Hello! The TL;DR is:\n
\n
I have an m.2 drive that is in a sturdy enclosure that has 1 TB. I have Ventoy with Medicat on there, with some backups of important data.\n
\n
I still have a lot of room left on there, so I was thinking what else I could do, and the idea of basically installing a Linux Distro to a chunk of free space on there. Maybe Debian/Fedora or Arch.\n
\n
Is there anything I should be aware of to help not break that system or rapidly kill the drive? It’s not a USB flash drive, it’s a M.2 drive that’s put on a small board that then allows it to talk via USB C/Thunderbolt.\n
\n
***EDIT:*** Just to be sure, if I use Ventoy’s EFI, do I need to be worried about a conflict with the bootloader of the Linux install?

*Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb*\n

*The Hobbit, or There and Back Again* (the book)\n

And before you say “alternate title”, since these supposed alternate titles are included in the full version of the main title (even if it’s usually not listed in full), how does this differ from “true” alternate titles that replace the entire main title?\n
\n
Example:\n
\n
*Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey*vs *Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn*\n
\n
*Into the Deep* vs *Yakamoz S-245*\n
\n
And then there’s the standard sub-titles, for example:\n
\n
*Captain America: The First Avenger*\n
\n
(Sorry for my lazy title choices but I couldn’t think of any others)\n
\n
It seems like we have 3 things here: an “or” title in the name (alternate title which is included in the full version of the main title), a completely different alternate title that replaces the main one, and a subtitle following a colon after the main title. Are there different names to distinguish these different types of titles??\n
\n
Also can we talk about how sub-title is used to mean closed captions as well as “sub-name” (sub-title used in this context)? It makes it impossible to search about because most people understand subtitle to mean closed captions, I think.

If there’s one phrase that has echoed in the back of my mind, it’s that I have no family, and by that I mean no children or spouse - and I’m middle aged.\n
\n
I have relatives of course, sisters, nieces, nephews and a grandma. Both my parents died some years ago, so there’s no going home to them. My sister’s are so busy with their lives, and one actively ignores me, largely because she’s dealing with her own issues.\n
\n
I’m not going to grandma’s, because my crazy creationist cunt of an aunt will probably call me a communist atheist while she parrots Isreali propaganda. I’d rather be alone than face that, which is sad AF since grandma is selling the family house and this will be the last year we can spend Christmas there.\n
\n
Add to that the fact I never really had a full relationship because I focused all my time developing skills, something that used to bring me joy and the promise of success, but now I sort of hate what I do and haven’t been able to reach success. I’ve all but abandoned my dream and am deeply insecure about my future. In effect I have worked long and hard with nothing to show for it.\n
\n
I have no feeling of belonging with my own countrymen even, and the foreigners are so self conscious that you instantly get pegged as “one of them”, “the other”, as they treat you as an inferior because they them selves have been made to feel inferior and feel the need to cope via toxicity. Can’t turn around without being slapped with some social pressure or putdown. I don’t feel like dealing with anyone.\n
\n
This will be the second Christmas I spend alone and I don’t really feel like reaching out. I feel like a burden, like someone who has to be catered to, facilitated, tolerated. My only want is an escape. Whether that means leaving the country, joining a cult, moving out into a cave, I don’t know.\n
\n
I just don’t know how to deal. I can’t really relate to anyone and I can’t find anyone I can trust, or who I feel I can confide in. So I take to the internet, to completely random strangers for respite.\n

Nothing too shabby, but still. To run it you need docker, and after that just type\n

Mostly because of those two flags:` --read-only` and `–net none`. Can’t get better than this. :^)\n

This also came up while in a self-learning process, but I don’t want to “flex” it here.

Hi Lemmy,\n
\n
I’d love to make a list/index of good websites for movie / TV reviews and recommendations with all of your help.\n
\n
I will keep updating the post and add categories\n
\n
Most of the things that I watch are US content or a derivative and I feel like I’m missing out. On more curated sites like rogerebert.com there are a is a lot of non-US content which I really like.\n
\n
Are there more sites like Rogerebert? Is there something like an english Cahiers du Cinema? Is there a rotten tomatoes for Asian or European movies?\n
\n
Maybe the mods can eventually make a nicer post and pin it.\n

I will keep updating the post and add categories\n
\n
Most of the things that I watch are US content or a derivative and I feel like I’m missing out. On more curated sites like rogerebert.com there are a is a lot of non-US content which I really like.\n
\n
Are there more sites like Rogerebert? Is there something like an english Cahiers du Cinema? Is there a rotten tomatoes for Asian or European movies?\n
\n
Maybe the mods can eventually make a nicer post and pin it.\n

+body: """
Starting to build my library, and ROM size hasn’t been an issue now until I got to PS1.\n
\n
The file sizes aren’t MASSIVE, but it’s a little annoying to download each individual .CUE/.BIN, and convert to .CHDs.\n
\n
I looked at some torrents, but they’re mostly a mishmash of formats and clearly put together by someone that is not well organized.

I admit they were way *too* cheap for what they are (like 15% cheaper than same-size Ironwolf), so I gambled it haha there were no indications that these drives were OEM or similar.\n
\n
Back to issue at hand: since I can’t personally have the five years warranty on these, only the original purchaser can, and I have no way to know who they are and when they bought them, I should just return them, right? And maybe buy the next ones only from authorized sellers?\n
\n
edit: also, now that I think about it, and before I make the same mistake twice, there’s no way I can get enterprise drives as a normal consumer, can I, at least not brand new? I expect any enterprise drives I can find will have the same issue, i.e. bought by someone else for servers or similar, and then resold, correct?\n
\n
edit 2: actually WD sells enterprise drives on their website, so my previous assumption about it was wrong

I know that I can just type my instance and have lemmy, but I wont be able to post in private, defederated, etc. communities. Even so if my instance is down, I’d be just locked out.\n

So basically my wish is to port whatever I have on mobile to pc. A multi-instance & multi-account lemmy client, bonus points if it has a bunch of features, like blocking, or if it’s pretty, but that goes without saying. Even a link to a same, but older, question will help, Thanks in advance.
