If I just had high caffeine tolerance I’d guess it’s either because of fast caffeine metabolism or my ADHD. Sometimes a regular cup of coffee is more than enough to wake me up and improve my ability to concentrate and sometimes not even a 4x Espresso is enough, with no discernible reason why. I have tried drinking coffee on an empty / full stomach, which doesn’t seem to make a difference. Any idea why this might happen?\n

Mine was mostly pretty low-key, which is how I like it. I got some small gifts from my wife and daughter, including a 7oz hammer with a colorfully painted handle. I actually really liked that. Hello, I recently bought a USB A to C cable and it is pretty weird. It is a USB A to USB C cable, seemingly USB 2.0 but the A connector has 5 pins, the 4 pins of USB 2 and what looks like pin 7 of USB 3.0 so in the middle of the back row, the other pins of USB 3.0 are not there and the plasting moulding only allows for that one pin (moreover the USB type C end looks like it only has the few middle pins so it's probably 2.0). The weirdness continues because when connected to a USB power supply the led on the USB C connector lights up but it can only charge simple devices like flashlights or things that generally just accept 5V, anything with fast charging capabilities gets no output. I am probably going to test it with breakout boards and eventually even disassembly it and maybe replace the connectors but in the meantime does anyone have any explanation?\n
\n
P.S. I will make a follow up post (or an update here) when I open it up, with photos of course.

They did not provide a reason. There was no further dialog. I just got a system message telling me I was removed.\n
\n
I was also silmultaniously shadow banned from Reddit and my posts and comments stopped showing up. I had created a post complaining about being removed as the moderator (the only moderator for over a decade) of a sub that I built from the ground up and donated literally thousands of volunteer hours to over the last 14 years. It had zero upvotes or downvotes or comments and was not visible as an anon user.\n
\n
In the end, I decided to rip the bandaid off and killed my 16.5 year account. I was one of the early supporters of Reddit (user #7758) and had left Digg for good in May of 2007 after the AAC controversy. They showed their authoritarian side in that moment and I knew Digg had reached their high water mark.\n
\n
Reddit is at that moment now. They won't be dead tomorrow. They won't be dead next week. However, it will also never be the same, and it's only downhill from here.\n
\n
Much like Digg. Much like Myspace. I am sure there will be a blurb a few years from now as an addendum in some business journal how Reddit sold to a third party for an undisclosed sum and some Skittles...\n
\n
The future is the Fediverse and I'm glad I was forced to remove my Reddit crutch and dive in full force.\n
\n
Edit 1: The messages are starting to come in faster than I can reply. Thanks for all the well wishes!\n
\n
Edit 2: I'll also add, that I was never going to re-open the sub because I knew Reddit wasn't going to yield. Thus, I was prepared for the outcome. I did hope to string them along for a bit longer and waste resources, but you can't win them all.

So I made a kbin account a few days ago and I can't seem to get it going. I've tried searching for "magazines" and I subscribed to a few of them, but I can't seem to find my groove there. Any tips would be appreciated!

I set up this lemmy account about 10 days ago and my subscribed feed is really good, I'm having a lot of really good interactions.\n

So I made a kbin account a few days ago and I can't seem to get it going. I've tried searching for "magazines" and I subscribed to a few of them, but I can't seem to find my groove there. Any tips would be appreciated!

This presumes humanity is a space fairing or interplanetary civilization.\n

How would something like the fediverse, internet, cryptocurrency, etc function with major latency? As an example, a signal takes between 5 and 20 minutes to travel from earth to mars. A roundtrip response would take at best 10 minutes and at worst 40 minutes. Now lets say you live on mars and your home lemmy instance is mars.social. You want to see what news people are chatting about on earth and heard that !news@beehaw.org is a good community. If you put that into your instance search box on mars.social the absolute best you can hope for is a response in 10 minutes. I assume the request would totally fail anyway due to rtt being set to low and the packets expiring before they ever reached the destination. The internet we all know and love is totally intolerant of high latency. Just ask people who use satellite internet or tor.\n
\n
Edit: i think, but am not certain, that ipv6 replaced rtt with hop count. If so this may not be an issue as the time it takes would not matter as long as the hop limit was not reached.
