I have a very short equipment rack installed in my server closet. It is only 16 inches deep, fine for most networking uses, but not great for most rack-mount server cases.\n

I am looking for case suggestions that would fit my rack, 16 inch depth maximum. Height isn’t a problem, the rack has a ton of vertical space, over 15U, it’s the depth that’s an issue.\n

Thanks!

+body: """
Since MOSFETs have a gate capacitance you’d want to limit the inrush of current from the output of a microcontroller to prevent it from getting damaged prematurely. That’s what gate resistors are usually good for.\n
\n
Another thing is that most MOSFETs don’t fully activate with a gate voltage below 10V (n type) so usually a microcontroller pin isn’t good enough for switching large loads.\n
\n
I have a 24V system and have made a voltage divider using two 10k resistors to step down 24V to 12V as gate driving voltage which is pulled down with a weaker MOSFET. The power MOSFET essentially ends up with a 10k gate resistor this way meaning it will take a bit longer to fully saturate.\n
\n
Is too high harmful? In this situation the load is a heater that activates when the room temperature drops below 18C and deactivates when it gets above 22C so fast switching is not an issue.

As something of a history buff I’ve read about a fair few Kings and Queens through history. There are many of them, most mediocre, a lot of them objectively bad, however, now and again one stands out from the masses as a good one.\n

So, what (according to you) makes a good monarch? Feel free to point to a particular person, or event as an example :)

After a very enlightening discussion in a previous thread, I decided to plunge into a mesh type network to connect my various servers and devices.\n
\n
Nebula has been fairly straight forward to set up so far, but I’m having some trouble with the details and am curious if anybody has successfully got Nebula up and running for their network.\n
\n
Installation on Linux platforms has been a breeze. Windows I can’t seem to get working. I was able to install but the service refuses to start. Can’t find any documentation besides random GitHub issue threads. MacOS was easy to install but having issues due to a VPN that’s running already.\n
\n
I use a VPN because I travel a lot. I also use my MacBook to SSH into my servers or access remote file storage. My previous network configuration was connecting via wireguard to my network. I was able to do this while maintaining an always on VPN with the mullvad app. With Nebula that VPN seems to muck things up.\n
\n
I’m also curious if anybody has had experience setting up a dual config for Nextcloud. Essentially accessing a Nextcloud server from nebula with a trusted device while still allowing public access for things list public shared links.

I feel second-hand fear & paranoia on behalf of celebs whose home addresses are public worldwide knowledge.\n

Anyone can google their address and show up/take pictures/lurk/stalk,\n

But thankfully most people would never think to do such a thing nor have any inclination to do so,\n

but the fact that they COULD and sometimes HAVE, is very concerning 😟\n

I wish sensitive information like that could be kept proprietary and wasn’t so easy for anyone in the world to access.\n

You know as a matter of fact, it’s much more difficult to find the address of acquaintances we know in daily life. Which is a good thing.\n

How terrifying it must b for celebrities, so they have body guards and a security detail and full-fledged security system at their houses 😥 it’s exhausting thinking about it.

So either a trait or idea someone has that others make fun of, that saves the day?\n
\n
My example:\n
\n
Mine is back in 7th grade there was going to be a chocolate fondue day. 5 kids volunteered to bring chocolate chips for the chocolate fountain, then everyone else just said what they would bring. Most people said like marshmallows, Graham crackers, pretzels, the like.\n
\n
One kid said he’s bringing chocolate bars. The teacher was confused and actively tried to discourage this idea. But the kid was insistent that dipping cold chocolate bars in a chocolate fountain was amazing. Some kids even made fun of him a bit, but the teacher moved on cause at the end of the day he could could bring what he wanted and it was all volunteer so can’t be picky.\n
\n
The day comes along and… most of the kids who were supposed to bring the chocolate chips for the chocolate fountain didn’t. The fountain couldn’t even start with how little chocolate showed up. I think only one person brought a bag, which was not enough at all for a class of 25.\n
\n
Then comes in our Rudolph with a giant bag of fun sized hershy milk chocolate bars.\n
\n
There was no clapping or anything dramatic, but as soon as he showed up the teacher pulled him aside and a few minutes later his chocolate bars had been melted in the teacher break room and chocolate fountain day was saved!

TLDR: If you were building a NAS for 8 HDDs and 1 SSD today, what case would you use?\n

I’ve got 8 HDDs that need to fit in the system after it’s rebuilt (plus at least one SSD) so I’m kinda limited in that regard.\n
