There are other issues with Discord relating to privacy, which would even with a libre client (I think there is one? Bettercord or fosscord or something?) be a good reason to avoid it.

I don’t think that’s the correct path. There is a scanner already, called ClamAV, which works well enough.
Virus scanners don’t fix the problem though. Android does it better: security by isolation and verification of system components.

Either KDE Plasma (dolphin) or GNOME (nautilus) uses the extension iirc. Maybe that changed though.
I disagree. Sway is extremely high quality software. Nvidia is a known terrible player with FLOSS software. I hope they will continue their path of recent improvements.
X’ architecture is insecure. There’s no isolation between windows, and each process can spy on your input. That’s just one example.
Wayland is necessary.
