tigeruppercut,

Then go back to season 2. Then if you like that go back to season 1.

tigeruppercut,

If you’re looking for a way to start, Next Generation (TNG) is a good entry point, though you might want to start with season 3 (it’s when it really started to feel polished). If you like that then Voyager is similarly episodic and easy to watch, though the writers could’ve treated some of the characters a little better in that. Modern episodic trek is Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks, also both immediately fun and easy to get into.

Deep Space 9 is what started trek on having longer serialized arcs, and Enterprise also has long story lines (the entirety of season 3 was one arc).

And I’ll probably get some disagreement for this, but despite having grown up on trek and watched almost everything that’s out there (I think I just have 1 or 2 seasons of Discovery left), I’ve never really been able to watch much of the original series. It just feels way too dated for me. Maybe if the guys over at the Greatest Generation podcast pick it up I’ll try to work through it.

tigeruppercut,

Warms my heart to see there are still places with old arcade games hanging around. Do kids even want to play stuff like centipede or is it there for the parents??

tigeruppercut, (edited )

That went both too far and not far enough. I didn’t expect the shovel but after it was introduced I thought literally everything was going to end up covered.

…I love the shitposts and memes over here-- never used to enjoy those subs on reddit

tigeruppercut,

Well, with no numbers on that statement it could be as little as 51% of people. Chalk me up in the “online since BBSs” and I’ve always said soft g.

I’m more concerned with the poll further down the page that has a staggering 2.8% of people who pronounce each letter individually.

tigeruppercut,

Someone with a big tiddy anime profile pic couldn’t possibly be doing that

tigeruppercut,

Turtle meat and chicken sashimi aren’t very common in Japan either. You wouldn’t pick an izakaya at random and expect either of those on the menu

tigeruppercut,

My elementary school was 15 miles from my house. You think that’s a safe distance for a 6 year old to travel alone?

tigeruppercut,

Above you wondered why we need buses and I said that when I was 6 I lived 15 miles (24 km) from my school (and it was suburban, not rural). You then said that your school was 3.5 km away. I don’t see how that answers my question.

tigeruppercut,

also think that all old people are bad

Not many people actually believe this. It’s more that statistically it’s better for the country as more old people die. My boomer parents are progressive, but the generation by and large is holding us back. Of course the electoral college is part of the problem as well.

tigeruppercut,

With more progressive voting comes more chances at holding billionaires accountable. Boomers vote GOP who gives tax breaks to the rich.

  • tigeruppercut,

Even if you skip the plot, during the scenes a lot of the step- variety makes a point to have them call each other by family names during (“oh you like what mommy is doing now?”) Pretty big turn off if you’re not into that shit

    tigeruppercut,

tamagotchis lasted longer than the confederacy

    tigeruppercut,

and completely unfunny, never done anything in his entire career except gape at the camera in mock surprise-- you could throw a rock in Antarctica and hit someone with more talent

    tigeruppercut,

Detectives were able to run relatively simple tests to determine that the file had last been saved by a user named “Dennis,” and it had been printed using one of the printers at the nearby Christ Lutheran Church.

Maybe the article is badly worded, but it seems like they got metadata from the file, not the floppy disk itself.

    tigeruppercut,

A regular tare sauce has sugar in it, and you can find the sweeter version (amadare) at sushi places. However, it’s really only used for the eel (anago).

But I mean they make a ketchup spaghetti in Japan so if someone wants to talk about fucking with traditional dishes…

    tigeruppercut,

Reading the bible is the quickest way to make atheists

    tigeruppercut,

I’ve always heard that phrase referring to splashback on the butthole

    tigeruppercut,

Oh yeah, you’re right-- we used to call it Poseidon’s kiss though haha

    tigeruppercut,

Yeah, which is why I said Neptune’s kiss was right. An interesting one I didn’t learn until later though was that with all the other planet names being the Roman versions (Zeus=Jupiter, Kronos=Saturn, etc) that Hades and Pluto (or well, Pluton) are both originally Greek. The Romans also just used Pluto for Hades (and a couple other gods that got wrapped up in that name).
