I know one shouldn’t be installing apps from shady sources, but what if I just want to try out and app before actually purchasing it from the play store....

I just tried opening a video I had gotten from Pahe many years ago, from an external USB drive, and have now gotten a Windows Security warning, ‘Do you want to open this file?’ (see top part of attached image)...

This is just a short rant and is not meant to insult anyone already on here, or further newcomers that joined, join or will still join. Also reminder that this is based on my experience and not necessarily facts, YMMV....

Are there any groups on lemmy or discord that discusses movies releases in the pirated community? For example, the Barbie movie just dropped but it has Korean subs, got me thinking about looking for places to chat about the releases

Every now and then, when I’m connected to a torrent a peer will connect that has a reference to “Swarm Merging” in their name. What is swarm merging?
