Valmond,

To be fair IMO you at least need some mindset that like okay this isn’t working, how can I tackle that? Rage isn’t sufficient in the long term and Lemmy itself isn’t exactly user friendly just yet.

It’s a bizarre new medium after all. I love it, maybe partly because of it.

Valmond,

Thanks, but yeah, I’m more into books. Like for the back bone of things, for the daily error I’ll be on the web for sure.

Valmond,

Ha ha thanks 😊 party time 🥳🎉 !

I’m sort of in between I guess, I’m a senior dev and I mean I get to it when needed like doing that vi ~/.bashrc for an env var (and ~/.bashrc to (re)load it right?), fixing some script or installing “stuff” or so.

Server soft I write is usually for Linux, the rest on Wind. But I also decided to switch my daily driver over and I have a curious mind so if I can’t sleep I’d love to have some big good old book to check out for ‘stuff’ I do not yet know!

Maybe you’re right and I should go on and install everything from scratch (that’s it with Arch right, of am I messing it up with some more bare metal install? A colleague did that compile install everything once a bunch of years ago, he spoke about it for weeks :-).

Walking Desk Is More Annoying Than A Standing Desk (hackaday.com)

I feel like there was a missed opportunity to use some of the spare computing power on the desk to add some helpful navigational autonomy. Like using a backward facing web camera for lane assist, obstacle avoidance, route following, etc. Could leverage something open source like Autoware.org to get most of the way there....

Valmond,

If they are straightened out they might not be able to mingle/mix-up.

Valmond,

Isn’t it Covet 19?

Or would that be stupider

Valmond,

I have both a bike and financial freedom.

Valmond,

I tried out a bunch and ended up with Voyager, maybe it doesn’t have that option?

Filtering keywords is for me a tad too much. I’d prefer fomilter communities :-)

Valmond,

Oh my, you just made my entire month.

And probably way more, thank you ❤️

Valmond, (edited )

Went down that road

Edit: I know how to put a link and a description, it’s square brackets and parentheses, plus the link and the text. It’s always the eight try that’s the right one.

Valmond,

Yeah keep it simple is IMO a good thing.

Like not saying it’s like email servers or something, I got that and I know Reddit and how email servers works and it just muddied the waters for me.

What do you think about this? It’s like Reddit but everyone can make theirs if they want to.

Valmond,

Saudi Arabia flag holder?

Otherwise you feel comfortable to talk about anything that bothers you with them.

Valmond,

Neither does the cat IMO 😹

Valmond,

One thing for long range electric hauling is high voltage DC lines, or so I learned when I worked for EDF/RTE

400.000+ volt DC.

I do not know the theory behind it though, and IIRC its for Europe and land.

Valmond,

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

(Who’s guarding the guardians)

Valmond,

With a lovely SO in a little house in the hills.

Valmond,

Not with that attitude ;-)

You can if you want to, but I bet the problem is more “cultural”, so a shift in people is needed. Like make it illegal to make publicity about it for under 21 yo. And show the grim aftermath in stores selling guns. Then no publicity at all and so on. Tax guvs and bullets, educate people.

We did it with cigarettes, and it worked out really well IMO. Today cigarettes are not “cool” anymore and usage has been falling sharp.

Valmond,

France:

Do we drink?

Well, are we going to eat? Like sometime in the future.

Valmond,

How do you even measure that?

Valmond,

-“Hello, it’s from the institute of statistics. Can we ask you some questions, like do you do illegal stuff?”

Valmond,

I hate the photoshopped photos of those “celebrities” in the news.

I mean splash one of the Elon news on this photo mother fuckers!
