I would like to create my first ublue spin as there only is Fedora Sericea currently and I that looked horrible and was very buggy.\n

Looking for some advice on my journey to expand my local storage. Currently, I have a mini PC running my Arr setup with Plex and I have an external enclosure with a HDD connected through USB. I can reliably push 4K to my Android TV. This is the system’s only use and purpose.\n

I need to continue to be able to Hardlink files so that I can seed back while Arr programs are sorting and renaming for Plex.\n

+url: null
+body: """
Ive been tryna figure this out all day, Ive read the manual for systemctl and I didnt see anything about `switch-root` after the initrd target. I did see a `–force` option, however it didnt do anything. Before the upgrade to version 255, I would use a script or manually mount the partition, and then I would just do like `systemctl switch-root /mnt` and it would just switch to the other system in an instant as if I booted it normally. But ever since this update it just prints `Not in initrd, refusing switch-root operation.` and does nothing.\n
\n
Is there a configuration file I can edit to allow switch-root after the initrd? Or is it like hard-coded and systemd would need patching and recompiling to allow for this? If so is there a way to just trick systemd into thinking its in the initrd and just let me switch-root?\n
\n
I was dissappointed when I found out I couldnt just switch-root anymore. Any help, ideas, or suggestions will be much appreciated, thank you!\n
\n
EDIT: To switch root in the new versions of systemd, you will have to mount the filesystem you want to switch root into to `/run/nextroot` and run `systemctl soft-reboot`, and it will switch into the root just like before.

If you don’t know why anonymity is important I’ll suggest you to dig this website to start with www.laquadrature.net/en/support/#chiffrementBTW if I couldn’t be anonymous, I wouldn’t write any post on Lemmy, as I’m not living in a free country !! Look on other instances some admin have found clever way to circumvent bots without the need of an email.\n

I started off thinking that, since it has a metal body, I’d install a [capacitive touch switch](https://www.amazon.com/Control-Replacement-Function-Dimmable-Incandescent/dp/B095P35P2Q), but now it’s escalated to wanting to put an ESP8266 or ESP32 in it to handle the capacitive sensing, Home Assistant connectivity/control, and maybe even switching to some kind of low-voltage RGBW LED instead of a 120VAC Edison-base bulb (especially since I suspect I’d need some kind of antenna sticking out the top, since the metal lamp body would presumably otherwise block the ESP32’s signal).\n
> \n
> The lamp, BTW:\n
> \n
> ![](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/70/db/e3/70dbe34d4bf21ce783038375d446955a.jpg)\n
> \n
> (Apparently it’s a Genie lamp by Laurel Lamp Company, in case anybody cares. Also, the lamp shown is the same model, but it’s not my picture.)\n
> \n
> I’m aware that the “easy” way would probably be to just screw a smart light bulb into the socket and wiring I already have, but (a) I’m picky about both avoiding “clouds” and using FOSS firmware, and I don’t feel like sorting through the junk on Amazon to figure out which ones can be flashed with ESPHome, and more practically (b) that wouldn’t let me turn it on and off just by touching the lamp body, which is what sent me down this rabbit-hole in the first place.\n
> \n
> Anyway, I know this sort of thing *can* be done, but I’m not completely sure *how*. I know I could figure it out myself eventually, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask for advice in case somebody happens to be able to rattle off part numbers for the whole BOM off the top of their head, or knows exactly the right ESPHome howto to point me towards, or something like that. Any advice is welcome!\n
> \n
> (In case it’s relevant: my level of experience is that I programmed an Arduino to run neopixels (WS2812 RGB addressable LEDs) once, I’ve flashed ESPHome on some Sonoff S31 smart switches, and I’m a software engineer by trade but have never worked on anything IoT related professionally.)

In a recent [Matrix blog post](https://matrix.org/blog/2023/11/24/this-week-in-matrix-2023-11-24/) dated November 24, they wrote:\n
\n
“*Matrix 1.9 is due out next week. Keep your eyes peeled for an update.*”\n
\n
This means that we can expect the new version this week. All new features are described [here](https://matrix.org/category/releases/).\n
\n
The most important are:\n
\n
- Role-Based Access Control\n
- Account locking (by server admins) [MSC3939]\n
- Official spec support for **custom emojis and stickers** [MSC2545/MSC1951/MSC3892/MSC4027]\n
\n
I am so excited especially about the custom emojis! Stay tuned 😎

I haven’t been able to find any information about this error anywhere, so I’m hoping to find some help here.\n
\n
I’m using version .150 \n
The problem persists after a phone restart. \n
I haven’t tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that’s what I’m going to try now.\n
\n
*UPDATE: Nope, that didn’t work.\n
\n
*UPDATE #2: I got frustrated with this issue and decided to install another app instead of waiting for someone to come along with the magic answer. Welp, the issue followed me to the Thunder app. This leads me to believe that it’s either an issue with my phone (possible, but I haven’t changed anything on it, either shortly before, or since this problem started) or an issue with Lemmy itself (of which I know absolutely nothing about how it works internally). \n
I did, however, see a big block of code pop up a couple times when Connect was trying and failing to load the comments, but both times it disappeared as soon as I touched the screen. I’m not a programmer, by any stretch if the imagination, so I didn’t notice if it looked weird or anything (other than appearing where it shouldn’t). I’ll keep poking at Connect and Thunder to see if I can get it to do it again so I can try to grab a screenshot.\n
\n
UPDATE #3: I was able to get the block of code to pop up again. This time it stuck around and, even though it wouldn’t let me select and copy the text, let me take pictures. It’s a pretty long chunk of (what I’m guessing is) HTML, which starts with “Error: < ! DOCTYPE html >”(minus some spaces) I took screenshots of the whole thing, but it’s like 60 screens long so, I can edit the pics into one and post it if that helps, but it will take me a while.\n
\n
UPDATE 4: This only seems to happen when I’m logged in. If I’m logged out while using the apps, I can still see the comments.
