Costco doesn’t even have baskets, at least the one I go to. So it’s either carry by hand or a cart. So I carry by hand, which keeps me from overspending every trip because I can only carry like 4 or 5 things. I buy for myself only anyway so it’s usually enough for the week.

What things do you do while eating?

I have a terrible habit of watching Youtube while I eat, and then one video turns to ten and I’ve wasted the entire day. I’ve tried just not watching it while I eat, but JUST eating is so incredibly boring that I cave in and turn it on regardless. I can’t get any work done while eating either, since it takes me out of flow...

It’s pretty plain for me to see it. I still like my job as well, but I know my company charges clients 3x my hourly wage for an hour of my time.

It’s a tough balance to strike for sure. Part of female empowerment is to de-program young and old adults from environments where male identity was default/dominant and that’s absolutely important. For kids on the other hand that don’t have that default to begin with, it is definitely possible for them to feel left out or alienated if given that same unbalanced messaging.

Neat how a few of them are off centre (Nagano, Mie, Fukushima for example). Some appear to derive their symbols from Japanese family crest symbols. And the prefectures with “Yama” all have some sort of mountain range triangular symbolism.

…on the other hand my brain is in the wrong place when I look at the Kanagawa flag.

I hate that I always compare Lemmy to Reddit, but Reddit used to have (not sure if they still do) guidelines called “Reddiquette” that included guidelines about upvoting and downvoting. I don’t remember the specifics (and sending too much of my browser traffic to Reddit makes me feel dirty) but one of the guidelines was...

I agree having a general ettiquite/cross-Fediverse rules of conduct that won’t get you banned on most servers. But (within the boundaries of law) I don’t mind if other servers want to impose more or fewer restrictions in keeping with such an ettiquite and how strict it’s enforced. Servers like Hexbear can go and do their silly thing so long as the “trolling the libs” kind of conduct is kept there.

My personal rules

Up = Like it, interesting novel take (even if I disagree), funny and clever

No vote with comment = disagree but worthwhile discussing, unintentional but incorrect and/or misleading info.

Down = Spam, low effort to the point it’s insulting (clearly not reading beyond the title), flaming and flamebaiting (this is a big one on forums like this everywhere), trolling, intentionally incorrect or misleading information, off-topic/irrelevant stuff.

Report = hate speech, violence against members of our communities, incessant trolling or flaming or flamebaiting (more than twice in a row).

Active is kind of a lackluster sorting method imo, Hot is awesome bc you get fresh posts (like Trending on that other site) aside from a couple 3M old posts that show up, Top 6h, 12h, Day are good too. New comments is cool if you want well engaged posts.
