Be honest, do you still use reddit?

I used to check the front page at least once every day, and occassionally check specific subreddits. Now I don’t look at reddit unless theres some drama, like mods getting purged, then I’d go there and enjoy the drama. Occasionally there will be questions that only reddit has the answer to so I have to reluctantly use it. I got my uBlock Origin ready to kill all the ads. That shitty website will not get a cent out of me.

What about you? Do you still use reddit?

deweydecibel,

Why is this pinned? And which apps let you block instances wholesale?

I’ve looked maybe a handful of times over the past couple weeks, mostly to look at /r/modcoord and /r/save3rdpartyapps. Even then, I used libreddit. Other than that, I’ve not visited for really any other reason.

Lemmy + Mastodon is doing a good enough job being my daily time waster. There’s definitely less content here but I am but one man, it’s not like I could go through all of Reddit’s bot-generated daily content anyway.

I occasionally poke my head in to see if it’s dead yet, but other than that no.

paddirn,

I do not at all. I’m avoiding even Google Search results that go to Reddit. I have not used Reddit since June 12, other than to fully wipe all of my accounts on June 30. I’ve moved on and it’s been an easier transition than I thought it would be.

UnfortunateBlaster69,

I unsubbed from all reddits that don’t support the resistance except for a few small ones. And I go to lemmy for most things

PeWu,

I’m not using reddit as a daily driver, but I visit it when I’m looking for answers.

DrQuint,

Yes and No.

Smaller communities with no equivalent, I’m there and still active. Technology, memes and world news, I’m here. But I’m also on other sites more again.

FapMaster69,

Kept using 3rd party apps until they shut down. I personally wouldn’t be caught dead on the offical reddit app just on principal. I tried using the desktop site a couple times until I found Lemmy!

The major exception to this is if I look up a question or something and theres an answer on Reddit, I’ll still click that link.

Sigmatics,

Just checked today and found out that they decided to rob all users of their coins.

Unfortunately some topic specific subs haven’t made the jump to Lemmy yet, so for those I still have to check there occasionally

Slagathor,

Not really. The only time I ever go to reddit is if I want info about a really niche subject and the post is usually several years old anyway.

Occasionally, after seeing something in the news regarding Reddit, I will use libreddit.kavin.rocks to see if that news, or any other negative press is anywhere on r/all.

Most recently was about them removing rewards and coins, and prior to that was code in the app that appears to allude to a cash for karma reward system.

yumcake,

Yes, just a lot less because theres no app for it, so I only check it from a desktop PC instead of constantly the way I have in the past.

Maybe it’s just me but the volume of interesting posts has fallen off a cliff after July 1st. The front page has much less activity and noticably more of it is reposts (which were there before, just a much higher ratio now).

The niche subreddits were always the key draw though, those still only exist on Reddit and nowhere else on the internet.

Nope, I actually deleted my Reddit account. I already had low support for Reddit because of the response they gave after the last time there was a Reddit blackout. I had been using Lemmy on and off on my old account on the main instance, so when the recent blackout happened, I gave Reddit one last chance but the way they handled the situation was the last straw for me. I came back to my account on Lemmy and used it until the main Lemmy instance started having server problems due to the influx of users.

fing3r,

Not since the blackout, no.

pigup,

Nope they got porn here now
