I think that was before this John Oliver thing. Since the subreddit rule also says no screenshots, but the post even says screenshots of him are fine. So we'll see ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I am now desperately sad that the Writer's Guild strike is still on, because I'd love to see John Oliver's response to this. Particularly the bit where they added in something like, "This means that almost every image of John Oliver is permitted, because John Oliver is always sexy".
Wheatley wanted everyone to know that he had this doctorate, as evidenced by his insistence in correcting any employee who did not address him as “Dr. Wheatley”. He will be henceforth referred to in this post as Mr. Wheatley.
I thought the HR director was being especially ridiculous, because I wasn't paid by the hour. Also I had to rush to complete stuff after the meeting anyway, so there was zero chance I could have slacked off in those two days.
Ideally there would have been a way to merge threads and preserve the comments from both. Too late now I guess, but something to keep in mind next time something like this happens I suppose..
I would presume the instance is important here? I usually browse just the local communities(? or sublemmies). I still like to explore Lemmy but get too much uninteresting stuff if I browse the whole federation. Guess some others think the same way.
I probably would have never read this story if it only existed on kbin (and Reddit, but I almost haven’t touched Reddit since end of June, only one to read the message that the coins are discontinued)
Ditto, except it's kbin.social in my case rather than lemmy.world

That can be the case, sometimes issues with federation can cause threads to get lost across instances, and a new instance may not get all the existing threads on a pre-existing magazine.
However, it looks like both your account and this magazine are hosted on lemmy.world - since you're both on the same instance, you should have been able to see the older posts on this magazine. (Note: magazine is the kbin term for lemmy communities - i prefer it as the term community can be ambiguous). I've never used lemmy proper so am not sure how that works, but on kbin you can view the older threads on a magazine quite easily.
Probably. But if they don't get it here, they'll find it elsewhere. We shouldn't change things to mollycoddle people who are constantly seeking a reason to be offended.
They'd lose their little minds at the countless species that shift gender when necessitated by circumstance, not to mention the ones that generally propagate their line by mating with themselves. Don't even get me started about the evolutionary origins of "labyrinthine vaginas" or the necro proclivities of sea otters. 🤦🏼♂️
Simply put: a healthy reading habit is a great inoculation against idiocy. Critical thinking is invaluable.
edit: I'm not drawing a line between any of that, except to point out that a lack of knowledge is no foundation for loud opinions.
For real, though. I hope I'm alive to see the archaeological science tech improve to the point we can finally uncover the story about that mystery baby-daddy: was he a local, and that's why they left town? Maybe he was a traveling sandal salesman (there's a lot of foot washing in that book, just sayin'), and Joseph got wind he was spotted in Bethlehem? Somebody's got that ancient tea, and I wanna sip!
