Vespair, to memes in Straight hustlin'

Yeah the first year of recreational in Colorado there was so many photos of girl scouts selling outside dispensaries.

Probably sold record cookies that year, too

Vespair, to lemmyshitpost in oh snap.

No, the desired effects was to undo Thanos’s snap, not double the human population. This means that all of the gut bacteria got unsnapped exactly the same as everyone else

Vespair, to lemmyshitpost in idk how to title this

These people thrive off any attention, even negative. Even if it’s as a joke, he’s still going to feel like a main character. The right course of action is giving them the irrelevance they so truly deserve by paying them zero attention.

Vespair, to memes in Lemmy isn't what I expected but I love this place

Hey now, that’s unfair. It’s Star Trek references, Linux memes, and disingenuous leftist in-fighting!

Vespair, to memes in Age range

It sounds to me like that’s an issue of predatory lending and business practices; why don’t we attempt addressing those issues rather than arbitrarily deeming people too underdeveloped to understand such things for literally a third of their estimated life-span

Vespair, to mildlyinteresting in We hit one third of boomers being dead in the last few days.

Because that’s how it works, right? When your house is flooded because of a burst pipe, when you replace the pipe then your house is magically unflooded right? I mean of course no reasonable person thinks that, but that seems to be the understanding you’re suggesting. Meanwhile you’re trying to say that if we do repair the pipe and the house is still flooded, rightly acknowledging that the pipe is 100% the cause of the flood is somehow… wrong?

The facts are that boomers fucked the world up, heavily, and did everything they could to hold onto power and rob the next generation (at least) of their deserved place in the driver’s seat of society, and cleaning up the messes and lessons left over by the boomers will take generations to clean up. The fact that boomer built long-term systemic problem without simple solutions does not mean that the boomers are not entirely at fault or that we aren’t entirely better off without them.

I think they’re objecting to you calling it “dressing” instead of stuffing, even though it’s usually recommended to cook it outside the bird and thus “dressing” is actually the more correct term making you right.

Vespair, (edited ) to linuxmemes in Oh no ...

Are there tankies? Yes, absolutely. That being said, is the term “tankie” being thrown around way too cavalierly and dismissively on Lemmy? Ab-so-fucking-lutely.

I thought reddit was into assigning labels to people dismissively, but holy shit it’s on another level here on Lemmy.

Just like how not everyone who disagreed with you on Reddit was a Nazi, not everyone who says something you dislike on Lemmy is a tankie

edit: small typo

Vespair, to comicstrips in Dress by Pizzacakecomic

I didn’t say the reader, I said the character. She isn’t making any “comment” about anything here; acknowledging a situation exists is not inherently making commentary on it nor injecting humor into it. This is at best pandering, at worst pandering with an appetizer of rage-baiting.

Do I hate this? No. Is it evil? No. Do I hate pizzacake? No. Do I even object to this awful non-punchline comic being posted here? No. The only thing I object to is the bullshit special treatment and kid gloves certain creators on the other site received for no worthwhile reasons, and am preemptively sounding the alarm that we should be wary that such behavior does not seep over here too.

Point being, if you enjoy this comic, punchline or not, that is okay. I’m not really interested in further spending time arguing the merits or non-merits of the work of somebody I’m not interested in with you, so if you still wish to argue that there is some deep commentary or punchline to be found here, I hope we simply land on agreeing to disagree on the topic.

If by that you mean absolutely flip her shit over the most mild and milquetoast of criticism, then yeah sure

Vespair, (edited ) to lemmyshitpost in Reblog if youre american

Sure; it’s absolutely awful and I hope somebody intervenes soon. It’s also embarrassing that as an American our money goes in part to fund it. What else would you like to say about it?

Oh right, you’re just once again being a disingenuous douchebag who is trying to equate real world harm reduction voting strategy with implicit endorsement of a genocide as if the alternative wouldn’t only exacerbate the situation, still refusing to actually use your own words but rather relying on the better words of others, only now in this totally unrelated thread.

Good job falsely assuming I have pro-zionist opinions just because I believe in practical application of real world policies and strategies though! I had to unblock you and the other dude from that thread temporarily so I could restore a removed comment; I appreciate the reminder to block you again.

Finally to your other point in the previous thread, I don’t block opposition discourse, I block disingenuous bad faith actors. You know, like you.

For all necessary context, see the following thread in full: https://lemm.ee/comment/8402332

Vespair, to risa in It just isn't complete without it

I haven’t consumed every piece of media on the planet so I can’t speak to the reference you’re making, but no, no it is not.

It is recommended to not stuff the bird because a turkey is large enough that stuffing will significantly increase cooking time and without care it is very easy to undercook the now solid interior, which can then soak bacteria-ladden juices into the stuffing which has not reached sufficient temperatures to kill said offending bacteria.

Stuff your small birds like chickens; dress your big birds like turkey.

Vespair, to memes in Seriously spends $80 to drive 20km..

Also it’s an arms race. They feel safer because they’re comparatively above smaller cars, but then when everyone is riding tall trucks that additional feeling of safety becomes moot as you no longer have the additional height/visibility over everyone else.

And conversely, the reason they feel less safe in smaller cars is because of the comparison to larger cars on the road. They aren’t solving anything in a larger vehicle, they’re just perpetuating onto others what gave them small-vehicle anxiety in the first place.

The whole concept is stupid, basically.

Well yeah but nobody complains about the frosting on a cake
