It’s interesting as a comparison to M3 now and at different power limits. I’m hoping it may hopefully benefit the asahi project also. As a windows product I don’t think it’ll be good at all unless Microsoft has a Rosetta like emulation layer that is nearly as good as Apple. Without that this product will not do well.
I’m just eager to know how much laptops will cost with the new Qualcomm chip. I don’t want to pop champagne too early only to realize that new ARM laptops cost $2000.
New tech always comes at a cost, hopefully with the many manufacturers partnering with Qualcomm in this project we’ll have competitive pricing better than the current offering that Apple silicon provides.
That’s not happening anymore due to real world constraints, though. Dennard scaling combined with Moore’s Law allowed us to get more performance per watt until around 2006-2010, when Dennard scaling stopped applying - transistors had gotten small enough that thermal issues and other current leakage related challenges meant that chip manufacturers were no longer able to increase clock frequencies each generation.
Even before 2006 there was still a cost to new development, though, us consumers just got more of an improvement per dollar a year later than we do now.
Youre right, just like the first risc-v laptop which was more than 1k with awful performances. This will probably follow the M series trend at about 1,5k , but arm has a lot of competitors…
Lots of tech companies might be interested. For example, at my work we are now stuck half way between x64 and arm, both on the server side and on the developers side (Linux users are on x64 and Mac users are on arm). While multiarch OCI/docker containers minimize the pains caused by this, it would still be easier to go back to a single architecture.
If you build a docker image on an ARM Mac OS with default settings it will happily run on Linux on ARM, the same for a Go app compiled with GOOS=“linux”, for example. Of course you can always fix the issues that pop up by also specifying the architecture, but people often forget, and in the case of docker it has significant performance penalties.
It should now be called AdTube “advertise yourself”
Ads are acceptable as long as they do not interfere with the video itself, imagine from start to finish learning advanced excel tutorials, what did you learn lol. And not all ads are just businesses most of them are security risks like click an ad accidentally and it will automatically install useless toolbars, nagware payload software etc without user consent just like the old days but they are now a norm.
He is super abrasive and speaks like a salesman. I don’t like his mannerisms either, but his message and ideals are right up my alley. Also, his videos are not very well edited, if at all, so his videos would sometimes give a very bad first impression. He looks like he’s on some drug or something with the dark circles around his eyes. Several videos also make him seem like a gym/frat bro with how he interacts with his employees.
I can see how he may come across like that. He seems like a cross between a confident go-fuck-yaself New Yorker and the Onion News Network’s best ever reporter, Michael Falk. youtu.be/D04wb7P_v-4
No idea, wondering the same thing myself. I can see most via a regular browser while not logged in, but it’s obvious some are missing. It’s possible the commenter I replied to deleted their comments, got banned, or something, and for whatever reason replies to those are also not visible in apps. There’s a comment asking if someone else knows their account was marked as a bot, maybe that has something to do with it.
I’ve got some idiot or a group of them following me around now making brand new accounts and single comments per account that say things that end with “not my problem” and downvoting everything, which is amusing because I’m on a server with downvotes disabled. All because I dismissed their complaints about this youtuber LOL
I deleted my comment because I was not up to arguing with Rossmann’s fan club
I'm not even a huge fan of Rossmann, I was just asking you to explain what you felt he was wrong about. At no point in the thread did you ever explain why you were so vehemently claiming he has no idea what he's talking about in this video.
it was a waste of my time
If anything, you wasted everybody else's time by making a weird claim and refusing to explain yourself.
Edit: lmao deleted again, guess we'll never get an answer, will we?
C’mon, I specifically told that I deleted my comments because I didn’t want to discuss it and you response to that by bringing it up again?
I only commented again because OP accused me of harassing him, which I’m not doing. I’m not interested in talking about the video or Rossmann at all, because it’s just a waste of my time.
Previously there was one top level comment that said something like “don’t give this guy views”, which was heavily downvoted and all other comments were a reply to that comment.
It’s not an assumption, it’s reality and takes all of 10 seconds to google. Do you think there’s no stats available on movies or just like to hold your fingers in your ears when presented with the truth?
Lol did you report me…to me? You do realize I’m a mod here as well as an admin? Anyway. Enough. I’ve given you enough leeway and you keep with attacks, breaking community as well as LW rules. Goodbye.
I’ve never seen someone have a total shit fit in a post about a Netflix trailer for christ sake, It’s actually pretty damn entertaining to watch the half-thought out knee jerk reactions.
I don’t get it either. And it’s like they weren’t paying any attention to anything said or who was commenting at all. Oh well. I tried to be patient but they just kept going and earned a community ban. And then kept going and got a 7 day instance ban. And then kept going and now they are permabanned. A total shit fit is right!
Oh they have numerous alt accounts, he’ll be back. Here’s some to look out for:

Again. No one said there are more now than ever. Just seems like there’s been a rise lately. Even if there was 1 made in the last 20 years and then 2 made recently, that would still be a rise. A very small one but still.
There’s no need to be so hostile and attack others, breaking community and site rules in the process. Maybe you should take a break.
They still haven’t added DRM Leasing to Wayland, which is needed for SteamVR to work and considering KDE (has had it for literally years, since 2021) and even COSMIC DE (and it’s not even out yet) both already have it, it’s just rediculous.
GNOME’s mantra is pretty much remove functionality if the maintenance burden is anything beyond lifting a finger. This might end up biting them however as it’s caused them to fall behind in supporting the features enterprises and consumers want out of a Linux desktop. Combine this with their weird obsession of making a pseudo-touch interface and it’s just not working.
