Rentlar,

The only place you can watch all of the above without restriction…

Rentlar,

Yep it’s hilarious that because all the streaming services trying to wall off their own content and region-lock it means that the illegal way is the only reasonable means to access the shows even if you would be willing to spend some money to see it.

Each one comes with predatory practices trying to lock you into long term costs, some have “ad-supported” plans, most have stupid space-wasting apps, and every single one has some onerous EULA they make you agree to.

Rentlar,

There are certain niches where automated mirroring is a little useful.

Game day threads, part sales (where people need to be quick) are a couple examples.

I have most post bots blocked though (lemmit, alien, lululemon, etc.).

Like others said the downsides are that they drown out original posts and discussions with authors that never respond to comments. Consequently, the not-logged-in experience on instances that “leave it up to users to block” will appear messy and full of garbage.

I think they have their place but those automated should be contained to communities that want them, easily identified, easy to block and post rate limited to reasonable levels.

A yet to be developed feature in Lemmy would be the ability to somehow “opt-in follow” automated bot posts rather than the current “opt-out” model.

Can you check the battery voltage with a multimeter if you know how to use one? when disconnected at full charge, when connected, and when the strange flickering is happening?

There are battery voltage monitoring tools on Windows and Linux which could work but I’d trust multimeter numbers more. Check to see if it’s above by more than 15% rated voltage or below rated voltage by any amount at full charge. Check for any strangeness in the charge curve.

If you see any of those signs your battery is likely busted. Also if your battery looks inflated at all replace it immediately.

Rentlar,

Censorship/bad moderation wasn’t the main reason I left but it was a small factor…

A subreddit (wpt) implemented a rule banning linking to other communities or posts. I had a comment removed for that, I tried to ask for clarity on why and it took two back and forths to figure it out which rule I broke, when/where it was implemented because it wasn’t on their sidebar. I thought Reddit was all about linking to places so I was just surprised, not really upset…

I was mainly upset that Reddit was messing with 3rd party apps while the 1st party one remained a broken, data-grubby mess. The quality of major subreddits were heading way downhill and the bot-spam disguising as real commenters was getting on me too.

When Reddit broke .compact mode for the last time, I could already begin to feel in the wind I needed to jump ship soon. In mid-March, the API went down for some time on my 6th Reddit cake day, that was the day I signed up for this account and slowly began my 4 month transition to Lemmy, and haven’t posted or commented since July.

Rentlar,

That’s correct, hence everyone is eligible.

Rentlar,

my bad I will fix it

Rentlar, (edited )

I did, it originally said artist who made W.A.P. and now it’s featured in W.A.P.

Here, I went back and made it even more clear.

Rentlar,

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laàs#Principality_of_Laàs

Being in a temperate part of France sounds pretty great, especially if I got a room in Chateau de Láas.

Rentlar,

Everyone who helps foster welcoming and positive vibes on this little corner of the Internet deserves an honorable mention.

At highway speeds, tailgating 10 ft behind a 53 ft tractor-trailer will net you about a 39% boost in fuel economy. And further your fuel usage will drop by 100% after the trailer flattens your hood from a sudden stop maneuver!

What hobbies help you minimize or avoid navigating commercialism?

By commercialism, I’m aiming at a mix of spending a lot and sifting through bloated business models (e.g. this or that accessory/equipment, microtransactions, etc.). Feel like many can relate to this sort of commercial fatigue, and yet it creeps even into hobbies where one tries to unwind....

Rentlar,

Learn a new language using Language Transfer method!

Pay what you want, but the lessons are very well done and quite different than your textbook (no writing anything down at all). The teacher doesn’t push you to donate at all but I tell you it’s absolutely valuable and worth it.

Rentlar,

I’ve a solar normal watch. Having to plug it in every week seems annoying to me.

It’s a (mostly) Japanese Fediverse social media network with a fuckton of cute emoji reactions, static and animated.

Firefish (was Calckey) seems to be based off of this.

Rentlar,

To me it seems almost sarcastic, but it’s funny in good taste.

Rentlar,

Additionally, for some reason, pirated stuff often has better quality than paid stuff - it’s something I cannot fathom.

Right!? This is the most baffling part to me. Random people with camcorders at theatres have better video quality than Netflix’s garbage-tier 720p that we saw in this video.

Rentlar,

Great message, but heaven almighty this is a Big Kahuna of a repost! My comment is on your Lemmy post of a Tumblr Note of a Reddit comment and post of a Quora question and answer…

Rentlar,

It’s as much a meme as those news articles talking about how “something appears at the top of their search result” is a news article.

A lazily made one.

Rentlar,

The hearty Lemmyverse dinner…

Soup from stock, Sturgeon (Stör), Beef Stroganof, served with beans.

Rentlar,

Neat how a few of them are off centre (Nagano, Mie, Fukushima for example). Some appear to derive their symbols from Japanese family crest symbols. And the prefectures with “Yama” all have some sort of mountain range triangular symbolism.

…on the other hand my brain is in the wrong place when I look at the Kanagawa flag.

Rentlar,

Wow, someone found the lore of American Truck simulator!
