It let me paste this much into the title box:\n

“Sokushi Cheat ga Saikyou Sugite, Isekai no Yatsura ga Marude Aite ni Naranaindesu ga. • My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered, No One in This Other World Stands a Chance Against Me! - Episode 1 d”\n

Then, when I created the post, a red dialog saying “Error: invalid_post_title” popped up in the lower left of my browser.\n
\n
I suspected that the pasted title was too long, so I removed some of the text, and sure enough, I was able to create the post.\n
\n
1. If it’s going to automatically truncate the pasted text, it should truncate the text to an acceptable length.\n
2. The error message should be more specific.\n
\n
Probably obvious to anyone encountering this, and an easy workaround.\n

I remember reading somewhere (probably my high school textbook) that one of the reasons people don’t like wind power being built is they cause visual pollution.\n

In my opinion, I think **it would be pretty cool** to just look out my window and see a giant windmill there, the opposite of visual pollution.

The original Dislike activity ([endlesstalk.org/…/e1f82f6a-d49b-4dab-b444-36c382f…](https://endlesstalk.org/activities/dislike/e1f82f6a-d49b-4dab-b444-36c382f13c5a)) has a record at endlesstalk.org, but the Like object’s activity that’s been undone doesn’t ([endlesstalk.org/…/1f0b6132-547e-4fb5-8313-6f7b7f3…](https://endlesstalk.org/activities/like/1f0b6132-547e-4fb5-8313-6f7b7f31be6b) just returns ‘No record found’)\n
\n
I got the same results when I tried this from lemmy.world (but I thought I’d try again from a 0.19 instance)\n
\n
I found some references to this at the GitHub, but they were issues that were closed off as being fixed, so I don’t know what the situation is with this now.

Context\n
-------\n
\n
I want to host public-facing applications on a server in my home, without compromising security. I realize containers might be one way to do this, and want to explore that route further.\n
\n
Requirements\n
------------\n
\n
I want to run applications within containers such that they\n
\n
- Must not be able to interfere with applications running on host\n
- Must not be able to interfere with other containers or applications inside them\n
- Must have no access or influence on other devices in the local network, or otherwise compromise the security of the network, but still accessible by devices via ssh.\n
\n
> Note: all of this within reason. I understand that sometimes there may be occasional vulnerabilities, like in kernel for example, that would eventually get fixed. Risks like this within reason I am willing to accept.\n
\n
What I found so far\n
-------------------\n
\n
- **Running containers in rootless mode:** in other words, running the container daemon with an unprivileged host user\n
- **Running applications in container under unprivileged users:** the container user under which the container is ran should be unprivileged\n
- **Networking:** The container’s networking must be restricted. I am still not sure how to do this and shall explore it more, but would appreciate any resources.\n
\n
Alternative solution\n
--------------------\n
\n
I have seen bubblewrap presented as an alternative, but it seems like it is not intended to be used directly in this manner, and information about using it for this is scarce.

So, yesterday I was trying to install Fedora on a PC with an Nvidia graphics card, it is a bit old and it has an Intel CPU. Basically as soon as I booted the USB it went all weird like if it would be having a graphical glitch like going all rainbow in some parts and stop responding, I tried a few more times under a UEFI secure boot or something like that, and it kind of worked but only in a very small resolution and nothing had animations and so on. This was connected to a monitor via VGA.\n
\n
Then I said, well, maybe it’s a Fedora thing, so I installed elementaryOS and moved the PC to other place where I have another monitor that has HDMI support, I installed it while being connected to that and I had no problem, so I thought, well, it must have been a Fedora thing. I moved the PC to the other place where it was going to be used, connected it to the VGA monitor and the same glitchy thing happened, even though everything was already installed. Mind you that Windows was being used before and it was connected through that same VGA port.\n

I was under the impression that there was no backend support for cross-posts in Lemmy – I thought that the “proper” way to cross-post was to click the cross post button\n
\n
![](https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/518b4015-ad12-45a0-9cbf-836f1ee44fa6.png)\n
\n
which would result in a new “create post” with a link to the original post, and the body in markdown quotations (which is a rather ugly solution) which, for example, looks like this:\n
\n
![](https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/54ce941c-6952-4960-b59a-de2c212e9afa.png)\n
\n

\n
![](https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/b8d68b7b-4675-4311-b742-dfd384fe28c5.png)\n
\n
But I then started seeing the following:\n
\n
- Lemmy UI: ![](https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/46a5ce4d-396e-4b35-a61f-8bacbb0adc53.png)\n
- Thunder: ![](https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/eaabc300-6f36-4ac1-b3e7-b22570970beb.png)\n

How does one create these nicer cross-posts?

(I’m currently running Mint Cinnamon if anyone is curious) On Windows I was using the free version of Davinci Resolve for all of my video editing. I quickly discovered that the free version of Resolve for Linux doesn’t support H.264/H.265 so after trying every Linux video editor I could find (even Blender) I’ve settled on using Kdenlive. I’ve been having a good time getting everything dialed in and learning Kdenlive. I was able to get hardware acceleration working with my Nvidia GPU, and I really appreciated that it could natively utilize the proxy clips that my DJI Action 3 generates when recording. I’ve been reading all kinds of tips and tricks articles but most of it is just basic stuff. Anyone using Kdenlive have more advanced tips to share? Particularly anything around title generation and animation as I’ve found Kdenlive’s system to be a little clunky. Let’s talk!"

Hi all,\n
\n
Short question. Does somebody here run authentik as single sign-on provider? (dockerised?)\n
\n
I’m looking for information on how to best backup a authentik server? Just do a backup of the postgres database and the docker-compose file? Something else? How crucial is the dump.rdb file of the redis container?\n
\n
