What should I do to use shared-memory communication from user-space on an immutable system?

possiblylinux127,

It should be fine

0x4E4F, (edited )
@0x4E4F@sh.itjust.works avatar

You should try and download some RAM from the user-space. Regarding the system, you should really switch to a muted one, I was extatic when my system stopped bitching all the time.

stoicmaverick,

There’s an EMACS plug-in for this

It’s kind of a decent name actually… Lol

Hum… Ok.

Why does systemd have a directory of active scripts if it needs to activate the scripts on its internal configuration too?

McMonkyNSFW,

Ever since the strike ended, the Directors can greenlight any script they want.

Good thing it’s written in rust. Memory leaks and race conditions are my two biggest fears while buttplug shopping.

Not gonna lie your sister might have some mental illness, let’s consider for a minute that the dishwasher might be very very good at cleaning I still would never do this due to the gross factor. Sorry mate but I’m not gonna put anything that goes in the bathroom anyway near things that food goes on to!!

I appreciate the writeup and that you’ve taken the time to post about it here, however I am 100% leery of managing remote access or credentials using closed source software. I’ll definitely keep an eye on the project, but it’s a hard pass for me until the app is fully open source.

crschnick,

Alright that is understandable, everyone has a different attitude towards that matter.

I’ve found small invidious instances seem to work better. There’s also Piped

ruplicant,
@ruplicant@sh.itjust.works avatar

damn, even with seeing the bot around here i forgot to try Piped these days

anyway, i’ve found a solution - i had “proxy videos through Invidious” turned on on Freetube (which was redundant since i’m behind a VPN). i’ve unchecked it and things seem fime now

still, thank you

Freetube works fine if you use the local API, but most Invidious instances don’t work at the moment

smitten, to linux in XPipe status update: New scripting system, advanced SSH support, performance improvements, and many bug fixes

Wow, yep. Totally trying this out. Currently I have a directory full of scripts to ssh into each of my servers. Kinda want to get rid of that.

Goun,

Interesting, do you mind giving an example on what those scripts do? Why not just put the hosts into .ssh/config ?

smitten,

Most of them are literally just “ssh name@host”, some of them open ssh proxies (I have a weird network setup)

Keep in mind, I didn’t search for any better way to do this before doing it.
