LiveLM,

Hm, maybe there should be an option to always disable the executable permission when extracting

‘It’s difficult to survive’: China’s LGBTQ+ advocates face jail and forced confession (www.theguardian.com)

In recent years, China’s LGBTQ+ community has been swept up in the Chinese Communist party’s broader crackdown on civil society and freedom of expression. In May 2023, a well known LGBTQ+ advocacy group in Beijing announced it was closing due to “unavoidable” circumstances. Last February, two university students filed a...

LiveLM,

The Naomi situation is ridiculous. Such a nice person with amazing stories to tell and things to do being swept under the rug like it’s nothing

LiveLM,

An article that links to a Tweet that links to a blog post with the actual useful information.
They truly Human Centipede’d this one

Is there a sponsor block situation for Podcasts?

I’m happy to adopt a new podcast app if it has sponsorblock natively or through a plug-in. Otherwise let me know if there’s some other way to make it work. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work as all of the segments tagged for skipping are crowdsourced which would also work for Podcasts.

LiveLM, (edited )

I suppose the solution would be having people tag a soundbite at the beginning and at the end of each ad slot. Then when the app “hears”, the beginning soundbite it can just skip forward until it finds the ending one.

LiveLM,

It wont. It’ll run retail games only.

LiveLM, (edited )

Funny enough this thing will likely be more useful for playing actual backups than piracy.
The telemetry on the Switch is crazy, and since all carts have certificates, Nintendo will know if your game is a pirated copy and they’ll ban your console.
And we know the Switch keeps logs like crazy, so even if you’re offline while using this thing it won’t help… unless you stay permanently offline, but at that point you might as well just mod your Switch anyway.

LiveLM,

Steam Deck. It handles Switch games much better than I expected

Oh that’s nice to hear. I have not been keeping up with Switch emulation at all because my CPU was weak for it. Maybe I should try again and see if it has gotten easier to run.

LiveLM,

Do not play Breath of the Wild via Switch Emulation, play it via Wii U emulation instead with Cemu.
You get the exact same game but Wii U emulation is easier to run, more well developed and has more options for adjusting framerate and graphics.
You can convert your Switch save to work with the Wii U version.

Gentoo goes Binary (packages) (www.gentoo.org)

To speed up working with slow hardware and for overall convenience, we’re now also offering binary packages for download and direct installation! For most architectures, this is limited to the core system and weekly updates - not so for amd64 and arm64 however. There we’ve got a stunning >20 GByte of packages on our mirrors,...

LiveLM,

Hm? Didn’t they already offer binary packages for a while now?

LiveLM,

I’ve just started using SSH inside of Termux, got tired of all the weird pitfalls SSH Clients for Android usually have

LiveLM,

God that is depressing to read, I swear by Simple Gallery and Simple SMS

LiveLM, (edited )

Nope. This will only be fixed when Discord gets their head out of their ass, unlikely to happen soon.

LiveLM,

Probably people trying to mine Crypto on the CI runners again

LiveLM,

Well aren’t you in luck, people are doing exactly that over valetudo.cloud
Not for Roombas but on a couple Xiaomi/Dreame/Roborock models.

LiveLM,

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted, because this is a real practice

LiveLM,

Why adblockers are essential in a nutshell ⤴️

Where to get Minecraft for Arch Linux from?

Arrrr my fellow pirates. Since I’m very unexperienced with the seas I ask for you guys, where can I get Minecraft from for Arch Linux. It’s not because I’m not willing to pay 20€ but because Microsoft is a giant bitch and I’m not willing to put money in their mouth(especially after they changed their privacy policy).

LiveLM,

The fact that Bedrock is not available on MacOS and Linux irks me to no end.

LiveLM,

That’s not a proper Bedrock port however, it’s the Android version with some patches on top. It requires you to own Minecraft on the Play Store in order to use it.

Little Rat - a browser extension for monitoring other extensions

"Little Rat is an open-source extension designed for network traffic monitoring. Easily view, monitor, and block traffic from other Chrome extensions on a per-extension basis."

I use it myself and I think it's a very useful extension for everyone who uses more than just few extensions for different purposes and don't fully trust them that they send no data as the developer promises, this extension can monitor the network and act as a firewall per-extension basis.

Download (Lite Version | Can't monitor requests, only block): https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/little-rat/oiopkpalpilladnibecobcecijffaflf

Source Code and full version (recommended):

(I'm not affliate with the developer in any way and just wanted to share this)
