You all remember just a few weeks ago when Sony ripped away a bunch of movies and TV shows people “owned”? This ad is on Amazon. You can’t “own” it on Prime. You can just access it until they lose the license. How can they get away with lying like this?
This though. People love to harp about the good ole days but leave out that the good ole days were good cause only cishet white men could participate in the economy
(US Here) Even my more progressive friends won’t go downtown because every business doesn’t have free dedicated parking. Street parking is free for the first hour and when I still drove I had lunch with no problems that way 1000 times, but nope unless where they’re going has it’s own dedicated parking lot, they aren’t going.
It wouldn’t, unfortunately. My city got Amtrak service back a few years ago, and sooo many people I’ve talked to are like “I’m never taking a train again!” because they caught a delay ONE TIME, even though they don’t bat an eye sitting still daily on the interstate.
Most people have extremely weird ideas of what’s considered piracy and what isn’t. Downloading a video game rom is piracy, but if you pay money to some Chinese retailer for an SD card containing the roms, that’s somehow not piracy. Exploiting the free trial on a streaming site by using prepaid visa cards is somehow not...
I caught a petty larceny charge and couldn’t find work for like 7-8 years (turns out petty larceny is considered “relevant” by basically everyone) after missing a $5 pair of sunglasses at self checkout on a $1-200 purchase, because the LP person lied when the judge said he saw no intent and told him “I watched him remove the tag and that’s intent if I ever saw it.”
Mind you, this is AFTER she provided a picture of the “stolen merchandise” with the tag still attached - Doesn’t matter because LP is considered a “professional witness” so if they say the sky is neon green, legally the sky is neon green. 🙄
Sometimes, Even when drivers leave the road, scooters/bikers/pedestrians somehow get blamed for being too close to a road. It just comes down to what it’s always come down to:
Buy a fucking car or get blamed for everything cause you didn’t buy a car.
Put simply - we have two parties, both are right wing, and while we have an established way for third parties to gain more proper/fair inclusion in the system (like debate participation, ballot access, in some cases funding) anytime a third party comes close to meeting the requirements the 2 parties mutually agree to raise the bar.
“We’re good people, we just vote for politicians openly calling for violence and retribution upon all their political enemies and fellow Americans, and vote to make people different from us illegal, and vote to strip every safety net to pass directly to the 1%, and vote to protect our God given right to clear an elementary school in 20 minutes with an AR, etc etc etc”
I had to drive to and from an appointment twice today (drop off and pick up)(not a school) and I faced like… A dozen moments of aggression from other drivers. From being cut off, to being blocked from merging. Some dangerous, others harmless. Just a dozen pointless but intentionally rude moments. Usually I’m getting tailed...
Not by choice 😂 I’m lucky to be retired early and have a bus system that gets me where I need to go. I’ll get another car when I can but I plan to still bus around for some stuff if I do.
We recently got amtrak back where I live, booked ahead of time (prices increase as the train fills up) I can DC for $30 round trip and nyc for $60 round trip. On my last nyc trip coming back, I was set up in the Cafe car on my laptop and chatting with people - one by one 3 of us busted our respective liquors out offering them around and made a party of it.
We’re in the middle of a new Red Scare, because whenever capitalism starts falling apart at the seams the only option to maintain power by capitalists is to instill fear about anything other than funneling more wealth upward to the 1%
Everybody will run logical circles around everything for days on days to defend their sus bullshit… until you mention socialism then all of a sudden there’s no way anythings ever been maliciously Co opted in the history of ever!
