mnemonicmonkeys, to piracy in Mangadex and Batoto extensions have been removed due complaints from copyright holders

Heads up, as of last night you can’t search MangaDex via the old extension. Manga you already have favorited are still updated, but you can’t find new ones to favorite

Appoxo,
@Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Still working as of yet but havent updated (thanks to the post).

What a shitshow to wake up to… Fuck Kakao Entertainment, may they kill themselves.

Replacements: Mangadeamon, Mangasushi, flamescans, Mangabuddy, Mangakakalot… Diversify your library while the dex extension still works. Some scans on those btw get updates before Dex does.

Edit: this company was registered in 2021… They definitely don’t have a case as mangadex has been there longer than this and same with the extension. Fuck those greedy bastards, if you know someone using anything from them, give that person a educational slap.

thoughts3rased,

I wouldn’t endorse Mangakakalot, they had some involvement in the Mangadex DDOS/breach a couple years back. Not to mention unlike MD they’re a scan aggregator, which basically means they take scans from other sites (like Mangadex) and slap ads on top of them.

CJOtheReal,

The extensions of tachiyomi are ad free so i don’t really care about that, but yeah there are a lot more to chose from if you want to avoid them (wich is totally fair, i don’t know about the bad stuff they do or did, i just want to read Mangas on my E-reader)

I’m not sure why they sent the removal request to tachiyomi devs

CJOtheReal,

Greed, thats all. They know that a non profit can’t defend themselves against this bs. Hope someone shoots whoever made that decision. People have been shot for less…

ArmokGoB,

No one ever shoots the people that deserve it most.

Hmm might switch to the Neko fork then, since I don’t think that relies on extensions. Not sure what to do about Bato though

JK_Flip_Flop,

I can confirm that Neko still works flawlessly for me. I only use Mangadex so have never really been interested in the wider Tachiyomi space.

Someone will surely find a workaround to this. Half my library on tachiyomi is from mangadex lol

Edit: I did find a workaround, an unofficial repository for mangadex and bato extensions. As of the moment bato extension seems to be broken, but hopefully a patch will be released soon. The developer of the extension still plans to maintain it afaik

About one-third my library from batoto 😭

but hopefully a patch will be released soon.

I really hope for this

30% of my mangas are located on mangadex and the others are located on different sources. That’s good because my migration process to other sources is not really tedious. That’s why diversification of different sources are important nowadays

Hazmatastic,

But from my frame of reference, YOU were the one speeding officer. I was completely stationary.

Had to look up when it was set, because I assumed the 50s or 60s

The pastel colors, house furnishings, women’s fashions and hairstyles, pill hats, starburst wall clocks and pastel-colored rotary dial telephones are all reminiscent of the early 1960s. However, the VCRs and aerobics classes came to be in the 1980s or thereabout. So there is no real time when the movie “took place.”

TIL

profoundninja,

I guess that makes sense.

Not set in any of our time periods, but rather an alternate universe where the fashion trends, technology advancements and scissor hand dudes make sense.

@maegul@lemmy.ml avatar

Interesting. Could be related to the outbound federation bug 0.19.0 had.

Crul,

From what I see:

  • feddit.de is on BE: 0.19.1
  • lemm.ee is on BE: 0.19.1-rc.1

I don’t know in which version was the bug fixed.

maegul,
@maegul@lemmy.ml avatar

Either 19.1 or rc.1 fixes the bug from what I saw.

But the question then becomes when the last post was made to apocalyptic art. From my quick glance it was 4 days ago on the lemmy.ml mirror, which seems behind the most recent posts on the actual community. Lemmy.ml is on the newest version.

So my guess is that there’s some general federation issue, possibly on the feddit.de end, which is causing some things to get dropped.

If that’s not the issue, then there could be a similar bug that hasn’t yet been noticed.

@tal@lemmy.today avatar

We were just discussing some potentially-0.19.1-related federation problem that lemmy.today users were experiencing after the update; that’s how I ran across this thread.

lemmy.today/post/4382768

The admin there, @mrmanager, restarted the instance again some hours later to attempt to resolve the problem, and it looked like federation started working at that point.

That might be worth consideration if any other instances are seeing problems with posts/comments/votes not propagating.

EDIT: Well, nuts. Now this comment doesn’t seem to be propagating either; visible from lemmy.today but not on lemmy.ml’s Web UI. Maybe if lemmy.today gets restarted again, it will.

tal, (edited )
@tal@kbin.social avatar

Posting from a kbin.social account to avoid the lemmy.today issues -- on lemmy.today, the current behavior looks like the messages in the queue go out when the instance is restarted, but not until then. It's running 0.19.1.

I am not the admin there, but wanted to make that available in case other instances are affected and trying to diagnose similar behavior; federation problems themselves can cause communication problems in trying to understand the issue.

I’m getting a LemmyAPIException when I try to upvote since yesterday. Now I notice I’m getting the same error when I try to post from the app.

Crul,

Thanks for the info!

I crossposted this to (what I considered) the relevant communities, where I added that as an edit.
