            "content": "<p>I don\u2019t know how people who have gone through the trouble of self hosting and have taken all the time to learn how all of this works still don\u2019t understand that most people are not capable of using Jellyfin and\/or do not have the desire to learn how to do it. It\u2019s not turnkey, not by a longshot. Plex is. That\u2019s the reason. If jellyfish were even remotely as easy as Plex, then Plex wouldn\u2019t be so popular.<\/p>\n<p>You may as well tell everyone to learn how to change the oil in their cars and lecture them about that, or tell people to always make a home cooked meal instead of going out to dinner. Some people are just going to pay for the convenience.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who has used jellyfish knows that it is no trivial matter getting it working outside of your network, especially for other people. I can set up a Plex server at somebody\u2019s house in like 30 minutes and get anybody streaming on their devices in half that time. They don\u2019t even compare when it comes to setup and ease of use.<\/p>\n<p>Edit: I\u2019d like to also add that the only people talking about plex on lemmy are people complaining about plex users. I see more whining and complaining about it here than I see it ever mentioned anywhere else in my life. Some of y\u2019all are so fucking pretentious about this.<\/p>\n",
