glimse, to selfhosted in Private and/or cheap places to register a domain

I took a look and didn’t see domains mentioned until you go to the members login page. It’s not even on the sign up page.

So, uh, maybe go take a look at the link you’re posting. And also don’t write “pay for what you use” when someone is asking about buying a domain if you don’t want people to think you misunderstood the question

glimse, to comicstrips in "Outdoor Cat vs Indoor Cat" by Sarah Andersen

Now today you can learn that outdoor cats kill wildlife for fun. You can also learn that outdoor cats have half the life expectancy as indoor cats

Depends on if you live on a farm or not*

It’s not like European outdoor cats don’t murder wildlife and get killed

Jake Johnson is really funny though

glimse, to stallmanwasright in 'Our long-term objective is to make printing a subscription' says HP CEO gunning for 2024's Worst Person of the Year award

There’s a few industries that cling to it for that (weak) reason but it’s obsolete as soon as they let go

I mean I only use my own printer once a year at most but plenty of other people still have to print things personally and professionally for various reasons. Many printed things can be replaced by technology but not everything. Fax was just a way to get information from one place to another - every single part of what it does is done better and easier with email and other tech

Unlike fax, printers weren’t completely superceded by computers and the Internet. They’ll still be useful for decades or more

glimse, to asklemmy in Why do you think so many people misuse asklemmy?

I think it was an overall failure (not blaming you specifically or anything) because it feels forced. The majority of “content” is just reposted memes, there’s no real people to go along with it.

Most Lemmy communities don’t feel like communities. They’re just meme repositories - as if we needed 10 places all hosting the same pictures in a different order

glimse, to asklemmy in Why do you think so many people misuse asklemmy?

It’s full of reply-baiting vent posts like “why would [company] do [something that favors profit over user experience]?”

I’ve seen only a handful of “good” questions

glimse, to asklemmy in Why do you think so many people misuse asklemmy?

We copied over subreddits without copying the spirit. It’s a free-for-all on most of these communities and it sucks

Nostupidquestions is full of questions that belong here

glimse, to movies in Does anyone else remember this movie or am I going crazy?

Post a higher quality picture so we can get a better look at that cover

glimse, to baldurs_gate_3 in [SPOILER] How do you interpret the intro?

You have! So much left to do lol

glimse, to baldurs_gate_3 in [SPOILER] How do you interpret the intro?

Ah you might be right there. I thought they were hunting the nautiloid for the artifact like Voss’s patrol is

glimse, to piracy in New Flashcard for Nintendo Switch. Team Xecuter might be behind it.

That’s not so bad!

glimse, to baldurs_gate_3 in [SPOILER] How do you interpret the intro?

Orin’s sibling was the first of the Absolute’s tadpole victims, weren’t they? Haven’t played in a couple months but that’s what I remember from the dark urge storyline.

I was also under the impression that the emperor was in the astral prism since before the story started. I’m not sure if the mindflayers knew about the emperor either since they just left the artifact in a bag on the ground - their mission seemed to be all about tadpoling people

The story was left open to interpretation but I’m inclined to think the emperor was not involved in any kidnapping or tadpoling.

And Lae’zel was definirely part of a mission to recover the artifact (for Orpheus - they definitely don’t know about the emperor) and got captured, she wasn’t just hunting mindflayers
