I used to hoard data, feeling amateur though only like 4 tb, I stopped doing it once all the streaming platforms came online like 5 plus years ago. My plex media server is technically broken right now.
I’m in a good financial position and swapping the battery isn’t rocket surgery, but it’s a bit of a risk I’m not willing to take. Plus Pixel phones go on a decently deep discount in September before the next model is released.
And I wait until the battery is bloated so it’s kinda a safety thing too.
Just wondering, why not try swapping the battery? Worst case it breaks and you buy a new phone, best case you can keep your phone for a few months/years
To add on to the other top comment right now, it’s not like learning a spoken language. Once you know one, you can pick up another similar language without too much bother. Or should be able to, if you’re not crap.
As for what employers want to see, that’s something I’m less qualified to tell you.
Symbiosis in nature….it always brings up feelings of awe and wonder for me. Especially in forests. The “wood-wide web” or “mycorrhizal network” being my latest obsession . The fact that the fungi joins the trees together through the roots to allow for exchange of nutrients, water, and chemical signals between plants. And then there’s the forest canopy, and the role it plays in keeping the forest healthy.
When I was about 9 my family went to the jorvik viking center in York. They had a ride thingy where you could be driven around a realistic viking settlement and whatever the fuck they used to make the realistic smells of smelly vikings and pig shit really fucked me up. No one else was that bothered but I couldn’t eat properly for days.
I’m guessing whatever chemical they used really didn’t sit well with me. It must have had a pretty extreme effect because that was 31 years ago and it was the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw this question.
50 TB on a network attached storage appliance across 8 drives, probably 200-400 GB across two laptop internal drives, and 500 GB or so of games on a Framework expansion card.
I may have a problem. Something something r/datahoarder something something.
I have a Pixel 2 I picked up in 2018, a few months after they were released (my previous Nexus 5x got the bootloops).
I held off upgrading due to the free original quality Google photos. When that ran out, I did follow new releases, and found the features appealing, but then I’d see the ever inflating prices and couldn’t justify spending so much to replace a device that still works fine.
And it does still work. Granted, it’s had a new battery and a couple of charging ports (I’ve gotten a lot bolder with cleaning the ports now, don’t expect it to need a 4th any time soon). I’m fortunate to be capable of making those repairs myself, I’d have probably given in and bought an A model otherwise. For now though, I just have to say, maybe next year.
Total combined storage if I don’t count offline backup drives is a bit more than 25TB, though I got another 8TB SSD today so that’ll be going up soon.
I would say about half of that storage is filled with a number of different archives, lots of video, music, and game stuff just lying around. I also do not like to delete anything ever if I can avoid it. Basically just a hoarder, but I prefer to call it archival lol. I actually do maintain a ~1.4TB or so archive of content for 20 years of stuff from a rhythm game called Stepmania.
