So for the #RedditMigration - the next turn in the road is July 1st. When the Apolo app goes dark. First thing: everyone should support @christianselig - buy merch, if you subscribe to the app decline your refund (see below)... But the #Threadiverse should also be ready. And any ways to do messaging, onboarding and welcoming...
Can anyone recommend a set of flip flops that are durable and last a long time? I had another cheap pair break the other day, and I’m looking for something more durable.
Trying to migrate to kbin, but have several small questions after using it for some minutes now.
Can anyone please expain how to ask simple questions within this magazine, like:
How can I ask questions here without posting a new link, photo, article or video?
Questions like:
How can I add magazines to my favourites?
How can I search a specific magazine (like RedditMigration for those quesions I have...)?
Finally:
Is there a more extensive user guide than kbin's user guide on Github?
All of the options in + except making a new magazine is creating a thread. The "Add new article" is equal to making a text thread.
You should be able to find some useful guides or info if you click "top" on the homepage, or go to /m/kbinMeta and click top to find some useful guides. Out of those this one should be a pretty helpful start.
So I created a magazine (which is similar to a subreddit, correct?) - what now? How do I even find my own? They don't show anywhere in my profile nor do I see any moderator tools, etc.
@acunasdaddy you can find magazines by searching from https://kbin.social/magazines. The Articles posted to the magazines you subscribe to show up in your feed. Microblogs are just aggregate content from the Fediverse. The moderation tools are limited, but what exists can be found by clicking the Magazine Panel button.
All of Kbin is very much a work in progress. A lot of things work as expected. Some don't. Be patient and pay it forward by helping others figure this out when you can.
I'm not familiar with Kbin much but just had a look at your profile from a not-logged-in person's pov. In the right hand sidebar are some stats about you including one that just says "moderated" with a 3 next to it. The 3 is a clickable link that seems to take me to a list of your created magazines.
Not sure if there's a simpler way to get to it when you're actually logged into Kbin though.
Microblogging is the name for things like Twitter. You "blog" only small texts like the famous 160 characters of Twitter. A tweet or toot would be called micropost or just "status update". On microblogs you usually don't have threads but replies to a post. These replies and the initial post effectively form a thread but all the replies are also separate posts by the user.
Hey all, I recently left reddit like many of you. I have a question regarding lemmy and the fediverse on the history of banning and defederation. I have noticed several posts calling for varying communities to be disconnected. were these removal requests as prevalent before the mass migration? Usually I am all for communities...
