Are you being ironically obtuse?

Let’s characterize it!

I won’t abide stanning for the billionaire class or calls to impotent civility. I very much have in my heart EXACTLY the spirit of what /r/HailCorporate was and if you doubt that, you are exactly the type of corporatist cuck that I created this community to reveal.

Now to characterize your privileged perspective:

“I have no sympathy for marginalized groups, quite literally pleading for their lives. If they wanted my sympathy, they should have done so more politely!”

What are the best steps to reduce the wealth of billionaires?

There are a myriad of news articles here on Lemmy that display the abhorrent influence billionaires have on our society (especially the US, where I reside). I consistently read comments where the posters appear hopeless and despondent of the situation, while others jokingly refer to the guillotine....

Are you kidding?

735 would take like 20 minutes in parallel if all of the wage slaves got together wherever each billionaire is and gave them what they have coming. And boy do they have it coming!

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible (by buying up our politicians, governments, and news-media) will make violent revolution inevitable.

I don’t blame them. They get name-called by centrists from world all the time. I started subscribing to their communities heavily when they came to my defense multiple times in comments where I felt like I was the only person arguing for humanity over the grinding gears of corporatism. I consider myself as leftist as they are (with a slight tinge of crypto tech bro that they so loathe…pretty sure they shadow banned me for being too tech bro🤣) and they, in turn, treat me like an asshole outsider. They’re pretty much the hipsters of the fediverse but they’re also squarely on the side of selfless human cooperation while outsiders accuse them of being “tankies”.

I would say one thing in their defense: they are straight up communists but before you go acting like they’re squarely pro-China tankies, they will tell you that

communism has never existed exactly as Marx described. So, many criticisms of it are disingenuous bullshit.

Agreed! Almost every single repost my bot made had like ZERO engagement! 😅

I guess you like to waste a whole day getting your machine back to the exact old configuration then.

You should check out XMonad. It’s the only formally verified tiling WM.

I got it working with NixOS and have my whole config online.

github.com/harryprayiv/nix-config/…/config.hs

I did some weird stuff with a custom Hue CLI Module for my lab. It’s a fun little, fairly kludgey example of something you could spin up super easily.

In Haskell (much of the time), they say if it compiles it ships! It’s a lazily-evaluated language which lends itself well to a config and it slots right into NixOS quite well since Nix is also a lazily evaluated purely functional language.

I linked a definition to that a few comments down.

I also run a community on XMonad: infosec.pub/c/xmonad

Nix flakes are all I need to completely replace Docker.

Distro for experienced Linux user

Hi, I’m looking for a distro for my laptop. My first distro was Pop!_OS, then I switched to Fedora, then Arch for a year and 2 months ago I switched to Fedora Silverblue, because I wanted to try immutable distro that relies on containers and flatpaks to be usefull. Silverblue is great but not so much for me, its not flexible...

Since I’m the NixOS guy, I recommend GUIX. 😉

demesisx,
@demesisx@infosec.pub avatar

From what I hear, it’s a much newer and less popular project, so I expect it to be even more difficult than nix was for me.

No problem. Real thanks goes to gvolpe who I forked my config from.

demesisx,
@demesisx@infosec.pub avatar

If you want, here’s my config. Feel free to fork it.

github.com/harryprayiv/nix-config (you’ll have the most luck with the “plutus_vm” machine config output in my flake at first since the main output in my config is somewhat obscured by encryption).

I also have a Nix-Darwin config that I haven’t consolidated into my main one:

github.com/harryprayiv/nix-darwin-config

If NixOS isn’t ready for mainstream work, GUIX is at least doubley so. It is SUPER white beard while IMO, even an idiot (👋🏼) can grasp NixOS.

This is how we used to do it before we had NixOS with impermanence mode. nixos.wiki/wiki/Impermanence

Xmonad!!! (And in 25 years, Waymonad!)

How to organize images with custom tags?

Hello! I have a bunch of photos all mixed together, and I’d like to sort them out in order to better find the ones I’m searching for without loosing half an hour. I was thinking of adding custom tags to each image (manually), like “my dog”, “trip to Paris”, “my friend X” etc. I’d like this tag system to be...

I recommend embedding something like a checksum in the filenames to prevent duplicates.
