Blackmist,

Would that show up in browser stats though?

Steam Deck is neat and all but I’ve never thought of it as anybody’s main browsing device.

Blackmist,

Sounds like the boring voiced aliens from Mass Effect.

Blackmist,

Component, composite, s-video and stereo sound in one cable. Although it did mean that you’d have to be careful because a cable to something like a PS2 might only implement the lowest quality of them.

Blackmist,

You have to remember that the underlying principle of JavaScript seemed to be “never throw an error”, even if what it’s being told to do is weapons grade bollocks.

Blackmist,

He gave grants around the world. The library in my small UK town was funded by him nearly a hundred years ago.

Blackmist,

We didn’t just steal artifacts. We stole whole countries. At one point the empire covered a quarter of the planet. And it wasn’t that long ago either.

The artifacts were just the souvenirs.

Blackmist,

Top one looks like it’s from a Turkish barbers, but they photoshopped a kids face onto it because nobody would believe that Ronaldo had been there.

Blackmist,

When you’ve got nukes, all wars are punching down.

The knowing that even if you fight really well against them, they could just say “fuck it” and flatten you anyway.

Blackmist,

Also, tell the guy that digs the hole how big the coffin is including handles.

Because I went to a funeral last year where it didn’t fit.

I feel like the Steam Deck is the best proof of Gabe Newell's quote that "piracy is a service issue."

They could have easily crammed the Steam Deck full of stuff to make it hard to use for piracy - locking down everything, making it usable only to play games you legitimately own, force you to go through who knows what hoops in order to play games on it. That’s what Nintendo or Apple or most other companies do....

Blackmist,

Yes, physical sales are miles better than digital. Even better if you shop used.

If you think Steam sales are still great, then you’re either young or have a crap memory. Used to be the case that 6-12 month old games went for 75% off and often more. The flash sales died and so did the bargains.

Now Steam is just ancient games at full price until the next sale so they can claim “60% off” again so it matches the price of a PS5 disc on Amazon or wherever.

Blackmist,

Bloody gays, causing the rent to go up! 😠

Blackmist,

I recommend Humanity as a modern strange take on it.

store.steampowered.com/app/1581480/Humanity/

(Is available on PS+ Extra as well)

Also reminded me of Timekeepers, which is another old Amiga game which I suspect nobody here will remember.

Blackmist,

I’m still on 4.1

Any major features since then, or mostly bloat?

Blackmist,

Gained a puffer jacket to disguise the noodly arms.

But lost socks meaning less winter survival. Might be balanced out by beards to hide wobbly chins.

Blackmist,

How quickly we forget Laserdisc and Video CDs.

Oh and UMD, but I don’t think “I want to watch a movie in poor quality on a tiny screen on a device that’ll probably run out of battery before the movie finishes” was a market anybody was really interested in.

Blackmist,

If you hum The Final Countdown while it’s loading, it’ll let you play original Vice City instead!

Louis Rossman/FUTO's YouTube app, GrayJay, now supports Sponsorblock... and shames you if you use it

Seriously this was very surprising. I’ve been experimenting with GrayJay since it was announced and I largely think it’s a pretty sweet app. I know there are concerns over how it isn’t “true open source” but it’s a hell of a lot more open than ReVanced. Plus, I like the general design and philosophy of the app....

Blackmist,

I can only assume they’re some sort of front for a cartel because I’ve never met anyone that actually plays it.

Blackmist,

Good luck with that. All browsing on iOS is Safari, so likely all the FF extensions would need to be remade from scratch.

Blackmist,

Moved to Firefox a while ago, specifically because of Manifest V3.

The only issue I’ve found so far is that you can’t log in to PSN on it. Just locks the browser completely and you need to kill it in task manager. Apparently it’s to do with password saving.

Blackmist,

The series would have been fine had they not been needed to understanding what is happening in the movies.

Cue me wondering where I’d missed that Elizabeth Olsen is a villain again in Dr Strange 2.

I can deal with watching a movie every few months on the off chance that some of them are entertaining popcorn guff, but I’m not sitting through endless shows where you see 10 hours of characters you don’t care about and their extended families you also won’t care about.

Blackmist,

I think phishing is by far the most common way to get passwords.

I saw a guy at work fall victim to one. Looks like it’s from some customer he knows, links to document on Office365 or similar, enter username and password and swearing because it’s “lost them”.

I went, “What URL is that?”

He looked at his screen for a second. “Fuck.”

“How many passwords have you given it?”

“My work ones and my bank ones.”

“Better change those then, hadn’t you?”

Blackmist,

Apparently he wasn’t actually drunk during those out-takes.

He’d been filming something else the day before, it overran and they filmed until almost dawn. So he had some sleeping pills so he’d be refreshed before filming the adverts.

Unfortunately, and probably not unrelated to the sheer size of the man, they kicked in just as he was scheduled to start filming.

So that’s what you see. A man fucked up on barbiturates.

Blackmist,

I tried to avoid Amazon for a product the other week, by buying direct from the person who was selling through Amazon.

They had their own store.

The prices were 50% more than they were charging on Amazon.

Blackmist,

There does seem to be a high proportion of city dwellers wondering why somebody who lives four miles from the nearest shop that sells something more substantial than Budweiser and crisps would need a car…
