Blackmist,

So they can make your phone go bingedybeep and show you more adverts, while slurping up any data the browser doesn’t usually let them access.

Blackmist,

Really milking that fad before they inevitably push anything useful behind a monthly paywall.

Blackmist,

1st Jan? Smells like an expired certificate somewhere in whatever chain of DRM bullshit they use.

Blackmist,

It’s not really the ads on Google Search itself that break it.

It’s that almost every result is some automatically generated spam created entirely in response to Google’s algorithms. And it’s those pages that are covered in ads. Google broke the internet.

You can still get what you’re looking for, but I home in on results that look like forums or other actual user generated content. Didn’t even realise I was doing it tbh. I just mentally filter out most of the shit.

Blackmist,

Bumblebee is the only good Transformers movie.

You can ignore all the others, but this one is worth it.

Blackmist,

Sound’s like it’s just not sending the data back to Daddy Google. The OK Google/Alexa bit is done on a custom chip on the device. Clearly that bit isn’t being turned off, but anything after that isn’t being sent anywhere.

Probably just saves support calls this way from idiots who turn it off and forget.

Blackmist,

It’s annoying that you can either choose between having a weedy shit burger that’s mostly lettuce and has to be held together with a stick, or eating a really expensive one and have to look at a load of wanker tat on the walls.

Also, you can stick your brioche buns up your arse. A brioche bun is not a load bearing bun. It dissolves in contact with moisture.

Blackmist,

Or just sites that don’t need a consent popup because they don’t sell your shit.

Blackmist,

> Realise you still owe the credit card debt.

Blackmist,

But only one can crush a toddler without you even feeling it.

Buy the new Ford Infanticide 5000. You’re American. You deserve it.

Blackmist,

Who doesn’t love a good old “stock market correction”, where rich people lose money that never existed, and claw back real money from the poor.

Blackmist,

“I’ve never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure.”

Blackmist,

They look a lot like the identikit romance books my mum would read. Even she didn’t know which one’s she’d read before. Be like three quarters of the way in and then go “oh, I’ve read this”.

Pretty sure ChatGPT could create those things by now, such is the limitless array of imagination on offer within.

Blackmist,

One of the bosses at my work has a massive Fall Guy truck, and often has huge items delivered to work, just so he has an excuse to use it.

“You won’t get that in the back of a Fiesta”

That’s right dickhead, because we’d have the items delivered to our homes.

Blackmist,

I think the mangled English there is suggesting that some people don’t care enough, and other people have enough money (to buy Windows).

Not that it matters because who the fuck pays for Windows anyway? OEMs do, but not normal people. Everything since like Windows 7 has been a free upgrade, and normies get a new PC more often than that so get a copy with it.

Blackmist,

Always jarring when you open a folder dialog, and an unresizeable chunk of Windows 3.1 suddenly appears.

I know it’s still in the ODBC settings, probably other places too.

Blackmist,

The intent is to provide workers with a sense of pride and accomplishment for paying different bills.

As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the Open Beta and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we’re looking at average per-worker dollar earn rates on a daily basis, and we’ll be making constant adjustments to ensure that workers have challenges that are compelling, rewarding, and of course attainable via hard work.

We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Lemmy, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.

Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and update everyone as soon and as often as we can.

Blackmist,

I’m heading back to it.

The streaming was sort of OK, and now it’s wank. Spread across dozens of services, that don’t have enough content to justify their existence. No UI linking them all together means you have no idea if something is available or not without checking justwatch.com

If music was like this, I’d pirate that too.

Blackmist,

That’s because we told them that there would be jobs on the other side of that debt.

Just lie your way in. Worry about how to do the job later.

My PC is hacked

I just received a call from an indian microsoft technician. He informed me that my PC is sending a ton of error messages to microsoft. Most likely it has been hacked, and he would help me by remoting in and fixing the problem for me. I just wonder… Is it my PopOs or my Manjaro PC that sends all this info to microsoft?

Blackmist,

I once played along just to waste their time. Got to the point where I had to go to a site and get my IP address.

I told him it was 127.0.0.1, and he just said “I think you be messing with me now sir” and hung up. :D

Blackmist,

Yeah, but how many brown children can it kill?

Blackmist,

Likes like Hello World is ready to ship.

Blackmist,

Is your house surrounded on all sides by corn?

Does Napoleon Dynamite seem like a documentary about your town?

Then you live in the Midwest.

Blackmist,

The secret ingredient is running the fuck away before either of them notice.

Blackmist,

They all seem obsessed with plastic grass now which is even worse.

My garden is mostly weeds. Haven’t cut it in 15 years. I pretend to be a trendsetting wild gardener, but really I’m just a lazy bastard.
