Blackmist,

It’s not really the ads on Google Search itself that break it.

It’s that almost every result is some automatically generated spam created entirely in response to Google’s algorithms. And it’s those pages that are covered in ads. Google broke the internet.

You can still get what you’re looking for, but I home in on results that look like forums or other actual user generated content. Didn’t even realise I was doing it tbh. I just mentally filter out most of the shit.

Blackmist,

Even the Microsoft pages are terrible.

Everything is a bot that gives you four paragraphs of text about how they’re a certified Microsoft Windows professional technician, but all they ever do is tell you to run sfc /scannow.

Blackmist,

And if they were found to be sending it all the time, holy fuck the fines would end the company.

Blackmist,

He lives in the cloud?

No wonder he always seems to need money. His AWS bills must be enormous.

Blackmist,

Would that show up in browser stats though?

Steam Deck is neat and all but I’ve never thought of it as anybody’s main browsing device.

Blackmist,

That’s DeWALT now. All rolled up into the Black and Decker-verse.

Blackmist,

I could have been a member of house Makita, but house DeWalt was slightly closer and it was raining on the day I needed a drill.

Blackmist,

You have to remember that the underlying principle of JavaScript seemed to be “never throw an error”, even if what it’s being told to do is weapons grade bollocks.

Blackmist,

I had to put mine in a case. Any use without is just “oh, was that a gesture”.

No motherfucker, I’m just trying not to drop £500 of glass-coated electronics that I rely on for fucking everything.

Blackmist,

I sometimes think that mine is working alright, and then I try and use it in the dark and it fails 3 times in a row because it turns out it usually gives up and uses face recognition.

And this is a proper Google phone. What must the shit brands be like?

And the only advantage is that you have more screen space which is now covered with indicators for back, home, etc, because you can fuck off if you think I’m using gestures for that shit.

Blackmist,

It could have worked because people who need the /s are the same people driving an SUV like that anyway.

Blackmist,

Two days in and Japan already had an earthquake and a place crash.

2019 might just have been a trailer for 2024…

Blackmist,

They already fucked up music earlier in the year, so I’m now fully out.

Blackmist,

It cost £200 million (£327m at current prices) just for 14km of tram lanes in my local city.

It could buy a decent amount of buses (~£200k each, more for green options), but without infrastructure changes and bus lanes, have fun watching them sit in traffic while everyone refuses to use them.

Shit’s expensive yo.

Blackmist,

Sounds like the boring voiced aliens from Mass Effect.

Blackmist,

Component, composite, s-video and stereo sound in one cable. Although it did mean that you’d have to be careful because a cable to something like a PS2 might only implement the lowest quality of them.

Blackmist,

I love how people think that benefits are now called UBI.

I guess the billionaires successfully stamped that idea out.

Blackmist,

The idea is that the average person earning will pay the UBI amount back in tax. The taxation systems will all have to be adjusted. It’s not free money on top of what we have now.

Most people will not be significantly better off under UBI, just a base level that we can’t go below, that will be there for any reason from “can no longer work” to just “want a break from it all”.

Blackmist,

The Three Musketeers is basically unwatchable without Tim Curry hamming it up in a cape.

The lead actors are all terrible.

Blackmist,

The opening of the first one is actually really good. Just a shame about what came after.

Wasn’t 2 completely fucked by the writers strike?

Blackmist,

Ours was The Ugly Dachshund.

Even though it was from 1966, I think the youngest person in it was Mako.

I couldn’t find a single person from it who is still alive.

It’s on Disney+. It’s not great, but it was on a tape my parents used to put on for me so they could be undisturbed for an hour. I didn’t even like the film that much, but there were two Chip and Dale cartoons at the end, so I watched it to get to them.

Blackmist,

> Realise you still owe the credit card debt.

Blackmist,

Now imaging crawling into a cave, and being blocked by somebody else’s shoes.

Blackmist,

Unironically so.

Logistics has always been the US military’s best weapon.

Blackmist,

Who doesn’t love a good old “stock market correction”, where rich people lose money that never existed, and claw back real money from the poor.
