I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux is in fact KDE/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, KDE plus Linux.

Can I use MS Office natively with that?

Not the full suite, natively. You can install it via PlayonLinux, which works well without fiddling, or you can use Office 365 on the web.

Also, can I use it as a non-techie lay man in a way that is similar to the way most office bottom-feeders use Windows?

Yes.

I know there is Open Office but I am lawyer and the free office alternatives just don’t have the rich formatting options I need to do my job. I have tried and they just won’t do.

Open Office is deprecated. You can use LibreOffice which is free. Or WPS Office or SoftMaker Office, which run on Linux and are 100% compatible with MS Office, but cost money.

Preparing to move from Ubuntu to Fedora

Hi! I’m seeking some advice and sanity check on hopping from Ubuntu to Fedora on my personal PC. I’ve been using Ubuntu LTS for almost two years now, switched from Windows and never looked back. What? Slackware has a menu-driven installer that sets up a usable system out of the box that comes with all the bells and whistles.
Just don’t try to change anything.

Oh, and the bells and whistles are powered by a steam engine, so you better know your way around ancient tech to use them.

I want to study psychology but won't AI make it redundant in a couple of years?

I know it’s not even close there yet. It can tell you to kill yourself or to kill a president. But what about when I finish school in like 7 years? Who would pay for a therapist or a psychologist when you can ask for help a floating head on your computer?...

I’m sure as fuck glad my therapist is a human and not a Chatbot.

Also, psychologists will be needed to design AI interfaces so humans have an easy time using them.
A friend of mine studied psychology and now works for a car company, designing their infotainment system UI so that people can instinctively use it without consulting a manual. Those kinds of jobs will become more, not less in the future.

I’m guessing the “spirit of Ubuntu” means they took Silverblue and preconfigured some stuff.

I have no idea what issues got fixed.

Can flatpaks be installed and accessed from another partition on the same drive?

My laptop seems very finicky with linux and enjoys periodically freezing. Some distributions are more stable than others and I’d like to keep testing other distributions without reinstalling/ downloading/transferring all my apps and steam games constantly....

If your laptop periodically freezes, switching distros won’t fix it.
Identifying the underlying issue (which is most likely a hardware defect) would be a better use of your time.
Your first step would be to try and reproduce the issue. See under what circumstances it happens. See if it happens from a live USB or only from your installed system (If it does, this eliminates the SSD as most probable culprit). Do a RAM test. Then ask for help with further trouble-shooting.
