How is this uplifting? This is more depressing than anything. A child has to raise money for victims of the fire? How disgraceful of America. The government should be giving out money to the victims and kid should be able to enjoy their childhood.
There’s zero joy in one of the richest countries of the world not helping victims of a fire while a singular child has to raise money for them, there’s no logic either.
That’s usually true, but not always, because peopla aren’t all suicidal for the same reason. I’m not saying this in an attempt at debate. My suicidality was due to a vitamin processing problem. Started taking the correct supplement, within days, it was gone, after almost 20 years of constant suffering. But yeah, in most cases, there are broader social determinants of mental health involved.
Good on the aunt for recognizing that giving away possessions can be a sign of suicidal ideation. I guess she had been through it herself and understood.
Absolutely. Every time there’s a “men’s only” activity, other groups are quick to call out sexual discrimination.
There are some good things men can pick up from the queer community. They, of all people, play with what defines masculinity all the time. Queer women who want to be more masculine, trans men wanting to be identified as men, etc. They use aspects of masculinity to define themselves.
The thing with cis men is that for the longest time, masculinity has been defined through agressivity, violence, repression of emotions and domination. These are aspects that need to be removed in order to redefine masculinity.
Also, recently, men have been criticised and even mocked for various aspects of masculinity. Like the desire to be strong, liking certain things like sports or cars and trucks or action movies or horses or whatever, to dress a certain way, or just wanting to do general boy stuff.
But the one that hurts the most is how everyone is blaming everything the last bit negative on all men. Or pinning only a handful of men’s behavior on every man, ever. And basically saying that all men are inherently toxic and deserve to be eliminated. And as soon as someone speaks up and says “not all men” there always someone who’ll reply mockingly “nOt AlL mEN”, like it’s an invalid response to so much hatred and misandry.
Yes, a lot of men are toxic and patriarchy has hurt society in many ways. It also hurts men as well. But we have to differentiate between the good and the bad ones. I mean, women aren’t all angels either. And there are many other queer folk who aren’t nice and they probably have their own toxic traits. Basically everyone has their faults and some of the responsibility of the bad stuff should be shared.
No one should be able to lie to themselves about what the far-right government in Israel is doing in Gaza now.
If three naked Israelis waving a white flag and speaking Hebrew are summarily shot on site without a question, and that the only reason the murderers even thought to question after the fact is because one of the murder victims looked ‘western’, how the hell can anyone actually claim to believe the lie that the IDF is taking care not to kill civilians?
Surely this will wake people up to the reality that this is, and always has been, a mission of ethnic cleansing. It’s has got to be undeniable at this point.
I live in a red state. At a certain point it just comes down to what people want to believe regardless of outside information. This isn’t going to change any minds who associate with Zionism, but it could be another straw for people whobare reasonable but are bombarded 24/7 with state propaganda and don’t know what to believe.
