Blackmist,

You can use the same trick in job applications.

If they didn’t check themselves, they didn’t really care in the first place.

Blackmist,

The main issue in the push for electric cars, is that we’re pretending that we can fix things with no lifestyle changes.

And for the richer people, that’s probably true. But there’s a big chunk of people for whom the electric car revolution means no more personal transport.

I accept that, but we need to invest in public transport exponentially more than we are doing. It needs subsidising up the wazoo so people outside the inner-city bubble can still get around. By just pretending that electric cars will reach affordable levels for the poorest, we’re inviting trouble further down the line when they can’t use their petrol cars any more.

Blackmist,
  • 100 companies providing fossil fuels to 99% of the human race.
Blackmist,

They all seem obsessed with plastic grass now which is even worse.

My garden is mostly weeds. Haven’t cut it in 15 years. I pretend to be a trendsetting wild gardener, but really I’m just a lazy bastard.

Blackmist,

Plus vegans will pay anything in order to imagine themselves as being better than meat eaters.

Blackmist,

That leaves 4000 dollars for rent

I think you can work out the next flaw in the plan for yourself.

Blackmist,

With no other income at all?

The point of UBI is that you could just live off that if you were frugal.

Everybody gets it of course, but you’d lose 10% of your current wages too. Everyone under $80k would be better off, everyone over that would be worse off.

The thing with UBI is that you’d lose all other state benefits too. Pretty much anything means tested would go and be replaced with one payment that everyone gets.

Blackmist,

OK, total personal income for the US is 21 trillion so you’ve raised $2.1t. 260 million adults. That’s about $8000 each. Can you live off that? I’m not sure I could and I own my home outright.

If it’s not enough to live off, it’s not UBI.

Blackmist,

Yeah, when they say that they mean white kids.

They don’t want blacks anywhere near their neighbourhood.

Blackmist,

Now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.

The guy who invented it sounds like a certified nutcase.

In 2016, Pulitzer appeared as a treasure hunter on The Curse of Oak Island on the History Channel. He searched for the Ark of the Covenant and working with amateur historians from the Ancient Artifact Preservation Society he claimed that a sword found in the waters off Oak Island in Nova Scotia had “magical magnetic properties” and was evidence of Roman presence in North America and contact with the Miꞌkmaq, which a historian of that people dismissed. An archaeologist and a science writer criticized Pulitzer’s claim, suggested the sword was a replica said that Pulitzer threatened to sue them.

Certainly sounds like the same guy.

CHROME (google) is planing to implement DRM (kinda) into their browser (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

looks like rendering adblockers extensions obsolete with manifest-v3 was not enough so now they try to implement DRM into the browser giving the ability to any website to refuse traffic to you if you don’t run a complaint browser ( cough…firefox )...

Blackmist,

Half the internet now seems to be bots creating content purely for the enjoyment of other bots. Typing any kind of difficult question into a search engine will now have you dodging a minefield of AI generated articles, none of which contain any useful information other than what they’ve scraped from other AI generated pages.

Blackmist,

That’s OK. We’re only interested in white history.

Greeks, Romans, Vikings, tell me more.

Aboriginals and Aztecs? They’re just some guys squatting on that land we found.

Blackmist,

If popularity was all that mattered, McDonalds would have Michelin stars.

Blackmist,

Mine is digital. Just set to desired temp and power and away you go.

Blackmist,

No, it’s got a mixer box (for want of a better word) in the attic that’s plugged into the mains.

There’s a wireless dial that talks to that, and the water itself comes from the gas combi boiler, rather than electrically heated.

I think it was this one.

mirashowers.co.uk/…/mira-mode-dual-shower-ceiling…

Quite a bit more expensive than a regular thermostatic mixer shower, but since I was having the whole bathroom done I figured why not spend a bit extra on some nicer stuff. The labour is still the most expensive part by far.

Blackmist,

I think the main money maker isn’t rent. It’s owning (or at least having a mortgage on) property that doubles in value every ten years.

The rent often just pays for the mortgage and upkeep. The main payday comes when they sell it all off to the next parasite.

Blackmist,

It would be a dangerous game if the politicians and their donors weren’t also playing it and rigging it in their favour.

Blackmist,

Probably why I’ve never seen it. I live ad free as much as possible.

Blackmist,

Weird isn’t it? I don’t recognise either of them, I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen that one, everyone appears clothed, yet it just has porn vibes.

Blackmist,

Poor motorists having only like 99% of infrastructure reserved for them.

So victimised right now.

Let’s take away railway sleepers so they can drive on the tracks.

Blackmist,

You guys are getting to see your doctors?

Blackmist,

Imagine the size of their fucking flag.
