That’s not only a search engine problem in itself - websites also got worse in general to appeal to googles algorithm. Which means that other search engines would show similar crap, unfortunately.
Maybe navigating is the wrong term. It’s just impossible to find stuff relevant to me on discord. On any given larger server, there may be a few channels I could be interested in - but they are just a single chat log, often with lots of off-topic spam, and many different people having almost separate discussions at the same time. On any given larger phpBB, stuff is mostly separated into different threads with all the off-topic posts being delegated to a single thread. It’s better searchable and better organized.
I may be getting old, but I think D*scord (I’m all for cencoring it like a slur) isn’t any more simple than a phpBB or something similar was. Quite the opposite actually, at least for any user trying to navigate the the darn thing.
The penny for sure. The mask might give you 7 more hours but the penny gives you 8, if you use it for money.
The glasses could be nice, but that depends wholly on the value system. Is charisma naturally rated 1 to 10? +35 is awesome! On a scale from 1 to 1000 not so much.
For example, I used to follow a lot of subreddits for individual YouTube content creators, however, Lemmy doesn’t really have the size or culture to support this currently.
That’s just useless semantics, neither funny nor clever. The pig you bought may be dead, but the money you pay will be used to raise and kill other pigs.
Some are great. Take the Chrome one: Go to wikipedia and know something about pretty much everything. A lot of knowledge is useful even if you don’t properly understand everything.
Youtube is a lesser version of Chrome.
What’sApp entirely depends on how easily gullible rich people would give you money. You could probably just sell those information too.
Netflix and Amazon could yield some nice money.
Spotify would massively decrease the barrier of learning new instruments if you’re into that. But many of the benefits can be achieved by scrolling through notes/lyrics with the Chrome benefit.
I’ve studied for years and got a well paying job, I cannot just switch to something else without cutting my pay in half. But my work isn’t enjoyable, it outright sucks on most days. Going to bed early surrenders the only time of the day I can be happy and skips right to work again.
What do you think I finance my happiness and wellbeing with? Having more ‘fun’ at work does not offset the new problems like worrying about rent or food. There is no happy middleground really, I mostly enjoy things that do not pay at all.
Pretty much everything. I didn’t watch many things when I was single, I prefer more active things like games or social activities.
Since I got my girlfriend, I’ve been keeping up with a lot of anime series/movies since she’s a weeb. But we haven’t seen anything except Barbie with actual people.
However, there are so many memes about the good stuff, I feel like I’ve seen enough about all of them anyway.
It’s same data of men who suddenly develop lung cancer after their first month of smoking. Doesn’t mean it won’t come back and bite you in the long term.
“In all, men who averaged 4.6–7 ejaculations a week were 36% less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer before the age of 70 than men who ejaculated less than 2.3 times a week on average.”
It’s still a “fun self-control challenge” if you just stop watching porn for the month. Nothing wrong with that. But the masturbation part is just silly religious stuff with a dash of prostate cancer.
It’s actually funny though. I said my fair share of generally downvoted stuff, but most of my replies that weren’t completely overlooked end up with something between 10 and 100 likes as well as exactly 1 dislike.

If you could have any game remade by a studio of your choice, who would you want working on what?
For example, I’d take We Happy Few and put it into the hands of either Remedy (of Alan Wake & Control fame) or IO Interactive (of Hitman series fame).
