There is no finite life span on any connector.

You obviously haven’t used a Cannon or a Neutrik made XLR connector. I have one from the 1970s, it still works like a chram.

Also, take a look at some of the Type F power plugs. If that’s not robust, IDK what is.

Exactly.

I settled the problem the old fashioned way, the didn’t bother me any more once I put up a fight.

I don’t do either, but I still need Windows. Some software just needs native communication with hardware devices and wine is still not there yet.

launchpad.net/grub-customizer/

I think that GH repo is just for reference… or maybe they (whoever made it) stopped syncing it to the main repo, IDK. 5.2.4 is the latest version and it’s released late 2023, so yeah, it’s still under active development.

✌️… not proud of it though… and it was heroin, not crack.

I do, but I sometimes need Windows and I get confused when rebooting “was I supposed to use Windows or Linux now 🤔”.

Everything just boils down that Windows was pre installed on such a huge amount of machines that “you have to be tech savvy” or whatever to use Linux.

Yes, I would agree that having Windows preinstalled on almost every brand name PC/laptop there is out there is the main reason why things are what they are.

But, I’d also argue that, from your everyday user’s stand point, Windows is a lot easier to get office work done. Everything is pretty much GUI based, there is no terminal in Windows (cmd and PowerShell are not the terminal, you can’t do everything you can in a GUI in the cmd or in PowerShell, and vice versa, so it’s not the same), so from a regular user’s perspective, things are simpler.

And the fact that no one wants to install anything that wasn’t installed the first time, makes it that much harder to switch to Linux.

Why bother changing something that works and gets the job done 🤷… plus, they gotta learn new things if they did that, why make their lives harder.

Not everyone cares about libre software… or even know it exists.

But I believe that we all are slowly spreading the word of Linux more and more with each year. We definitely will have a year of Linux for sure (eventually).

If this does happen, this won’t be within a year, it will be within several years (or a decade).

But, I do agree that there are changes in a positive direction. Most software products (slosed source ones) now have at least a Debian/Ubuntu .deb package (which wasn’t the case 10 years ago, which wasn’t that long ago) and even do customer support for Linux (but only limited to that particular flavor of Linux which they provide the packages for… not an ideal scenario, but it’s not bad either).

So, yeah, I’m optimistic, but not too much. It might eventually happen, but not in the near future IMO.

Grub Customizer. Just don’t change it too much (names of menu entries for example) cuz most package managers won’t recognize that that menu entry is actually a menu entry for it’s own install and won’t replace it with a new one when doing a kernel update. So, basically, one of two things will happen. You will either be left with 2 menu entries (one for the new kernel and one for the old one, with the old one being the default) or two, you’ll still be booting the old kernel, even though you have the new one installed (no changes to grub whatsoever). Just rearanging the menu entries is fine though, most package managers won’t mangle that and will recognize the menu entry as part of the OS they’re updating and replace that one with a new one.

Use Windows Update Blocker to block them.

Yep, happens every time… I freaking hate the 24 pin Molex connector.

I actually like it to be honest, at least I don’t have to hear her snorring.

ufw ring a bell 😒… yeah, being uncomplicated doesn’t mean it’s not working.

Like… why would it be 🤨… that’s insane, how dare you ask a printer to print!

The author uses ffmpeg as it’s encoding library. Ffmpeg doesn’t implement all x265 features. Have no idea about AV1, but it’s generally not advisable to use ffmpeg as an x265 encoder.

Meeh, doesn’t really matter IMO, they get peeled anyway. Not one of those “oh, I’m not touching that” kind of people. They’re gonna get peeled, you’re not gonna use them as sex toys… or are you 🤔.

Yep, works like a charm 👍. Not really hygenic, especially of you’re doing the shopping right after work, but hey, if it works, I’ll take it 🤷.

Well, paganism should be a more acceptable name for it, just to distinguish between the two.

I completely agree with the first part though, nothing wrong with that. In fact, we should all be leaning towards that if we wanna survive.

It needs work, but it’s a lot better than what Windows has to offer regarding legacy games.

Footing 🤔? I’ve seen that, but, come on, that’s just… not right IMO… it’s at that point I’m like “OK, enough pr0n for today” 😂.
