Hey all. I’m currently trialling out IPTV providers, and one of the things that’s putting me off entirely is the lack of decent Mac apps, specifically ones that allow for Xtream logins and not only m3u.\n
\n
The provider I’m testing out suggested Smarters Lite from the iPad store – it runs fine, but it fullscreens with black borders down the sides.\n
\n
Aside from that, I’ve tried IPTVnator (FOSS, so that’s great) but doesn’t actually display the content.\n
\n
The only thing that works great for individual channel viewing is using Stremio with an add-on, but there’s no EPG interface there, so no channel hopping and other features.\n
\n
Any suggestions?\n
\n
ETA: compatibility with Apple Silicon (M1/M2) chips would be vital too.

As the title says. I have been searching for something like Kodi but more focused on an offline library manager for all the media I have. I can just navigate with the file explorer through my folders but it just looks not that pretty. Is there anything like a library manager to display my videos/music in a similar way of big online platforms? Since I have a lot of things to watch on my drive I don’t actually use much internet lately and I’m searching for something like a good looking UI, but probably I’m not very good at searching :(\n
\n
Do you know a anything like that?

Two weeks ago I started using Trakt. It’s a website/app designed to keep track of shows and movies you’ve watched, and gives you a list of which episode is available to watch next which updates as new episodes are released.\n
\n
A lot of other similar websites I tried don’t have everything cataloged (some done have anime, while sites like Letterboxd only do movies).\n
\n
Recommendations function is pretty horrible though and they lock basic filtering functionality behind a subscription, but it’s still pretty good for what I need it for.\n

It also gives you stats for your total watch time. Which is now 192 days… Not including reruns… So maybe it’s double that. I don’t know whether to be disappointed in myself or proud.

Between wanting to do more with local LLMs, wsl annoyances, and the direction tech companies have been going lately, I think it’s time I start exploring a full Linux migration\n
\n
I’m a software dev, I’m comfortable in the command line, and I used to write the node configuration piece of something similar to chef (flavor/version agnostic setup of cloud environments)\n
\n
So for me, Linux has always been a “modify the script and rebuild fresh” kind of deal… Even my dev VMs involved a lot of scripts and snapshots. I don’t enjoy configuration and I really hate debugging it, but I can muddle through when I have to\n
\n
Web searches have pushed me towards Ubuntu for LLM work, but I’ve never been a big fan of the window Managers. I like little flourishes like animation and lots of options I can set graphically, I use multiple desktop multiple monitors\n
\n
I’ve tried the one it comes standard with, gnome, and kde (although it’s been about 5 years since I’ve last given them a real shot).\n
\n
I’m mostly looking for the most reasonable footprint that is “good enough”, something that feels polished to at least the Windows XP level - subtle animations instead of instant popups, rounded borders, maybe a bit of transparency here and there.\n
\n
I’m looking at Ubuntu w/\n
\n
- kde w/ plasma (I understand it’s very configurable, I don’t love the look and it seems to be a bigger footprint\n
- budgie (looks nice, never heard of it before today)\n
- kylin (looks very Windows 10 which is nice, a bit skeptical about the Chinese focus)\n
- mate (I like the look, but it seems a bit dubiously centralized)\n
- unity (looks like the standard Ubuntu taken to it’s natural conclusion)\n
- rhino Linux (something new which makes me skeptical, but pretty and seems more like existing tools packaged together which makes me think the issues might not impact actual workflow)\n
- anything the community is big on for this, personally I’d pick opensuze, but I need to maximize compatibility with bleeding edge LLM projects\n
\n
My hardware and hard requirements are:\n
\n
- nvidia 1060ti\n
- ryzen 5500u\n
- 16g ram\n
- 4 drives nearly full, because it’s a computer of Theseus running the same (upgraded) vista license that came with the case like 15 years ago\n
- multi desktop, multi monitor\n
- can handle a lot of browser Windows/tabs\n
- ideally the setup is just a package mana ger install script with all my dependencies\n
- gaming support would be nice, but I’ll be dual booting for VR anyways\n
\n
I’ve been out of the game for a while, I’d love to hear what the feeling is in the community these days\n
\n
(Side note, is pine as cool a company as it seems?)

