I’ve seen it for Venezuela and Syria, but i’m sure i could find this for quite a lot of other countries. \n

Some leaders may believe that the processus of elections is biased because unjust external pressures are putting a strain on the country and strengthening the opposition ; but, despite that, some of them are still asking for international observers, which could be an occasion to seize, instead of refusing to send them yet accusing them of cheating. \n
So i wonder if i’m missing something by thinking that we don’t want to legitimate the whole process by counting the votes.\n

If you had the initial thought that international observers won’t prevent cheating : they would count in double the votes, with the venezuelans of their area, and have everything under their eyes from the beginning of the vote to the end of the official count, so i don’t see how cheating would be possible. \n
For now, our version is that they’re miscounting the votes, yet we’re refusing to send such observers.

Hey everyone! Looking for any interior decorator aficionados out there. For as long as I can remember I’ve never been able to decorate spaces where I live and would love some advice!\n
\n
I’ve been at my current home a few years and my living room is painted, but the walls are empty. We have some furniture (couch, entertainment center, key ring holder) and our TV but you really wouldn’t be able to tell who lives there or what type of people we are. This is the case for all of our rooms.\n
\n
Does anyone have or know of any guides/tips/suggestions for making a space feel more “lived-in” or “home-y”? I’m not sure where to start aside from family pictures, but then get stressed about messing up our walls or something “looking wrong” and having to redo/undo it all. Any way to get past that mindset as well is definitely welcome!\n
\n
Any help is appreciated, thanks everyone!

I have no idea if this is possible to implement on the client side, but it would be really cool to be able to pick which subbed communities are emphasized or de-emphasized in your feed.\n
\n
For example if you’re on a niche sub that only gets a few posts per week, maybe you want to ALWAYS see new content regardless of how many upvotes or comments it gets.\n
\n
Conversely, I enjoy a few meme subs, but right now Risa completely dominates new/hot/best filtering for me. I’d be perfectly happy just seeing the top few posts sprinkled throughout my feed.

Alt___ The picture shows today’s XKCD comic. Transcript: [A grayed-out sentence in the Times New Roman font reads “Optimistic aliens measure space typographically”. The “O” in “Optimistic” is dark black and indicated as representing the Sun (not to scale). The dots of the letters “i” in the sentence are similarly dark black. The dot in the first “i” in “Optimistic” is indicated as representing Mercury; the dot in the second “i” represents Venus; the dot in the third “i” represents Earth. The dot in the “i” in “aliens” is indicated as representing Mars. The dot in the “i” in “typographically” is indicated as representing Jupiter. A measurement bar indicates that the distance between the “O” and the third “i” in “Optimistic” is equivalent to 1 AU (astronomical unit).] [Caption below the panel:] Space tip: if you’re ever lost in the inner Solar System, you can just type out the phrase “Optimistic aliens measure space typographically” in Times New Roman and use the dots as a map.

I can’t recall a time when I wasn’t lost in the inner solar system. Currently I’m stuck on the third dot - how do I proceed?\n

![](https://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/space_typography.png)\n
\n

Hi! There’s no Surface on Linux Lemmy community (yet), but I didn’t feel like asking on reddit, so I thought that this community is my best bet.\n
\n
I was thinking about getting a surface go, since I really like the form factor and have fond memories of my old Surface Pro 3 in Uni.\n
\n
Now, there’s a deal going on, where they’re selling the tablet for under 300€, but it’s the low-spec one with 4GB RAM and the weakest processor. I was wondering if I would be doing myself a favor by getting a tablet with these low-end specs.\n
\n
My usecases would be: Note taking with rnote/xournalpp, surfing, reading, youtube and maybe some light coding.\n
\n
A FOSS system with encrypted home directory is essential for me, which is why I’m not even considering Android/Apple tablets.\n
\n
I think I’d give Fedora Silverblue a shot, because Gnome is supposedly great for tablets and it seems more stable to fuck-ups. But maybe the meager storage space (64GB) makes this infeasible\n
\n
Do any of you have any experiences with these low specs? Or even with a Surface Go 2 in 2023 daily use?
