Blackmist,

Probably just an extra six minutes of Seth Rogan’s annoying laugh.

Blackmist,

The password one is also when they’re on the wrong site and now they’ve just typed all their passwords and account names into microsoftoffice365.scammer.ru

Blackmist,

Component, composite, s-video and stereo sound in one cable. Although it did mean that you’d have to be careful because a cable to something like a PS2 might only implement the lowest quality of them.

Blackmist,

The opening of the first one is actually really good. Just a shame about what came after.

Wasn’t 2 completely fucked by the writers strike?

Blackmist,

Yeah, trackers are what we had on the Amiga, and it was mostly just sound samples played at varying pitches. It’s definitely got an old school sound to it, but it’s only a low track limit that makes it different to what we have now.

Real chip tunes are where you torture an AY-3-8912 chip until it sings for its master.

Blackmist,

I do.

I still have subs on.

Blackmist,

I genuinely think he’s suffered hearing damage at some point during The Dark Knight Rises, and can no longer tell.

Blackmist,

Billl Cosby won a kids choice award

What else could be there? An R Kelly CD?

Blackmist,

I’ll take it just to watch them fight.

What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

Blackmist,

It still looks better than The Hobbit though.

The CGI is still a bit dated (although somehow The Flash topped that), but there’s far less compositing of solo actors in green rooms, due to forced perspective.

Blackmist,

Which is why my toaster is now under a cupboard, making an entirely new fire hazard.

Blackmist,

But government likes to starve the stuff they run to make it look bad so they can carve it up and sell it to their mates. See literally anything Britain privatised.

Anything with no competition trends towards being shit over time.

Blackmist,

Only if she got married at 2 years of age.

She’ll be about 90 assuming the headline isn’t bullshit, or wasn’t written 30 years ago.

Doesn’t look 90 to me.

I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....

Blackmist,

Yes, physical sales are miles better than digital. Even better if you shop used.

If you think Steam sales are still great, then you’re either young or have a crap memory. Used to be the case that 6-12 month old games went for 75% off and often more. The flash sales died and so did the bargains.

Now Steam is just ancient games at full price until the next sale so they can claim “60% off” again so it matches the price of a PS5 disc on Amazon or wherever.

  • Blackmist,

You mean you’re not using Mailarr to download your own stamps?

Louis Rossman/FUTO's YouTube app, GrayJay, now supports Sponsorblock... and shames you if you use it

Seriously this was very surprising. I’ve been experimenting with GrayJay since it was announced and I largely think it’s a pretty sweet app. I know there are concerns over how it isn’t “true open source” but it’s a hell of a lot more open than ReVanced. Plus, I like the general design and philosophy of the app....

    Blackmist,

The Wadsworth Constant was a thing even from the earliest days of Youtube.

    Blackmist,

In fairness we’ve been around a lot longer, but it is impressive how one little island nation has managed to fuck so much shit up from afar.

    Blackmist,

I think that’s just doing the Justwatch style thing. It’s a start, but it’s not a true integration.

Sad thing is, I’m pretty sure Netflix used to encourage you to make your own UI for it. Then they blocked it all.

    Blackmist,

Yeah, why is it doing that?

Especially when I’m using the Jellyfin Android TV client. The quality goes from ok to complete shit.

Does it not like mkv files?

I am pouring one out to this little champ. Stripping HDCP and letting me... archive streaming services from 2016-2023 RIP (lemmy.world)

What killed it, well after reviewing some PS4 gameplay I noticed that it was having audio issues, like it would allow some sounds but not all. It was almost as if it was receiving a 5.1 audio output but was missing the centre channel. Even though the PS4 was set to stereo....

    Blackmist,

Especially with music and video. At some point it has to enter your eyes/ears, and even if HDCP wasn’t shit, you could always just record what was on your screen or coming out of your speakers.

    Blackmist,

    They don’t want them either.

All the Arab world may be united in it’s hatred of Israel, but that doesn’t mean they like each other…

    Blackmist,

I don’t think that will fix the performance issues either.

I think I’ll just play the first one or Tropico.

    Blackmist,

I think any popular video platform will do the same shit. It’s just expensive to host on a large scale.

Realistically, we need a good P2P solution for this so everyone “pays” for the videos they watch with a bit of their own outgoing bandwidth.

Having the viewing platform paying the content creators is a bad idea. It’s mostly led to the video equivalent of spam, and looking around YouTube, it doesn’t stop them filling their own videos with ads for godawful exploitative mobile games anyway.

You could even have a Tubarr torrent thing that automatically downloads stuff to your Jellyfin server from your subscribed content creators.
