Valmond,

Ha ha nice name ^^

So carbon ink or Indian :-D ? I made a community for art in progress !aip to share progress, there are so many parameters and combinations…

So what are you drawing and what are inspiring you most?

Valmond, (edited )

What a crap take.

Edit: it’s not because Sony steals(? I actually don’t know but it was probably in something you signed so ‘legally’ not theft, but again, IDK. Shitty? Yeah.) stuff that piracy is justified. Piracy is justifidled by other moral means IMO. I don’t need Sony (or Microsoft, Apple, or whoever) to help my morals when it comes to pirating.

Valmond,

And I’m totally in favour of that. I was just hitting at the shitty click bait title.

Valmond,

Or the French (ugh, some relatives was from Lithuania so maybe not that french?)

With cut up boiled (in France I guess “hard” boiled, but just so that the yellow isn’t liquid any more) eggs, onions (red, sweet , white, whatever just cut them more if they’re too ‘strong’, use the amount you find adequate(IMO for a foreigner this is so French)) and a mustard-olive oil-vinegar sauce (fluffed up obviously, not just mixing. Mustard + a LITTLE vinegar and then slowly mix the oil in with the gentle battering by a small spoon…).

Potatoes cut up too ofc (boiled beforehand) and just delicately mix it all (or you’ll get a sort of claylike thing. Totally good but less enjoyable).

Pff, I’m just off the table and I’m thinking of the next meal already 😊

Valmond,

Microsoft.

To be fair I only have given them money (indirectly) once buying a gaming laptop with preinstalled windows.

There are lots of others of course, but who knows which brand is actually Nestle or Lactalis etc.

What inconsequential or surprisingly good thing can I get from Aliexpress?

Im curious as I usually use the site very occasionally to get certain electronic parts or order from PCBway like I just picked up some cheap but infinitely better than stock gps antennas for my LoRa T beams and im about to get a set of also still cheap but much better than stock 915mhz antennas but i kinda wanna throw some other...

Valmond,

Electronics, any kind of computer cables, switches, kvm, router, hub, mouse-wiggler etc.

Soldering station, air filters, belts, phone chargers, usb cables. NEMA stepper motors.

Bike lights. 18650 Batteries. Drones. NFC tags. Light table. Sun glasses.

IR Thermometer, blood oxygen tester.

I even bought socks there, quite ok and dirt cheap!

Reading glasses.

I’d avoid :

Fountain pens (they’re “ok” but not Lamy Safari quality), wrist watches suck badly. Small scissors.

I buy so much on AliExpress 😅

Valmond,

Ah Terry Pratchett. Mortimer was it, right? I have mostly read the French translations so I might be wrong here.

Valmond,

Who are the two youngsters behind him?

I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....

Valmond,

Are we getting astroturfed already?

Valmond,

Fair enough, I completely forgot about bringing games, with forceps 😊, to the Linux platform.

Mea culpa.

I’m probably just a tiny bit itchy after years on Reddit.

Valmond,

Yeah, even if it was from the beginning of dawn. No need to check out tape before the guy parked his bike.

Valmond,

We should rename it to “Trackers”.

Valmond,

Remember how I played Bounty Bob without knowing that if you jumped straight up, ju could start a side-jump any time you were in the air (by wiggling left or right), making livel 23 finishable…

That one tile you had to walk on, I spent so much time trying to jump in the craziest patterns to get to it with no success of course 😅

Valmond,

He has a f… Frigging big head for that body.

Valmond,

Smells like windows, Facebook, Google, …

Good starters but today will just crush you to earn that Q3 +3%

I don’t even have anything like Plex, but because of you I’ll check out lemmyfin, I mean jellyfin.

Valmond,

Where I live there are tries every this date, so when it really comes to your mind that its sounding awfully strong and long time than usually… It sure kicks you into another mood.

Valmond,

Weell, I mean it’s not far far away but tell me how to make a correct link on Lemmy (and I will not ask for the meaning of 20047 or the Englishy greenish color 😉):

Seems to work for someone:

lemm.ee/post/!art[@dnzm

Works in a browser:

lemmy.ml/c/watercolor

Should work but if I paste it in the search bar of say Jerboa, it doesn’t find anything:

!watercolor

It will all fall together in the end IMO but there are still a couple things to iron out.

Must say I like the smaller world here where everything (almost nothing?) isn’t driven by some dopamine kick selling point😊

For disappearing communities, it’s a shame but I hope it’s just communities thinking they could be new Reddit subs, which IMO is (excepted small established niche subs) very different from at least what I think a Lemmy community ‘should’ be.

We’ll see :-)

Valmond,

Yeah IDK, it didn’t work yesterday, now they do…

Valmond,

The keyword here is "don’t need to understand too much " which is more than for TikTok or Reddit.

It’s not (yet) very streamlined either, it’s a little bit of work to make your stream of information coming etc.

Like how a server doesn’t show you all the communities, “only” those users on that server have already subscribed to (+the locals).

Not that hard but harder than TikTok :-)

Valmond,

Thanks, and it works today, guess my instance had some hiccup yesterday…

Ah yes of course! I was thinking of the leet codes put in stack memory or something 😁 (like IIRC Nintendos DS compiler put 0xDEAD all over it some other was 0xC0FFEE… etc, it was to catch stack overflows).
