correlated with search terms my partner googled in my home IP (I search with searxng). But then I realized that I’ve subscribed to another podcast related to the advertised topic. (also: the episode with the advertisements was downloaded via mobile network)\n
\n
So… Apparently, spotify (where slightly something else is hosted via anchor.fm) analyzes the podcasts I subscribe to via rss feed. Is there any way how I can avoid being profiled? Is this the reason why I’d start using a commercial VPN?\n
\n
Edit: I’d like to reply to your comments, but my lemmy instance won’t display them correctly. So I’ll try to answer here: I’m already using Antennapod with rss feeds for download. That’s why I was so suprised and pissed that the ad was so obviously targeted.
