**This question is addressed to people who are familiar with video processing/editing.**\n
\n
So… I found some guy on YouTube who creates cinematics for Minecraft servers (I’ll paste a link to an example of one of his videos below).\n
\n
From what I’ve managed to notice, he uses time remapping to slow down and speed up the footage so that the movement of the virtual camera is synced to the music.\n
\n
However, in addition to this, he also uses a “bouncing camera?” effect. I have no idea what to call it and hence my question.\n
\n
What is this effect of shaking the camera in sync with the music? What tools/software should I use to get a similar effect?\n
\n
Minecraft game itself does not have any tools that allow you to achieve such effects. So I’m sure it’s edited.\n

One of the biggest difficulties of most episodic dramas, including the various Star Trek series, is that putting main characters in danger is seldom believable. It’s such a common syndrome that it’s even a pop culture trope: plot armor. Watching the early second-season episode “Unnatural Selection,” in which Dr. Pulaski is infected with a rapid-aging syndrome, I wonder if the writers are counting on the viewers *not* believing Dr. Pulaski has plot armor.\n
\n
After all, she is a recent addition and she is not even listed on the main credits, instead being designated as a “guest star.” More fatally still, the episode supplies fresh background about the character and especially her desire to serve with Picard – and every viewer of a reality TV show knows that once a contestant gets backstory and calls their family on camera, they’re probably going home that episode. Perhaps they even expect viewers to remember that they *did* really kill a main character, Tasha Yar. Maybe this will just be the season of rotating-door Chief Medical Officers, much like season one had a different Chief Engineer every time it came up.\n
\n
I’m especially interested to hear from people who remember watching it when it first aired, but everyone who watches an episode is watching it for the first time. Did *you* think Dr. Pulaski could really die?

[**I want to start calling my adoptive mom “mom” instead of her name**](https://www.reddit.com/r/Advice/comments/z8b2rr/i_want_to_start_calling_my_adoptive_mom_mom/) - 30 November 2022\n
\n
My bio parents put me (15m) up for adoption when I was born so I was always in foster homes until I was twelve. I had a teacher Janice (33f) who was my home room teacher.\n
\n
Janice found out about me being a foster kid and how I wished I had a family. Janice had also been a foster kid growing up and so long story short she then became my foster mom and adopted me.\n
\n
Janice is the best mom I could have ever asked for. She has been so unbelievably kind and loving to me and I absolutely adore her. The problem is that I don’t call her mom, I just call her Janice. I want to start calling her mom but have no idea how to without making it awkward. Please help me internet strangers.\n
\n
**Update:**\n
\n
So…… was not expecting this big of a response. Thank all of you for responding and some of the ideas made me really tear up. Anyways this morning I went to Janice and I said “good morning mom” she just looked at me and started crying then came over and hugged me and kissed my forehead. I hugged her back and she said I could call her whatever made me comfortable and that she loves me more than anything. I just replied with “I love you mom”.\n
\n
So yeah hope this update makes someone’s day because it certainly made mine. Have a great day.\n
\n
Also made a typo I’m 15 not 16 lol\n
\n
**Reminder - I am not the original poster.**\n

I’m still getting used to the fediverse way of doing things, I love it here, I’m just having trouble getting myself up to speed relative to all that I was subscribed to on Reddit.\n

I’d just ask that you avoid blog posts are solely partisan politics, blogs nearly unusable due to ads and such, corporate blogs, and posting things other than blog posts (e.g. news articles). In between creating the original one and now I did find some neat communities like Indie Web, which you should also check. Still the goal here is to make something a bit different in the way I would like to have a community full of only links to blog posts (plus discussions in the comments etc) that could be subscribed to on lemmy [or through RSS](https://lemm.ee/feeds/c/classicblogposts.xml?sort=New).\n
\n
I’d just ask that you avoid blog posts are solely partisan politics, blogs nearly unusable due to ads and such, corporate blogs, and posting things other than blog posts (e.g. news articles). Also, should go without saying, please don’t break FMHY’s rules or your own instance’s rules, and please be nice.

Hello! I’m Matt and I just booted up [Globe.pub](https://globe.pub), a Lemmy instance focused on world travel. I’m trying to build a cozy and friendly home for people who used to have that sort of community on Reddit.\n

\n
- !japan@lemmy.globe.pub – for anything and everything relating to visiting the country of Japan\n
- !onebag@lemmy.globe.pub – travel light, avoid lost luggage, and move faster with one backpack, rather than a giant checked roller bag\n
