…her twitter feed is full of evidence for that. Like other people who say this kind of shit, I think you made up your mind long ago that you’d forever say this regardless of what she says

Have you seen “The Closer”? His long segment about trans people didn’t contain many, if any, jokes.

TrickDacy,
@TrickDacy@lemmy.world avatar

Damn. I didn’t know it went back that far. I remember him making one or two trans jokes that didn’t land but nothing I couldn’t chock up to a mistake. But the last one I saw he literally talked for 30 minutes about trans people. None of it was nice or funny.

Comedians, especially those who you watch perform for many hours over many years, are different from just any celebrity. Especially when they espouse a point of view that resonates, until suddenly it doesn’t. PS I don’t think about Dave Chappelle ever until he pops his head up with (these days) something shitty to say

If at any point, DC’s 30 minute trans rant neared being funny, I could’ve given him the benefit of doubt.

But nope, it contained zero jokes. It wasn’t funny. It was him inflicting his old man attitude on the world. I loved Dave Chappelle, but I don’t find him funny or a decent person any longer.

TrickDacy,
@TrickDacy@lemmy.world avatar

Yep. I wanted to believe he has made some miscalculations with previous jokes. But literally wasn’t even trying to be funny in that special. I kept waiting for it. He lost me with that one and this photo further cements it. He couldn’t possibly not know who that bitch is right?

It would be so incredibly easy to shut up about trans people… But some people are just so bothered by them they cannot help themselves. I don’t get it.

Strawman.

What people are justifiably concerned about is pollution causing death and disease. Fuck off with this hYpOcRiSy bullshit

OP is minimizing an actually very important issue. They may as well work for an oil company (and they very well might)

Made the switch to KDE

I’ve been using Fedora for a couple of months now, and have been loving it. Very soon after I jumped into this community (among other Linux communities) and started laughing at all the people saying “KDE rules, GNOME drools,” and “GNOME is better, KDE is for babies.” But then I thought, “Why not give KDE a try? The...

it’s way faster than GNOME

Real question, are you on modern hardware? Only time I’ve noticed anything slow on gnome is on a pretty under powered laptop

… I think this is quite an exaggeration

Have you read my other comments? I don’t really need an explanation of how home ownership works. I owned a home for a decade. I lost money. I’m not saying that always happens, just that there are several factors not considered by many people who want to be a homeowner. Yes, it’s practically always less expensive, but it’s also often stressful.

You rent for 20 years, all the money you’ve spent over those 240 months is gone forever.

… we pay for things we’d rather not deal with all the time. No, it’s not money pissed into the wind, I got something for it. Peace of mind for those 20 years. Sleeping in instead of mowing the grass or taking the mower to a mechanic so I can do that.

I have enough stress to deal with without maintaining a property. I may decide to make that trade off again some day, but it’s absolutely not this cut and dried thing where renting is stupid if you can own. There are a lot of tradeoffs involved in owning vs renting.

It’s cute that you think life is inexpensive once you pay off your mortgage at 65 and have spent several thousand dollars throughout the years maintaining that house that would’ve otherwise been put into your savings account

TrickDacy,
@TrickDacy@lemmy.world avatar

That’s the idea we are sold, yes

TrickDacy,
@TrickDacy@lemmy.world avatar

No one said it wasn’t. It’s just that people think it’s easier and more profitable than it often is. also people for some reason are okay with giving a bank an absurd amount of money just because they think it’s a better deal. And no I don’t have to like giving money to a landlord to make this observation

You must be high. I of course knew that, it was obviously the other one I was asking about.

Weirdest post of the day award may not be the high honor you think it is, OP

I mean, you save money by not having to buy another PC…

The performance I’m seeing on AMD makes me tend to agree with your first point. Looks fantastic and framerates are really nice.

I’m not really interested in AI except for the realtime background noise removal I’d heard about like 2 years ago which apparently Nvidia rtx cards can do. But in all this time I never set it up so I obviously wasn’t that interested in it!

Surely amd will get gpgpu support working at some point!

I second this. For a while my Nvidia card worked great on pop os for gaming. Then one day a kernel upgrade hosed it all. I tried for days to get it working again and finally realized I was swimming upstream and always would be. Bought an amd card and now I hardly have any issues.

Nvidia usually worked for me fine outside of gaming but I did literally find some distros that had severe issues even in the installer sometimes. Nvidia intentionally fucks over Linux support so I decided it was best not to support them anymore anyhow.

Sidenote, my games all look great and run better than they did on the Nvidia card. I always thought amd graphics cards were second rate, but I don’t think that’s at all true these days.
