cheese_greater, (edited )

Strawberry or gtfo aha. You ever try freezing first, glass of milk to dip optional but recommended

Edit: + break them in half vertically to optimize dipping

Rocky60,

My stepson does that

cheese_greater,

He’s right ;) Its funny cuz i know its all fake but strawberry is best flavor, in real life prefer others but they got it right here

Rocky60,

I gotta go blueberry. I’ve never been a big strawberry fan

cheese_greater,

Try yoir stepson’s trick tho, best is with homogenized milk or the highest fat you can stomach

Golfnbrew,

This… Toasted and slathered in butter

homesweethomeMrL,

You know, it’s people like you who are destroying the bounds of civilized snack food culture. And i wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

TheGiantKorean, in How would you explain Lemmy/Kbin to a Reddit person or to a social media person?
@TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world avatar

In layman’s terms, comparing it to email seems the easiest way to explain.

“It’s like a distributed Reddit with a bunch of instances that are run by different people, and they all talk to one another. Some people have an email address with gmail.com, some have yahoo.com, some have protonmail.com, etc, but they can all email one another. Lemmy instances share each others’ posts in a similar way.”

Prok,
@Prok@lemmy.world avatar

This is also how I explain it… It’s crazy how all these centralized services have made something as old and simple as email seem foreign to people. I’ll explain it this way, and still get something like, “but this is a website”. To which I say “so is gmail.com”

Waker, in What's a food you forget you like? Then you eat it, and wonder why you don't buy it more often?

Fruits. I don’t have the habit of eating any fruit. It’s super unhealthy and when I do remember to buy fruit when grocery shopping, I am always surprised how good it tastes, only to forget about it for a couple more months…

Geek_King,

You and me both! Or I get into a fruit kick, then slow down after a bit, and what I have starts to go bad so I stop buying them all together.

JetpackJackson,

Are you me

Geek_King,

No, we are legion. I’m sure oodles of people fall into this fruit trap.

JetpackJackson,

Yeah I guess that makes sense. I wonder what would be a way to fix it

thesaddreamer,

Frozen fruits? They don’t taste as good but you can still throw them in your smoothies and then safely forget about the rest for 2 months

JetpackJackson,

I suppose I could try that, if the store has any

whereBeWaldo,

Especially oranges for me, every time I’m like " damn I should buy this mf more often"

dmention7,

I’m basically a toddler when it comes to fruit. It can sit around on the counter looking all pretty for days and I won’t touch it. But the moment my wife cuts some up, I’ll devour it.

Maybe you just need a wife who likes to chop things 🤔

Damaskox, in What are some green flags in a partner in your opinion?
@Damaskox@kbin.social avatar

That comes to mind now:

  • Tries not to argue and start fights but rather tries to understand and cooperate with constructive criticism
  • Speaks up her mind if something is on the matter that has anything to do with me
  • Loves cuddling and sex
  • Enjoys at least some of the things I do and joins in
  • Shares at least some of the things she does
  • Offers support when wished for/needed

The same things I either do already or try to do.

Javi_in_4k,

This is a good list. And a lot more meaningful and effective than “likes the same things I like”

Chakravanti, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

No.

Alexstarfire, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

No watch

TheGreenGolem,

Me too. I just hate everything that should be on my wrist or neck. They are just really not comfortable for me.

Digestive_Biscuit,
@Digestive_Biscuit@feddit.uk avatar

I’m the same. I even stopped wearing my wedding ring not long after getting married.

Sanyanov, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

Smartwatch, but without native software.

I do appreciate the extra functionality compared to regular, and the price is lower, so win-win.

I am, however, privacy-conscious and do not allow the watch manufacturer to get any of the data from the watch.

Patches, (edited )

What does that even mean?

You can’t even get the manufacturer to get updates past 6 months of being released.

Are people out there really writing their own firmware for smart watches?

Sanyanov,

Not firmware, but apps to which the watches connect.

I’m talking watches with Bluetooth-only connectivity, like Mi Band, not full-fledged machines like Apple Watch.

But yes, there is also open-source firmware for high-tech smart watches, too

davemeech, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

I hummed hawed on this over the past few years to finally end up in the pixel watch 2, being sold on getting workout, sleep and general heartrate metrics.

nossaquesapao, in Do you prefer to wear a smartwatch or a regular watch?

Smartwatches look like something so consumerist to me, like a desperate move from companies who are having diminishing smartphone sales, but need a constant growth to not face a crisis.

Seriously, with very few exceptions, like people who need to track health issues, I don’t see why someone would need it.

Zeoic,

They are really nice for keeping on top of notifications, but as a person who can’t stand wearing a watch but also likes to deal with notifications immediately, I am torn lol

A fitbit inspire is pretty good for that, but it’s only slightly more bearable than a full watch for me

Soup broth.

aaaa, (edited ) in How would you explain Lemmy/Kbin to a Reddit person or to a social media person?

Consider your specific audience you are reaching out to.

Honestly the biggest barrier for entry into the Lemmy content isn’t choosing an instance. You can easily tell someone to sign up for Lemmy.world or kbin.social without going into detail about what that means.

The issue is that most social media users don’t want to spend an hour or two searching for communities and blocking bots. They want a feed that is appealing at first, that they can tweak incrementally as they get more familiar with the service and its content.

With that in mind, what people want is to know what makes the experience helpful to them right now. I think that boils down to two primary concepts: Draw people in to specific communities that are more accessible than their Reddit counterparts, or convince them why Reddit is not a good experience for them

The latter is a tough sell to someone who already is happy with the Reddit experience. And the trouble with the former is there’s currently not a great deal of communities that are clearly better than on Reddit. The few that I would say count are fairly niche interests.

I think the Lemmy and kbin software needs a set of default subscriptions for guests and new users. Something curated by instance admins to provide the best new user experience, while still allowing them to customize it from there.

For what it’s worth, I would expect most social media users not to care about any of the decentralization aspects. Putting too much focus on the “it’s like email” thing is likely to fall on deaf ears at first.

Used to have an Apple Watch Ultra. Used to because it’s been somewhere in my house for months and I can’t find it and even when I knew where it was I barely wore it. I have a phone, i don’t need further notifications. I wear regular old school watches and love those (I think it comes with the Swiss nationality at this point, our insane love for well crafted watches is in our blood). As a woman who loves watches and has way too many, I also enjoy that mid range and luxury brands are starting to get more exciting models for us. I don’t care about diamonds. But automatic models and such were almost non existant for us a decade ago.

Tangent5280,

Arent most mechanisms gender neutral?

V0uges,
@V0uges@jlai.lu avatar

Even the gender neutral models are usually designed to rather fit a man and are oversized for a woman’s wrist.

Death_Equity,

Women with large watches are an underappreciated aesthetic.

V0uges,
@V0uges@jlai.lu avatar

I definitely fancy a nice boyfriend style watch. Got the pink Swatch x Omega one last spring and once you swap the band for a way less tacky plain white leather, it’s pretty solid for casual days looks at the office.

Sterile_Technique, in How would you explain Lemmy/Kbin to a Reddit person or to a social media person?

“it’s like 50 intertwined tiny reddits from before reddit enshitified”

joyjoy,

And unlike previous attempts at Reddit clones, it’s not entirely made of far right extremists. It’s full of far left extremists.