I’ve owned my own business for the last several years selling products online, but that business has been declining for awhile and I’m looking into customer service type jobs that I could do from home.\n

If a company asks for references, how would I work around that?

I’ve always liked wine, especially red wine and as people who drink wine they enjoy it with food or without. Oftentimes, especially when it comes to red, the pairings often lean towards meat dishes. I’m perfectly capable of drawing my own conclusions whether the wine I have pairs well to my taste with whatever I might possibly eat it with, but I like exploring and finding new favorites. #### Supporting Evidence\n
\n
Constantine (2005) - Logo swept away by the fires of hell \n
The Simpsons (2007) - Ralph Wiggum trumps out the fanfare \n
Scott Pilgrim (2010) - Universal logo rendered as 8-bit animation \n
Pitch Perfect (2012) - Universal theme sung a cappella \n
Upgrade (2018) - Studio credits read by ominous System Shock type voice \n
Bob’s Burgers (2022) - altered FOX fanfare audio. \n
Spider-Men in Spider-Verses (2018/2023) - Multiversal glitches\n
\n
#### Hypothesis\n
\n
Film makers invested so much in their own product that they’ve got around to thinking about how the studio credits play out are dedicated to making a good movie\n
\n
#### Criteria (edited)\n
\n
Due to eligibility requirements (published separately), some films have had to be excluded. These include The Flintstones (1994), Waterworld (1995), Matrix Resurrections (2021) and Tomorrowland (2015). I am however confident that these exclusions don’t affect the validity of my theory, and am confident in going forward.\n
\n
---\n
\n
Have you seen a film with transformed credits that was actually dog pops? \n
If not, I’ll go work this up and submit it to the relevant journals.

It was a single output supply, when needed I hooked up additional buck- or linear regulators to get additional voltages which isn’t that convenient. So I’d like to get a reliable new one with at least two, preferably three outputs. Is something like a Keysight EDU36311A worth it for daily but mainly hobby usage? I’d be okay with the price if it would be like the last supply I ever have to buy. Alternatively a Siglent SPD3303X (or the -E) it’s also a triple output supply (the third channel only has three predefined voltages tho which is kind of a downside)."

I thought of a few examples, but want some more. Don’t count songs with nonsense lyrics or instrumentals without lyrics. Don’t count bilingual songs (unless neither of them is English, or if the English portions are commonly omitted). Don’t count songs primarily popular among immigrant populations or others fluent in that language.\n

Basically, songs an American monoglot could sing along with, but couldn’t translate.

I work at a store that sells kitchen appliances and other kitchen related stuff, normally when we’re supposed to leave or go on break we’re supposed to tell our manager, I was helping a long line at cash register and had already been there for 8 hours and assumed they had someone to cover me, I wasn’t allowed to use the walkies to ask to be covered to go home, so I quickly found my manager and told her my shift was done.\n
\n
She got really prissy at me and said, “Could you really not stay a few more minutes?” I tried to tell her, “I thought you had someone to cover me I can stay if you want.” She then replied, “No no just go, but next time you need to wait for a manager to let you go home.”\n
\n
*record scratch*\n
\n
This was never a rule, I asked other people who’ve worked there for years and they agreed that it wasn’t a rule.\n
\n
I worked again a few days later and the store was empty, my shift was over and was about to ask to go home then I remember what my manager told me.\n
\n
**Cue malicious compliance.**\n
\n
I continued to wander the store and slightly fix shelves, making sure I was near my manager.\n
\n
After about 2 and a half hours she said, “You’re still here, why haven’t you gone home?” I replied, “You said I need to wait to be told to go home.” My manager looked at me as though she was mentally kicking herself. “Just go,” she said.\n
\n
I clocked out and got paid an extra $30 for doing literally nothing.\n
\n
**TL;DR: My manager got so annoyed when I told her my shift was done that she said I had to wait for a manager to dismiss me after my shift. Well, the next time I worked I waited around for 2 and a half hours doing nothing waiting to get dismissed. When my manager noticed, she told me to go and that’s how I got paid an extra 2 hours for doing nothing.**
