(I know, I dont like it either but I want to play VR games via link cable cause ALVR is really mid) So, I put the ISO on a drive with ventoy, booted it up, got it all going. started to install windows on the empty drive. So, after the five steps it kicks me out of the installer and now, I can’t acess the second drive. Even through moving the boot order on BIOS, it always loads me into pop os. The only time it ever didn’t do this is one time where it seemingly randomly gave me boot options, two of which were Pop_OS and one was “windows boot manager”, which when selected turned off my computer and promptly i booted right back into Pop_OS. If I want to quickly pitch “you should follow X, Y, and Z using RSS because [problems with social media]” to people who have never heard of RSS, what readers should I recommend?\n
\n
I want at least web (not self-hosted), Android, and iOS options. Native apps for Mac and Windows would be nice as well. Linux users probably already know what RSS is.\n
\n
There absolutely must be a free option good for at least 25 feeds because unfamiliar tech is a hard enough sell without having to pay. I’ll grudgingly accept ads if that’s the tradeoff for something beginner-friendly.

While I was switching distros, I accidentally broke a partition. I’m almost certain that all the data is there, but it doesn’t have a filesystem (I used ext4). Is there anything I can do to fix it, similar to changing the file extension without changing the contents. PS: It’s a data partition. I was trying to resize it, accidentally also moved it to the left, found out that it was taking forever to move it, so I cancelled it. Finished the move to the left operation (I think), but it threw up an error about the filesystem. I don’t remember what it was, though.\n
\n
Thanks to everyone who suggested Testdisk. It worked almost perfectly.

Thanks to everyone who suggested Testdisk. It worked almost perfectly.

I have a Samsung Galaxy J3 (2018) smartphone which currently has the stock Samsung Android OS installed on it. I wanted to install an Android “distro” that doesn’t spy on me, like Graphene OS, but I couldn’t find a ROM for it. Since I would probably need to compile AOSP from source code anyways, I though, why not install Gentoo on my smartphone (doing the compilation on a more powerful computer using distcc). I have already installed Gentoo on both my laptop and desktop from a stage3 tarball and I’m loving it, so I guess doing the same on my smartphone wouldn’t be too hard.\n

Now, the problem is that I need to use a few apps that are not available on Linux, like the proprietary app that I use to pay for my bus tickets. How well does waydroid work?

Hello everyone, I just installed Linux (I’m new to it), in particular Linux Mint, with dual booted Windows for games. Tinkered with it a bit, loved the way it looked, loved how fast it is, but I really don’t want to stop on one option and stick with it for a while. I want to try new stuff, new distros (that’s how you call it, right?), new customisation options etc. I really like setting up things how I want them to look like and function, and I’m not sure Linux Mint gives me the full potential of Linux.\n
\n
If I’m right, please recommend something that really will impress me with options (I wouldn’t call myself tech savvy, but I like to learn), or, if I’m wrong, please suggest the way to customize the hell out of Mint, would really appreciate it.\n

Thank you!\n

I have a server where I believe I have disabled root login via ssh. I think it is done correctly, as I cannot login with root myself via ssh, but I would’ve thought that it would be reflected in `/var/log/auth.log`. Instead, it shows up as failed password entry. Is this intended?\n
\n
What I’ve done is to uncomment the `PermitRootLogin no` line in `/etc/ssh/sshd_config`. Rest of the config file is left at default.\n
\n
Bonus question: All login attempts by ssh seems to go over some random port (even my own successful logins). Why is this?

Do y’all know about textise? I don’t see mention of it come up in a quick search. [www.textise.net](https://www.textise.net/)\n
\n
It can be used with the duckduckgo bang **!textise**\n
\n
It also works over Tor, where I can use it as a proxy to avoid Cloudflare checkpoints.\n
\n
I don’t think that it is open source but not completely sure.\n

> Textise is a new way of looking at the Web. It’s an internet tool that removes everything from a web page except for its text.
