What is your unpopular flim opinion

I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds

James Cameran’s avatar are good movies, both of them.

Damn, I’ve been playing semi-consistently since 2021 and just cannot bring myself to rank MR above 16 lol

What MR are you?

Here are some of my default choices: Linux Mint, Pop!OS, Nobara, MXLinux (if your PC is kind of a potato).

These distros should work regardless of your configuration with very minimal effort on your side.

You cannot compare NixOS to ubuntu… even for as a new user to more adept user comparison, NixOS is really complicated. I’m not saying it’s bad, just that the documentation on how it works could be better. I’ve tried to use NixOS and nix itself multiple times and they were a nightmare to setup each time, especially NixOS (nix itself isn’t as complicated to me but it has some annoying things with proprietary software and not integrating with desktops at all without using hacky scripts).

NixOS and nix in general is incredibly complicated imo and the documentation is… let’s just say sub par. I’d go with arch unless you really just wanna learn nix.

@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

Sub as in sublemmy… That’s what I call communities here lmao

It’s not really a stereotype, and idm it personally (I do like Linux), it just looks like most posts that aren’t either serious or talking about Linux here just get downvoted to hell

Best place to buy replacement parts for a laptop?

I’ve got a Dell G3 3579 that’s in a dire need of a battery and a bottom panel replacement. I’ve thought of buying them off aliexpress, but I’m a bit skeptical of it… So ig my question is whether it’s OK to buy stuff like replacement laptop batteries off aliexpress....

I’m in Bulgaria and believe me, this was my honest reaction when I found out none of these companies ship here

Presi300,
@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

Thing is… Usually I’m that nerd, and while I don’t mind sharing what county i live in (check my other replies), I was hoping to learn of some international ways to do it that aren’t AliExpress…

I’ve thought of using Amazon, but it’s not really a thing in my country, I don’t even know if they ship here, furthermore I’ve never shopped on Amazon before, so I have no idea how it works…

(I just checked, Amazon does not deliver to my country and Newegg is an American thing afaik)

And even further more, I don’t know which are the “trusted” replacement battery manufacturers

Presi300,
@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

It is not, unfortunately. They just don’t ship to my country

Presi300,
@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

The thing is… the “OEM” Dell replacement batteries have a ridiculous price… they’re like 2 or 3 times more expensive than 3rd party ones for a refurbished one…

Presi300,
@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

I’m willing to pay more for a genuine battery, but not that much more

Presi300,
@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve already checked it out… and they don’t ship to my country

Presi300,

All of my projects… That’s what I tell myself anyways

@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

I didn’t have wifi for the entire month of November and up-to now (I still don’t have home wifi) but my data usage is around 210GB so ig that much

Presi300,
@Presi300@lemmy.world avatar

I turn off my PC every night… As for my home server it used to be at around 30 days before I turned off to upgrade it yesterday
