Hello evryone, I need help with this annoying problem where I can’t connect to some specific wifi even though I’m entering the correct password.\n
\n
I went to a coffee house near my in-laws for some alone time where I got this annoying problem again. I was able to connect normally to their wifi (TP VSTM) using my phone but not on my laptop. So I made a QR image of that wifi (on my phone while connecting to it) and read it online (on my laptop) to make sure I’m entering the correct password. I tried connecting using nmtui at first but it kept prompting me to re-enter the password, then using nmcli which showed a message about a secret not provided.\n

Hi there,\n

I recently saw the movie: Black Swan. Good picture, good acting! One thing that stood out to me though was the fact that this movie is kinda dreary. It suited the movie perfectly. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any other movies where the setting is just depressing/dreary for no apparent reason*.\n

Hi! My less-than-10-year-old has their own iPad (registered under my apple id) and wants to be able to “text” with the rest of the family. Most of us are not Apple people though: Android phones, using some combo of SMS, Discord, and Signal. The little one doesn’t have a phone, so I think that prevents us from signing them up for Signal. I could probably install Discord on the iPad, though it doesn’t feel ideal. They use iMessage (or whatever it’s called) to text a couple other friends/grandma/etc who also have Apple stuff, but what should we use for our mostly-non-Apple family that wouldn’t require a phone number?\n
\n
An internet search pointed me to WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber… stuff I’ve never used but it seems popular. Facebook Messenger also, but screw that. Google Chat/Hangouts (or whatever it’s called now) is another option, which would require creating a google account.\n
\n
If nothing else appeals to me we’ll probably go the Discord route, and I’ll just have to be clear, don’t join random servers :) But, anybody out there use WhatsApp with your kid, and does it not require a phone number? I’m open to other ideas! Thank you…

I’ve got a fairly new 14tb Seagate Expansion. It works fine, and I’ve been using it for a month and a bit.\n
\n
I don’t know how long it’s been doing this, but the power supply is making a very faint alarm sound. The power supply is plugged into a Belkin surge protector powered on and with the “protected” status light lit, and it is plugged into an outlet. The HDD is currently not plugged in to a computer.\n
\n
It’s not a beep or electricity. It’s a distinct weewooweewoo. I couldn’t even determine the source until I pressed my ear against it.\n
\n
Googling just points me towards typical “my HDD is making a sound, how long do I have until it dies”, but nothing pointed me to the alarm sound from the power supply.\n
\n
I’ll check again if it makes the alarm in other conditions, but in the meanwhile, I was hoping someone here might know something.\n
\n
Thanks in advance!\n
\n
EDIT: The sound only happens when…\n
\n
- Power adapter is plugged into the HDD, AND the outlet\n
- HDD is NOT plugged into the computer.\n
\n
Plugging it into the computer stops the noise from the power adapter.
