If Sony taking something away that you paid for isn’t stealing, then neither is taking something that Sony doesn’t lose.

At highway speeds, tailgating 10 ft behind a 53 ft tractor-trailer will net you about a 39% boost in fuel economy. And further your fuel usage will drop by 100% after the trailer flattens your hood from a sudden stop maneuver!

Rentlar,

Every middle-aged German man is named Thomas. No exceptions.

Rentlar,

Samir, you are breaking the car!

Listen to my calls, Samir!

Rentlar,

Yeah that part of the guide is top-tier advice from the FBI and Bundespolizei.

Being in a temperate part of France sounds pretty great, especially if I got a room in Chateau de Láas.

But why do two jobs? Won’t people do a better job concentrating on one thing and getting $2000 for that, instead of gaining experience in two different areas at the same time?

It’s because McDonald’s was trying to make an excuse that paying people US Federal Minimum wage (7.25$/hr since 2009, it’s still that in 2023) is enough to live on, and utterly failed, even while holding both a 40h a week and 30h a week min wage job. I guess they expect fast food employees to use to make their own fast food while they’re there as their food budget.

It was a case in point in 2013, rent and all expenses are way up since then. People aren’t going to make a living or have any savings at all, probably accruing more debt even with 2 jobs and less than the minimum of expenses.

@cyborganism is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported.

E: I’m so unoriginal. Happy holidays everyone.

Rentlar,

Not perfect but Linux is getting there! Certainly much better than before.

Rentlar,

Props to the Lemmy-ui devs for designing a mobile capable site that’s light and works well.

I use Jerboa but I have to switch to browser to view other Lemmy server links but it’s seamless, and better than what I can say for 95% of modern mobile websites.

Rentlar,

Ok, good to know, I figure this instruction set can’t be converted 1 to 1.

Rentlar,

Give OP some slack, they might be making the meme on their phone and posting while at work. Gotta post it before the manager sees them.

Rentlar,

In addition to alternative webUI, on mobile you can use apps to have inline image previews in card view mode.

Personally I don’t like new Reddit/ card view but it’s a matter of taste.

I’ll just tell you about Japan… they will have “outside of business hours” ATM fees just because. Link to website

With the Postal Bank it is possible to carry around your passbook in place of your debit bank card to access your account. Even from an ATM that automatically records transactions in there which is kind of retro yet cool.

Edit: added link

Rentlar,

Everyone who helps foster welcoming and positive vibes on this little corner of the Internet deserves an honorable mention.

Rentlar,

Fuck, I feel this so hard…

“I’m going to get a bunch of chores done so I can try this new game out without guilt of procrastination. Or maybe try out a hobby.”

One set of chores later…

“Yawn. I’m out of energy to start something new.”

What hobbies help you minimize or avoid navigating commercialism?

By commercialism, I’m aiming at a mix of spending a lot and sifting through bloated business models (e.g. this or that accessory/equipment, microtransactions, etc.). Feel like many can relate to this sort of commercial fatigue, and yet it creeps even into hobbies where one tries to unwind....

Rentlar,

Learn a new language using Language Transfer method!

Pay what you want, but the lessons are very well done and quite different than your textbook (no writing anything down at all). The teacher doesn’t push you to donate at all but I tell you it’s absolutely valuable and worth it.

Rentlar,

I’ve a solar normal watch. Having to plug it in every week seems annoying to me.

Rentlar,

Not since July this year. I do remember looking at reposts with disdain when I was there, though.

Rentlar, (edited )

You reminded me of the main reason why I didn’t like Reddit reposts (it’s been a while). Just as bad were the other bots that took top comments from the earlier posts and put them in verbatim in the repost.

Rentlar,

Meme hoarders in preparation for a possible Meme Economy crash and recession?

Rentlar,

I’ll consider it a compliment for all of the Lemmyverse that my meme made you do a double-take of where you were.

Rentlar,

I like how the horizontal axis of the tan graph is theta per rad but there are no scale markings…
