Heya folks, some people online told me I was doing partitions wrong, but I’ve been doing it this way for years. Since I’ve been doing it for years, I could be doing it in an outdated way, so I thought I should ask.\n
\n
I have separate partitions for EFI, `/`, swap, and `/home`. Am I doing it wrong? Here’s how my partition table looks like:\n
\n
- FAT32: EFI\n
- BTRFS: `/`\n
- Swap: Swap\n
- Ext4: `/home`\n
\n
I set it up this way so that if I need to reinstall Linux, I can just overwrite `/` while preserving `/home` and just keep working after a new install with very few hiccups. Someone told me there’s no reason to use multiple partitions, but several times I have needed to reinstall the OS (Linux Mint) while preserving `/home` so this advice makes zero sense for me. But maybe it was just explained to me wrong and I really am doing it in an outdated way. I’d like to read what you say about this though.

I’m aware of shelter and the work profile, and I was thinking of using Duolingo or Instagram with fake accounts through a VPN with a killswitch so that it can’t associate my data and usage with me.\n

Is that in any way possible? Or am I missing something?\n

I’m running Graphene OS on a Pixel 8 Pro\n

More often than not, the best way to hide is to simply blend in with the crowds – this also encompasses one’s choice for a username. It is relatively simple to make a single throwaway account – just come up with a username, and off you go – however, if one makes throwaway accounts often, the task of thinking of a unique, and non-identifiable username can become a challenge. I would argue that poeple would often resort to using a pattern employing small changes for all subsequent usernames. Such patterns can be identified to a specific user if all users have their own unique patterns.\n
\n
How can one reliably generate many unique-but-normal, and non-pattern-identifiable usernames?

More often than not, the best way to hide is to simply blend in with the crowds – this also encompasses one’s choice for a username. It is relatively simple to make a single throwaway account – just come up with a username, and off you go – however, if one makes throwaway accounts often, the task of thinking of a unique, and non-identifiable username can become a challenge. I would argue that poeple would often resort to using a pattern employing small changes for all subsequent usernames. Such patterns can be identified to a specific user if all users have their own unique patterns.\n

So I’ve recently taken an interest in these three distros:\n
\n
- [NixOS](NixOS)\n
- [blendOS](https://blendos.co/)\n
- [Vanilla OS](https://vanillaos.org/)\n
\n
All of these offer something very interesting: \n
Access to (basically) all Linux-capable software, no matter from what repo.\n
\n
Both *NixOS* and *blendOS* are based on config files, from which your system is basically derived from, and Vanilla OS uses a package manager `apx` to install from any given repo, regardless of distribution.\n
\n
While I’ve looked into *Fedora Silverblue,* that distro is limited to only install Flatpaks (edit: no, not really), which is fine for “apps”, but seems to be more of a problem with managing system- and CLI tools.\n
\n
I haven’t distro hopped yet, as I’m still on [Manjaro GNOME](https://manjaro.org/) on my devices.\n
\n
---\n
\n
What are your thoughts on the three distros mentioned above? \n
Which ones are the most interesting, and for what reasons?\n
\n
Personally, I’m mostly interested in NixOS & blendOS, as I believe they may have more advantages compared to Arch;\n

1. Pause torrents\n

3. Open qBittorrent. Go to Preferences, and then Advanced tab\n

I guess there is no need to introduce what a Degoogled phone is (or a custom ROM without google services, like GrapheneOS is) and the Aurora Store is basically said in a crude way the Google Playstore but without the need to log in to your Google account, quite useful in my opinion.\n
\n
At first, what really concerns me is to run the risk of violating Google’s TOS by logging in with my Google account on the Aurora Store to access my purchased apps, but at the same time I think, since Android is Google’s operating system, can’t they also retaliate against people using a modified version of their OS? And I know that sounds especially stupid when your phone is your phone and not Google’s, but we all know how companies like Google work.\n

I don’t use Google services on my device, but I do use it as a secondary email that I don’t want to lose, hence the question, I know I can create another email but I don’t want to have so many email accounts.

\n
I don’t use Google services on my device, but I do use it as a secondary email that I don’t want to lose, hence the question, I know I can create another email but I don’t want to have so many email accounts.

I didn’t read this series when I was a kid, but I finally got around to reading Roger Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber.\n
\n
Given it’s an older series, I wasn’t sure how much I’d like it (some of those older series age horribly), but it was actually REALLY good still, and the few minor things that’d aged too much wouldn’t be hard to update for a modern audience.\n
\n
But the concept of Amber is fantastic, Corwin’s behavior and arc perfect, and I think a TV series could do it justice nowadays. Man, some CGI artists could do some beautiful work depicting a hellride through shadow.\n
\n
I also would really, really love to see Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern adapted…but there’s a few parts that have aged pretty badly, so it’d need careful handling of things like Lessa and F’lar’s relationship and such. And maybe, you know, keep Jaxom the hell away from Corana.\n
\n
But I think the whole idea of threadfall, and Impressing dragons, could be done beautifully on the screen. I think a run from *Dragonflight* to *All The Weyrs of Pern* (including the Harper Hall Trilogy) could be done. (Then leave the later books out, they don’t really add much, lol.)\n
\n
The series would need a top-notch composer scoring it, though. I’d vote for Natalie Holt. She did wonderfully with Loki, and it’d be a nice touch having a woman score the series that’d have the Harper Hall Trilogy included in it.
