Hey there, I’ve been using for example abjects irc for some time now with great pleasure, but it’s kind of bothering me that I don’t find a way to automate it in some way… I wanted to try Overseerr and radarr, etc., but I noticed then, that those don’t support ircs/xdccs.\n
\n
Does anybody have a way with Plugins or something to enable xdccs on those?\n
\n
I also found cli xdcc downloaders, but those are not offering search options.\n
\n
Then I tried using irssi, for now this would kind of be enough, together with other measures. But I am not able to configure it nicely and there are many question marks on that.\n
\n
Does anybody know a different/better irc cli client, which also supports xdcc?\n
\n
I’m open for all hints belonging to xdccs :) Torrenting isn’t my thing tbh.\n
\n
Greetings :)

Hi all,\n
\n
I’m looking for a comprehensive Excel online course. I’m very familiar with Office products and would consider myself an expert. However, my weak spot is Excel - for sure. Especially when it comes to formulas.\n
\n
I’m looking for a comprehensive Excel online course that focuses on formulas (nested formulas, vlookup, pivot tables) and offers lots of practical case studies - not just explaining.\n
\n
It would be great if the course would have a mix of video and text explanation. And - as I said before - lots of hands on training.\n
\n
I’d rather pay for a really great course than a mediocre free one.\n
\n
Any recommendations? Thanks a lot!

Hi all,\n

+title: "Looking for a good tablet PC distro"
+url: null
+body: """
I just inherited a handful of Samsung Series 7 Slate PCs that I’d like to rebuild to be as “tablet-like” as possible for a few non-technical friends and family. They power up but arrived with non-functional Windows 7 installs. They’re Intel Core i5s with 4G RAM and 128G SSDs, so they should run pretty well under any popular Linux distro. I’m personally comfortable in the command line and don’t want to sacrifice the fact that these are “real computers with a real OS” on them, but I’d still like them to behave somewhat similar to Android tablets for less techie users.\n
\n
If these were laptops with keyboards and trackpads I’d probably just install kubuntu or Mint on them and call it a day, but I’m not sure if KDE Plasma behaves well on a touchscreen tablet interface with (hopefully) an on-screen keyboard and so forth. Ubuntu Touch sounds somewhat promising, but I haven’t really played with it. I don’t want to waste hours trying to get device drivers to work for the touchscreen and other built-in hardware, so I’m hoping for a novice-friendly distro that usually just works out of the box on most hardware.\n
\n
Does anyone have an obvious choice they’d like to recommend? Thanks so much!\n
\n
Edit - Update:\n
\n
Zorin OS (Edu) for the win, with Pop! OS essentially a tie. Both distros do a fantastic job out of the box offering tablet options like on screen keyboards that automatically pop up when needed. I’m giving Zorin the win only because it just happened to be the last distro I installed and haven’t had a reason to replace it yet.\n
\n
Distros I tested for use on these tablets:\n
\n
Bliss OS - Honestly, I really wanted to like this, in spite of it being an Android clone instead of a proper Linux DE. It sports an obviously tablet-friendly UI that almost won me over… except there were horrible issues just typing in basic settings like wifi password. The keyboard kept disappearing mid-password, making me start over repeatedly. I finally had to grab a real keyboard to join wifi, and it still misbehaved. Not an experience I want my less geeky family members to share.\n
\n
kubuntu - I run this on a personal laptop and was biased toward it from the start. It isn’t really a great tablet experience though, even with xvkbd installed. Works great while docked of course, since it’s a Linux DE I already use.\n
\n
ubuntu-unity - Another good DE, but just not very tablet friendly. I guess I hoped this would be more like Ubuntu Touch, which I was really excited about as a new phone possibility awhile ago, but just never really went anywhere. Instead it’s just Ubuntu with the Unity DE and no automatic on-screen kb.\n
\n
Pop! OS - I really like this, and might start playing with it more as a laptop OS as well. I truly love KDE Plasma, but I also find Pop!'s DE really intuitive.\n
\n
Zorin OS (Edu) Loved this, left it installed. Their built-in Windows App compatibility (wine + PlayOnLinux) comes pre-configured to provide a surprisingly refreshing user experience. On a fluke, I wanted to see if I could run my mixer app on the tablet, and starting with nothing more than downloading the installer .exe file from Mackie’s website, Zorin prompted me all the way through to a working app. Friendliest wine experience I’ve ever had, by miles.\n
\n
Anyone have anything else they’d like to recommend? I’m always interested. Did I not give a popular distro a fair enough shot? I admittedly didn’t invest a huge amount of time stress-testing each distro beyond initial setup and config from within the tablet-specific interface. I was mainly testing for out-of-box tablet experience, especially in regards to basic setup like joining wifi and attempting to browse the web, which shouldn’t require a hard kb connected IMO.\n
\n
Edit 2: Fixed copy/paste edit issue, no new info)

Yesterday I created a post on a regional community on lemmy.ca.\n
\n
Fairly quickly thereafter, I got a DM saying that the post had been removed because someone who disagreed with me complained. Oddly though, the DM came from a @Automod@lemmy.world - not the server hosting the community.\n
\n
Furthermore, I still see the post when I go looking - and there has been a bit of discussion about it.\n
\n
So my questions:\n
\n
(a) Can a post be removed from a specific federated instance without being removed from the original instance? (b) Is there an appeal process for removed posts? I’m sorry that the guy got all butthurt, but my post was sincere, measured, and (I think) reasonable. If it offended someone, they should discuss it.

I am going to build a router with OPNSense (in Proxmox, on an HP thin client). I am stuck with setting up the networking (I have the Inel 4-port card). I don’t really know how to get started. Right now my device has one LAN cable going into it, and my consumer router is doing everything. I can set up a bridge for the other ports, but what IP address will I use for the LAN? I can’t use 192.268.0.1 because that will collide with my consumer router. Do I just take my consumer router offline while I am setting this up?I’d rather not because for sure I will get stuck and will want to look something up online. I guess I could use my phone but not the best when I am trying to see someone setting up something like this.\n
\n
Silly question, I know, but I just can’t think of a clean way to get this going with minimal disruption. In a nutshell, what’s a good strategy for setting up and testing the OPNSense while it’s not actually doing any routing and then seemlessly drop it in and start working on it?
