scytale,

Or you know, wash with water AND soap. I wash with a bidet and use liquid soap along with it. That’s no different than washing in the shower.

scytale,

I’m a jack of all trades, master of none:m; so I’ll be a virtuoso of one thing.

What is the least shit online store of the shitty ones? such as: Wish, AliExpress, etc..

What is the least shitty shit store? Never had a good experience with any of the shops such as, wish, aliexpress and the rest of em. But which one of them is considered the better one, or more likely to actually arrive with the correct item? Is etsy considered better than the rest? Are there any of these “low priced” stores...

scytale,

Honestly, if you consider amazon on the same level of shit as the ones mentioned especially with it being overrun by cheap knockoffs and chinese brands, they probably have the widest and most reliable delivery network. The return/exchange is also very easy as long as the product is shipped by them.

scytale,

Audacious with a winamp skin. Nostalgic.

scytale,

I’ve never heard of this guy until reading your comment, and I’m glad I never consumed any of his content.

Tips on making your data less sellable?

A charity I’m volunteering for and a contractor I know insist I have a facebook account for contact reasons. Naturally I bought a separate device to use for that, but I was wondering if there were ways to make my data undesirable to potential buyers. So far I got the obvious tiennamen square posting and that gay putin pic, but...

As the other comment said, it doesn’t matter what you post. What matters is that you’re using it. So just have an account for contact reasons as you were told. Don’t use it for anything else. Don’t put info on your bio and don’t browse because the more you scroll and navigate, the more data points they get from you. Also, if it’s really for contact purposes only, you can just use messenger on your phone and never install the main app.

When it comes to a point where someone can buy anything they want, gifts become more of non-material things, like spending time with family or personally crafted items that aren’t necessarily expensive.

He’s applying the wall of sound technique. Everyone knows women like overcompressed mixes with no dynamics.

I was a bit bummed when I heard Godzilla was on screen for less than 10 minutes, but the reviews and ratings have convinced me to probably go watch it in theaters!

Edit: I just booked last minute tickets for the last show tonight (in 1.5 hours) lol. I’ll be busy tomorrow and I don’t want to go on a weekend, so might as well go now.

Edit 2: Just got back from the theater. The two best things about this film are:

  • Atomic breath / heat ray. Even the latest hollywood godzilla’s version of atomic breath is nothing compared to this one. Amazing.
  • The score. The eerie orchestral swells fit so well with the circumstances of the time period when the film takes place. I’ll definitely listen to the score again if they release it officially.

I’d say it’s worth it to watch in theaters. It’s not perfect, but all scenes with godzilla more than make up for whatever flaws the rest of the film has.

scytale,

[DISCUSSION] What director(s) do you think have the best filmography?

I was checking out the new season of Fargo, which made me want to rewatch the 1996 movie and I got to thinking, the Coen Brothers have a fantastic filmography. They have way more hits than misses and they make some of the most interesting movies out there. No Country for Old Men is probably one of my favorites of all time. So...

scytale,

Denis Villeneuve hands down. The guy has never made a bad mainstream film yet. Some would argue Enemy is his worst, and even then it’s not really a bad film.

scytale,

There’s someone at my work that owns a huge truck and they park at a turning corner inside the garage every single day. The garage is already cramped as it is, and then you’ve got a huge truck blocking off visibility when you turn the corner.

scytale,

I’m going to a concert tomorrow and this is gonna be me. If only parking wasn’t a hassle (and if public transit was actually a viable option), I’d arrive just in time for the show to start instead of getting there more than an hour early.

scytale,

Does he have any stories of weird/strange things he saw/heard on those small uninhabited islans?

scytale,

Great to see Ryan Gosling in more comedies. Dude has great comedic chops. The rest of the cast looks great too.

scytale,

Zuck in the EU: I receive €13 AND still collect your personal data.

scytale,

Yeah, it all boils down to your threat model. Not everyone has the time, resources, or know-how to self-host everything, so it’s about balancing convenience with privacy, which unfortunately is almost one or the other now.

scytale,

Yeah, but the implication here is that the phone is capable of rotating, unlike a tv. I get it though, if they don’t want to watch a landscape video in portrait.

scytale,

Assuming you’re in the US, no one was banning you from traveling or gathering with loved ones. There was nothing close to an actual lockdown that was implemented in the US. Losing income is a different story. Coming in to work and endangering other people’s health without their consent is not acceptable. Not to mention that most antivaxxers are antimaskers as well, which made it worse. If you purposely do not take the necessary precautions to keep other people around you safe, then you shouldn’t be working there. That applies to anything, not just Covid.

scytale,

On the other hand, more people might take it seriously when they see infected people bleeding from all orifices. Then again, with all the crazy shit covid deniers have done/said, who knows? They’d probably still blame 5G.

scytale,

I get it though, you really don’t need a car to get to maybe 95% of the country. I wonder if people who need to haul stuff around for a living get any incentives.

scytale,

That got me thinking. If spending all your time in a tiny 1BR apartment is NYC’ing wrong, would living in a hotel make sense? If you stayed at a mid-level chain like Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn, it’ll cost you $3000+ a month, but that already comes with daily breakfast, utilities and internet, free parking, and regular housekeeping. Some rooms might even have a small kitchen and could be bigger in total area than a 1BR apartment. The only issue is you can’t modify the interior except maybe add some furniture. But if you’re supposed to be out most of the time anyway, maybe that wouldn’t matter as much?
