Hello everyone!\n
\n
Disclaimer : I'm the creator of the project!\n
--------------------------------------------\n
\n
Project : <https://github.com/rollsicecream/privacy-dns-chooser>\n
\n
I have released the version 1.0 of what I call The Privacy DNS Chooser Script. This very simple but very easy to use CLI script allows you to choose Quad9, Mullvad DNS and NextDNS (more coming soon!) and use them on Linux with the systemd-resolved package (which is nowadays installed on all Linux distros, except Debian).\n
\n
One of the cool features of the script is an NextDNS integration. This means that when the user chooses NextDNS to use it, the script will ask him to enter his configuration number (e.g. a12345)\n
\n
Also, if you are in trouble (like if your Internet’s not working anymore after running the script). There’s a “rescue script” which will recover /etc/systemd/resolved.conf to his default state. Thus recovering your internet connection.\n
\n
Why did I make this script? Well, I think on Linux, we are very late when it comes to setting up a DNS provider. We can only set up an IP address as an DNS while on Windows 11 and macOS Ventura, we have the ability to use DNS-over-HTTPS and DNS-over-TLS which are way more secure ways of using DNS, directly into a GUI. Where on Linux, the only way to do that is via, you guessed it : /etc/systemd/resolved.conf a.k.a. systemd-resolved.\n
\n
Upcoming features for the script :\n
\n
- Add Support for AdGuard (should come out at the end of the year)\n
- Add options for the user to choose the Ad, Tracker and Malware blocking version of Mullvad DNS or the standard non-blocking DNS (Early January 2024)\n
- Add Cloudflare and ControlD support (March/April 2024)\n
\n
**Thanks!**

I’m kinda new to linux, however I seem to remember running a headless ububtu server years back. Also remember it took a long time to setup being my first headless server.\n
\n
So, to my current issues. I just installed mint on an old pc and just want to use it to run my security cams, store the files, and host my nas. Took me over 6 hours to get the raid setup properly, so much differing information on ‘how to’ for noobs like myself, but managed to get it working and moving files over to raid file now.\n
\n
Coming from mostly windows crap most of my life, its confusing where and how the raid is setup, and honestly I’m still not convinced I did it right, but everything I check says it is, and I’m sure it knows better than I do.\n
\n
Ok, now the issue, how in the ever lovin shit can I just share that stupid folder/disk to my network. 90% of the options are greyed out while looking at the properties tab, and need sudo access to change it, so whats the point in having the gui? Am I just dumb and smoked way too many doobies? Got samba installed, but not configured yet, only cause I ran across much more conflicting info, some said in mint its easy like windows…right click and share that shit, easy right? Even I didn’t think so, and I’m ok with that, I’m really sick of windows and want to convert all the pc’s but damn…stiff learning curve.\n
\n
Don’t get me wrong, I ran DOS back in the day, and I was not bad at it, better than your normal user at the time but by no means a power user. So I should be able to grab the concept quickly, but I am failing. Total of 12 hrs on this now and considering just putting win7 back on this pig and giving up.\n
\n
I know no one can give me direct answers, and not looking for tech support, but looking for advice so im not wanting to ‘hulk smash’ this thing

Hello Lemmy,\n
\n
I am back once more speaking about my kemono/Coomer project, and this time I am finally releasing a public beta!\n
\n
For the better part of a month, I’ve been working on this GUI + library and while its not really that complicated to make, I’ve continued to improve it as much as I can!\n
\n
This project has so far exceeded my expectations. It supports scanning for mega links in post descriptions and downloading them if the user requests it (this requires proxies however due to mega quota). If you plan to use this feature, I highly recommend Proxifier (I hear it’s available on the 7 seas).\n
\n
It supports mass image downloading, mass video downloading, built-in text translations via Google Translate, config support, and more!\n
\n
If you’re an avid user of kemono/Coomer, I humbly implore you to try out my program and tell me what you think! Please report any bugs that may exist on the GitHub repo.\n
\n
[Let’s get sailing pirates](https://github.com/AmnesiaIsHere/PartyLib)\n
\n
EDIT: Mega.nz support is experimental right now, so it is disabled by default on the GUI. MegaCMD server has some very strange hanging issues that I will be addressing in a future update.
