Hi everyone!\n
\n
I’m trying to control a “dumb” led light strip segment with an ESP-01S. This is fairly low current, the strip will pull 150mA-200mA max (depends on… artistic? needs).\n
\n
I have two NPN transistors (2N2222), one to control the 12V supply to the white “channel” and the other the red+blue (don’t need the green).\n
\n
I had to pull-down the gates as I had some flickering, and it works perfectly if I manually connect the GPIOs **after** the ESP-01S boots.\n
\n
The ESP will boot if I have the RX pin (GPIO03) pulled down on boot, but not if I pull down any of the others.\n
\n
I’m not smart enough to come up with a way to have that extra pin I need to be high only during boot, while the gate it’s attached to needs to be pulled down…\n
\n
Any thought, other than getting something with more IO pins?

+body: """

So I’ve eaten everything from sardines and toast to balut. I have never really found foods I don’t enjoy, except for Indian food…and balut but that’s a whole other story.\n
\n
I find it’s always the same, overkill on spices, sauce and rice. It’s very unappealing to me for some reason. Almost seems very…lacking in textures, visuals and the flavors are typically just overpowering of cumin. Sometimes it’s been fancy and I had sauce on rice, with a side of more sauces. There never seems to be substance to the foods but sauce and rice.\n
\n
Granted I haven’t explored too much with Indian food but it always looks the same to me. Saying just sauce might be a bit harsh, sometimes it more like stew because there’s chunks of chicken or whatnot but it’s always the same flavor.\n

Can you recommend something from Indian culture that isn’t what I have described above?

I use fish sauce, made from anchovies, pretty often in dishes, but I’ve never really tried making anything with the bigger, sardine style ones. I’ve been meaning to put some in pasta sauce. I’ve read they just dissolve as it simmers and adds good flavor. If you cook with anchovies, what are your favorite ways to use them?"

I use fish sauce, made from anchovies, pretty often in dishes, but I’ve never really tried making anything with the bigger, sardine style ones. I’ve been meaning to put some in pasta sauce. I am on Fedora with KDE (Kinoite) and use virt-manager.\n

I like to test a lot of stuff, but the VMs are not big. As they are dynamically allocated, I create them with 50GB or something.\n

But it seems that virt-manager and also KDE Dolphin see these qcow2 images as being full size, so I currently have only 20GB of “space left”.\n

Do you know anything about this?

I am pretty new to linux so please excuse any foolish mistakes.\n
\n
I am trying to manually install [gpu-screen-recorder](https://git.dec05eba.com/gpu-screen-recorder/about/)(GSR) to get rid of an annoying password prompt that I can’t seem to disable in the flatpak version. I know there must be some way to do it because this prompt didn’t show up on Pop!_OS, but maybe it’s just not possible on Nobara KDE/Fedora. I noticed in the install.sh of GSR, that `setcap cap_sys_admin+ep` is called on the executable. So if you know any way of replicating something like that for flatpaks that is simpler than installing GSR manually, feel free to let me know.\n
\n
I tried checking the dependencies listed, but was unable to figure out how to really make sure they are installed and accessible for GSR.\n
\n
For example: I tried checking for `libglvnd` by running `dnf list libglvnd`. Sure enough, it returns\n
\n
```\n
\n
<span style="color:#323232;">Installed Packages\n
</span><span style="color:#323232;">libglvnd.i686 1:1.6.0-2.fc38 @anaconda\n
</span><span style="color:#323232;">libglvnd.x86_64 1:1.6.0-2.fc38 @anaconda\n
</span>\n
```\n
\n
But then I tried checking for `mesa`, so I ran `dnf list mesa`. But it returned\n
\n
```\n
\n
<span style="color:#323232;">Available Packages\n
</span><span style="color:#323232;">mesa.src 23.2.1-1.fc38 nobara-baseos \n
</span><span style="color:#323232;">mesa.src 23.2.1-1.fc38 nobara-baseos-multilib\n
</span>\n
```\n
\n
It says ‘available packages’, so not installed, right?\n
\n
Well, `glxinfo -B` says I am using mesa 23.2.1, so it seems to be installed, I guess?\n
\n
So, just assuming I had everything necessary, I cloned the repo and tried to just run `install.sh`. However, of course I get an error message: `wayland-scanner: command not found`.\n
\n
I am a bit confused because I am running on wayland, and checked using `loginctl show-session 1 -p Type`.\n
\n
How do I properly make sure the dependencies are available?

+title: "Checking dependencies for manual build and install of software"
+url: null
+body: """
\n
```\n
\n
<span style="color:#323232;">Installed Packages\n
</span><span style="color:#323232;">libglvnd.i686 1:1.6.0-2.fc38 @anaconda\n
</span><span style="color:#323232;">libglvnd.x86_64 1:1.6.0-2.fc38 @anaconda\n
</span>\n
```\n
\n
But then I tried checking for `mesa`, so I ran `dnf list mesa`. But it returned\n
\n
```\n
\n
<span style="color:#323232;">Available Packages\n
</span><span style="color:#323232;">mesa.src 23.2.1-1.fc38 nobara-baseos \n
</span><span style="color:#323232;">mesa.src 23.2.1-1.fc38 nobara-baseos-multilib\n
</span>\n
```\n

I am trying to get Outer Wilds running on my Debian machine, and the “running” itself was a breeze. It runs perfectly on Lutris. But somehow my controller doesn’t communicate with the game. Same applies to steam, Even in Big Picture mode nothing happens on screen when tapping all the buttons or moving some joystick.\n

Does someone know how I could go about fixing this issue? At first I thought that this would be a wine thing, but steam is native, and even it doesn’t recognize the controller…

Can commodity products detect which pixel you’re looking at on a screen?\n

For a number of years, I’ve wanted a system that eliminates mouse pointer devices. In my imaginary system, there are hotkeys bound to left & right mouse clicks, and what gets clicked is whatever you’re looking at.\n
\n
When I’ve looked at this before, the tech field tends to suffer in granularity and/or physical limitations, like needing to limit gross head movements. Most products talk about what they *can* do, but avoid talking about their limitations. It can be hard to find out what devices are capable of - accuracy, working with corrective eyewear, speed, head movement, software (OS) support, etc. Many products are geared at research, leading me to believe the tech isn’t there yet.\n

Anyone have, or used a device that would be able to replace a mouse?

I am a long time pirate and i love to download media. (movies and tv series and other media) A problem that i have with the current releases by the scene is that there are only in English. (i don’t count Anime)\n

This is the last view years come better with the movies and series that come from Netflix but there are a large gap with subs but i like to have my cartoons and if possible anime in my local language with Dubbing.\n
\n
I like to see that the groups in the scene start provide the alternate dubs, I don’t mind if this happen on scene releases day of some days later.\n

This can be include in one mkv file or individual audio files that can easy include in the mkv files.\n

This is not mean that there are some problems with the size if all the dub track are include.\n

An solution for this problem is if we can crate of extent a media container that can over write audio channels. May there are more problems but i think this is a matter of time for fixing this.\n
