So, I run my own instance (dandroid.app), and as of about 10 days ago, all outgoing federation stopped working. Incoming federation still seems to work fine. I’m not sure exactly what changed. It was around the time that I set up pihole on my network, but I have since shut down pihole and federation has not resumed. I have tried restarting all the services with docker-compose down and then up. I also tried restarting my server completely.\n
\n
What debugging steps can I take to figure out where the failure is occuring?

I’m trying to connect a university ipad (air, usb 3 type c, not tb or lightning) to my laptop (Framework laptop, intel 12th gen) running Fedora workstation 39. On Windows, I used a nifty app called Duet Display. I just used a usb-c cable to plug the ipad into the laptop, launched the app on both devices, and windows would see an external monitor. Scaling and resolution worked fine, and latency wasn’t perfect, but was more than enough for a secondary display. With settings tweaked, artifacting was minimal.\n
\n
I know there are remote desktop protocols and apps, but I really want to avoid a wireless connection. Remote desktop over the internet is wasteful and unreliable, and as for local network, ,my university has some strict controls on its wifi network and I cannot reliably connect my devices. Even if I could, the reliability and latency are still bad.\n
\n
Duet over usb always worked and didn’t rely on a wireless connection, but it also is closed source and windows and mac only.\n
\n
From what I can see online, the best way for an ipad to display content from another device is going to be a remote desktop protocol as it does not directly accept video signals like HDMI-in. The ipad can also connect to a network over usb c/ethernet.\n
\n
It seems the best approach would be to create a local network on my PC and connect my ipad to it with the cable, and then use a remote desktop client on the ipad.\n
\n
Is this a good approach? If so, how exactly would I make the usb connection share a local network connection?\n
\n
Note I only want to connect the ipad to the laptop. I understand if the ipad will not connect to wifi while connected to ethernet, and I don’t need to share the internet connection with the ipad. My computer still needs to be connected to wifi/ethernet to access my university network, however.

Sci-Hub is a site to access scholar articles that are behind a paywall. The site has been involved in several legal cases such as [Elsevier et al. v. Sci-Hub et al. (2005)](https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/4355308/elsevier-inc-v-sci-hub/), a lawsuit filled by the American Chemical Society which was lost by default after failing to defend itself, and many other complaints resulting in ISP blockings and domain names being lost.\n

There is an ongoing lawsuit taking place in India at the Delhi High Court, but its site ([working](https://dhc.nic.in/dhc_case_status_oj_list.asp?pno=1019626), [not working](https://delhihighcourt.nic.in/court/judegment_orders?pno=1019626)) has been down several times in the last months and the transcript of cases after 2023-09-02 are [“unavailable”](https://164.100.60.183/dhcqrydisp_o.asp?pn=198394&yr=2023).\n

Overall, the future of sci-hub being a legally recognized entity (by India) looks grim based on the available transcripts but, is there another source for the current status of the case?

Sci-Hub is a site to access scholar articles that are behind a paywall. The site has been involved in several legal cases such as [Elsevier et al. v. Sci-Hub et al. (2005)](https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/4355308/elsevier-inc-v-sci-hub/), a lawsuit filled by the American Chemical Society which was lost by default after failing to defend itself, and many other complaints resulting in ISP blockings and domain names being lost.\n
\n
There is an ongoing lawsuit taking place in India at the Delhi High Court, but its site ([working](https://dhc.nic.in/dhc_case_status_oj_list.asp?pno=1019626), [not working](https://delhihighcourt.nic.in/court/judegment_orders?pno=1019626)) has been down several times in the last months and the transcript of cases after 2023-09-02 are [“unavailable”](https://164.100.60.183/dhcqrydisp_o.asp?pn=198394&yr=2023).\n
\n
Overall, the future of sci-hub being a legally recognized entity (by India) looks grim based on the available transcripts but, is there another source for the current status of the case?

I found this guide – […videohelp.com/…/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple…](https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple-of-Doom) – that has an ‘Edit January 2023’ example for how to rip from TG4 Seinntóir/Player.\n

I’m not sure is there still a such a singular [video file URL]. My mental model is that when the tutorial was written there was one file, now TG4 have gotten more cautious and split it up into tiny one-second segments. Is this hypothesis right? Here’s a TG4 link for example: [www.tg4.ie/ga/player/catagoir/siamsaiocht/seinn/?…](https://www.tg4.ie/ga/player/catagoir/siamsaiocht/seinn/?pid=6339798682112)\n
\n
I found this guide – […videohelp.com/…/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple…](https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple-of-Doom) – that has an ‘Edit January 2023’ example for how to rip from TG4 Seinntóir/Player.\n
\n
But I get different results. When I do this step…\n
\n
> **2**. MPD - describes the media and how to get it. Developer Tools (F12 in your browser) select Network tab and enter ‘mpd’ in the filter box. Then start the video. Copy the url. It will look similar to this, BUT DO NOT USE THIS ONE, get a fresh copy. as it carries a token, which needs to be fresh each use.\n
\n
…it seems to be the mpd not of the television program, but of the 5-second video of the TG4 logo.\n
\n
I’m not sure is there still a such a singular [video file URL]. In the “Developer Tools (F12 in your browser) select Network tab” I see lots and lots of ‘segments’ with .m4f extension coming from Brightcove. My mental model is that when the tutorial was written there was one file, now TG4 have gotten more cautious and split it up into tiny one-second segments. Is this hypothesis right? Is there a way to do Step 2 in […videohelp.com/…/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple…](https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/404994-Decryption-and-the-Temple-of-Doom) ?\n
